Could really use a hint that you should click on the green cube to actually attack.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD48 → Stairwell

Could really use a hint that you should click on the green cube to actually attack.
Cool graphics and idea but it wasn't obvious what I was supposed to do at first.
Furthest I could make it was level 3, step 14. I like the concept of trade-offs when doing actions, though the attack could be be simplified without having to press the green square as well. Considering you can block without an enemy in front, you should be able to attack in front as well. I like the picturesque aesthetic of a single staircase that is never ending ending, going down forever. The movement down was seamless. The wait option has no purpose, it should restore some stamina as there is nothing that can be done if you run out and an enemy is in front of you. No stamina means no attack or blocking, the two actions needed in combat. Having that mean the end instead of mismanagement of resources makes this a really quick game to play once or twice. I recommend not voting in the audio category as I did not hear any sounds or music while playing. Nice straightforward game you made, going compo is an impressive feat!
Nice visuals. Interface felt very hard to use. Would like one button (UI or keyboard) to attack.
Interesting idea ! Tough clicking on the green cube to attack wasn't really necessary and add some useless complexity. Also maybe add a way to regain life other than blocking, by waiting for example.
Interesting game that I think could have a lot of potential. One thing taht would help is being able to tell how many steps away enemies are. I like planning the movement and trying to get them to walk into me. The art while simple is really effective and fighting while descending a massive spiral stairs is a really cool concept!
Really innovative! It took me some time to figure out what I had to do. Just a little suggestion: add keyboard control. Great job!!!
Nice graphics, the endless stairwell down is a great take on the theme. One issue I had: When the second bar (exhaustion? stamina?) reaches zero, there is no way to attack or block, and the bar does not replenish while being attacked, so it is essentially game over? Otherwise I liked it, a little sound would be nice :) Great work for compo!
The stairs gives it a really unique look. I would have preferred to have the buttons be tied to keys, and not having to click the green box would have made it a little bit more fun for me. I like the concept of fighting on a spiral staircase though, made me think of a swashbuckling fight sequence. Good job.
Distinctive visuals, interesting idea. I wish that there was a little more variety to the gameplay starting out, and it's tough to know what to do early on. Would have liked more sound effects and music.
Took me a minute to understand how to even fight the first enemy. Guess I'm blind at reading the instructions though haha. Definitely cool concept of turn based fighting.
Nice game! I was a bit confused about the controls, eg didn't realise I had to click the green block to attack. Wasnt ever sure what exactly the two bars on the top of the screen were for.
Having to click the second time to attack was kinda weird feeling but art style was great.
As someone who loves to play games and love to discover new games I can see that this is a game with a lot of potential it might even be more popular than [flappy bird](https://flappybird9.com).
