The atmosphere is great, really gives you a foreboding feeling!

That music is so creepy. I love it! That broken down ship is really sweet too.

I loved a lot about this! The melancholy music, the hand-crafted environment, even the way the camera follows a little behind instead of snapping to the character, they all really work together to set a kind of reflective mood. Good stuff!

Really cool how the dialogue evolved as I wandered around :D only feedback is that sometimes it was hard to tell what parts of the environment I would collider with vs which I could pass through. awesome atmospheric game tho

I like the art and the storyline is captivating. Well done. The "drilling" sound is really putting emphasis on the atmosphere, but I have to say it did become quite "annoying" after a while. Overall, well done !

Nice compo entry! The graphics are very nice. The music gets a bit annoying after a while. The controls are weird, need to get used to them. The mood is great, nice story.

A neat little scene to walk around in, I appreciated the level of detail included with the little monologues. The walking was a bit odd, very slow acceleration and I didn't understand the purpose of the dash since there was nothing to really avoid, and it didn't dash much anyway. Had some trouble finding which thing was meant to be the exit, it didn't really stand out against the environment. I do wish there was more to the story, I wasn't satisfied with the available slice.

Loved the graphics, set the mood very nicely. Same for the audio, really set the vibe however (the cello?) became a little repetitive after a while. The HTML version seemed quite broken as I rapidly spinned into a wall, the windows version worked well. Good job on the compo submission, the graphics alone looked like a lot of effort!

Congratulations on your game, you had a lot of dedication in the art part, some things didn't work well for me, the character seemed to be sliding like he was on the ice, many things that you did ended up getting lost like enemies and attacks, because I did what every player would go straight, would never go in the direction of the enemy, here I was finding the exit alone when I was almost giving up, some kind of differential is missing to know the exit, I hope I have helped, a big hug and I am also waiting for your feedback.

The HTML version is a little buggy I guess. I didn't get the experience as other comments. But for what I could see you managed to achieve great atmosphere.

Loved the art! Reminds me of an old DOS game. Not sure if this makes sense, but the movement felt like Blackthorne or OG Prince of Persia to me. Once I realized there was new dialogue, I found myself doubling back a lot to see what else I could learn. Awesome!

The cello (?) was a unique choice and added a special flavor, but was a bit plain. I enjoyed the (hand drawn?) art. The controls seemed a bit weird for what I thought would be a grippy, agile reptoid. I appreciated the dash to move a little faster. The html version had part of the dialogue cut off on the left, maybe some kind of window size issue. Overall I think you got the deep, dismal mood down pretty good.

dylan-fries 2021-05-07 19:47

Thanks everyone! The movement is using a rigidbody so it is a little "soft" feeling and could be improved. The music is actually a violin brought down to 1/4 speed to give it the depth. The art was hand drawn in Aseprite and thanks for the kind words about it, it was my main focus over the weekend (to the detriment of most other features). I would love to expand on this so thanks for all the feedback. I will look into the HTML version bugs, it probably is a UI window issue. I'm curious if anyone was able to run the Mac or Linux versions successfully? I know there was an earlier bug but I'm not sure if it is corrected now or not.

I would like to add more things to interact with however my goal for the weekend was to focus on art so most of that got cut and it turned into more of a narrative adventure. I appreciate all the feedback though!

Love the look and feel of the environment and character art. I did get a fair bit lost in it.

vixenmink 2021-05-08 01:34

Also got a little lost. Some reason the Unity applet kept loading bigger than the frame so I could only read part of the dialogue.

The atmosphere was really cool in this, and I loved how much work you put into the graphics, I like the style of them. I also had the same issues as others with the web version cutting off part of the dialogue.

I feel like the world and narrative of this game has a lot of potential. The artwork was really evocative and I love the "messiness" of the crash site compared to the earlier area. The shattered doors and the character's speculation about them definitely piqued my curiosity.

Here are my observations I jotted down as I was playing through: - the falling rocks seem to be on the wrong layer after landing (character walks "beneath" them) - the movement acceleration doesn't feel very good (but I thought the top speed was perfect. I love the contemplative feel that it brought to the game) -the art style and character animations are very stylish - the way the beetle creatures scurry away is pretty believable - would be nice if there was a delay before the text boxes disappear (I kept accidentally sliding out of the text box trigger before I could read the dialogue) - it's difficult to tell what is and isn't an obstacle in the crash site - I walked around a lot before I realized that the staircase was a staircase

Anyway, thanks for sharing this game! It was cool to explore.

A bit hard to play but really good atmosphere, I liked the graphics a lot !

Good job

*** Update build 12b** I have hopefully fixed the HTML text issue, so please let me know if there is still trouble! (you can also try full screen, which should help) (* I do seem to see a bit of a weird border issue, I will look into).

I definitely agree with a lot of the feedback on the movement and will tighten that up and release a post ld48 version. Thanks everyone for posting and the feedback!
