Fun game !

The narration is a great addition, especially for a ludum dare game imo, it makes the experience much more enjoyable.

The mechanic of the final fight was interesting. Although I sometime had a bug where my ship would be of the wrong color (blue when I didn't have the buff or the other way around), I think it comes from hitting the boss then picking up and antibiotic before moving out of the enemy hitbox.

Plays very smoothly, well done.

One thing I wanted to point out is that IRL antibiotics don't kill viruses, only bacteria. The rest of the game seemed scientifically accurate.

I like your game. simple yet effective game loop and very easy to understand and and enjoy. i would add some guidance of direction to next closest virus and home. maybe how many enemies still remaining. but great job. i had fun.

Funny dialogues) Interesting using of theme. Well done!)))

usenrame 2021-04-27 12:30

Great dialogues and setting

flaterectomy 2021-04-27 12:31

A clear and easy to understand base mechanic. Entertaining dialogue as well, though it was a little difficult to balance playing the game while reading it, so I ended up just waiting at the start for the dialogue to end.

The boss battle was a little unclear to me. I think I needed to hit the boss while I had the antibiotic buff, and damage him that way? After a few tries I couldn't really tell I was doing actual damage though, it felt like feedback was missing there.

The narration adds a great reason to keep playing, even if it was a bit weird sometimes. I would have liked the levels to feel a bit more designed so that I had to manage the viruses/antibiotic. I really liked the boss fight though, that tested my knowledge of the movement system from the base game. The environments graphics are really cool!

Simple concept but cool implementation! The gameplay feels smooth and I like it. The dialogues add some additional mood to the game, Well done!

Very fun game! I have to agree with @jedemac - The narration really does make the experience awesome! I love the different characters and the ending was great too.

I loved it, the narration did it for me, but even the core mechanic while very simple was really engaging, got things flowing together with the narration and theme! +1 for the annoyance about the scientific aspect of it though :eyes: but that's such a minor thing in the scope of this rather lovely little game

usecondsomskid 2021-04-28 01:01

Thank you all for the kind words, this game was made in such a small time interval. I didn't expect such good feedback, I'm excited to try out all of your games. Cheers!

Ps: Sorry for the scientific inaccuracy @profan and @ditam Doc is a bit out of practice.

Great game! I just fell like the bloods cells should be a bit bigger and the dialogues faster.

saussol 2021-04-28 14:25

I like a lot too ^^ super simple mechanical but it works well !!

cope 2021-04-28 14:29

I enjoy the dialog. I lol'd when Santa joined the conversation!

doot 2021-04-28 14:41

I liked the game idea!

The simple gameplay was pleasing and went well with the focus on dialogues. The art and audio are clear and make everything very understandable. Great job!

I disliked the jokes about penetration and santa offering "nice women", I felt they were vulgar and out of place. The other dialogues are nice and funny!

fictions 2021-04-28 14:49

That's a realy cool entry and I love that you teach your game about the dialog. The only thing I would suggest is the dialog at another position, because you go down, it takes over a lot of the upcoming dangers. I think I would have prefered the dialog as a speech bubble on the ship itself. Other than that, I had a great time playing

very enjoyable gameplay. The plot was very...interesting. Felt like some sort of social expierment to see how much people would be willing to just accept at face value. everyone is terrible, and this patient's absolutley ridiculous paranoia was heeded by the doc as if it was normal. santa showed up, and that was just accepted, and he insisted that the creature in the patient's dream was always right as if he knew what it was beforehand. And all of this we never even saw, we simply heard it as we navigated blood vessels.

The repeated insistence that something was there by the rest of the cast when there was no sane reason to suspect as much, as well as all of the rest of the insanity, made it feel like ship was being gaslit. In conjunction with this idea, a lot of the other comments are correct in saying that an antibiotic would not work against a virus. But rather then changing what the doc calls it, a line or two of incredulity by ship(like: doc"these are your antibiotics the best thing for killing viruses etc" ship:"but aren't antibiotics for bacteria, not viruses? Wait, what is this stuff, really?" doc:"go get em, champ") would maybe be funny. Another thing was that viruses are prolly always smaller then blood cells, but my disbelief was suspended easily enough that it dosent really matter.

but yeah, overall the game was great, with fun gameplay and bizzare dialouge(in a good way). I would occasionally run into bacteria that becuase of the cell paths available to me seemed like they were impossible to collide with, which was kind of aggravating. then again given how the dialouge was seemingly to mess with ship its possible that can be considered a feature rather then a bug. Depends on how much you hate your players.

So it seemed the creature was right, something was there deeper. But i cant help wondering if perhaps "deeper" meant beyond the physical...

robotex 2021-04-28 17:41

The game is very beautiful and sounds are good. It uses the same idea as Out there: Omega Alliance

usecondsomskid 2021-04-28 19:45

Thank you so much @starvingmilk for your in depth review. In my planning of the game, the player wouldn't find anything deeper, and it would be some sort of psychological issue inside the ship's mind, and the bizzare dialogue is supposed to be there to accomodate for that. But sadly i did not have the time to properly execute my idea, too much studying and the fact that the jam is 48 hours didn't allow me to go 'DEEPER'. So i just went for some big virus that you have to defeat in the end.

But I'm glad to hear that you all are enjoying it. Thank you!

I had a lot of fun playing through this! It's an easy to follow game with a difficulty curve that ramps up appreciably as you go forward, with well put together graphics and music! The gameplay was easy to follow, but the narrative did a great job of providing you with something to focus on even going through the easier sections. It was also appropriately paced, such that I felt the narrative for a section was always wrapping up just about as I found my way to the exit for the section!

The humour was zaney but fun to listen to!

I had a few issues when going through where despite it being in range I couldn't travel from one blood cell to another, but that was remedied easily enough by going to another blood cell in range and traversing from there - it never caused so many issues that I ended up stuck.

Good job! ☆☆☆☆☆

Congrats for the entry! Loved your approach to the theme and the elegant mechanic! o/

lectvs 2021-04-29 03:31

Cool entry! Moving around by clicking the nodes is a bit weird, but the dialog made it well worth it. Ended up playing this on stream if you want to check it out  https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1004512553?t=00h53m00s

Good work, interesting game) Music sounds and the idea was very much liked. The constant subtitles beat on the ears, and everything else is cool

cavedens 2021-05-03 23:01

Took me a while to figure out but finally got the hang of it. Good Job.
