YES MY MINIONS DESTROY DA BLOCKS

blockerz 2021-04-27 01:04

I won! Still hung out to collect more coins after. What is so satisfying about video game coins? Also, there didn't seem to be a way to escape except Alt-F4. I liked the zombie assistants. I was unsure why there was a jump - maybe missed something there. Nice game for the time.

digitalcrest 2021-04-27 01:06

A nice and solid game, makes me think of a certain digging minigame in the game Okami. Felt a little prototypey due to lack of overall polish, but that's to be expected from a game made in 2 days.

tebon 2021-04-28 01:12

Controls very well. Gameplay a little repetitive, but it runs well!

secret-magic-404 2021-04-28 03:34

Awesome game! I ended up with exactly 1024 gold! :medal:

It feels great to have these minions dig for you, but it's also fun to shoot at the same time. Congratulations for making the game feel so good to play.

The only thing that would have made me enjoy the game even more is if the minions could move faster... but then again, I feel like their slow speed ensured the game was properly balanced.

Very nicely done. If you keep working on this game, I would be interested in following its development.

thijs-tak 2021-04-28 19:33

I liked it. When you get enough minions they dig almost everything instantly. They do move very slow though.

Good game.

rob-parker 2021-04-28 19:34

Really stable and well built game. I didn't understand how to control/force the zombies to spawn and go the direction i wanted which meant they tended to wander off down the coriddor i'd just dug out. But othewise good job!

pavelc 2021-04-28 20:28

Nice mechanics! I loved when half of my zombies would go into the other direction and I would come back to them to see what they dug up and got to collect all the coins they left behind, very satisfying.

crazykittens-892-yt 2021-04-30 14:41

I loved playing it and when I saw the lava above me I rushed! I had a funny thing happen with the zombies. They became one and 1-shotted everything! It was great to play but the graphics could have been better. The player and zombies could like like people, but other than that it was great!

gnaro 2021-04-30 15:22

@phealsout haha YEA! That is the feeling I was going for! @blockerz Awesome! I'm sorry about the quitting, I just didn't remember I had to do this  Jump is just an alternate means of movement, since you spend a lot of time walking I thought this is the kind of gamew design polish thing I could do! Also if you continuously jump when the ground is on fire you can avoid some damage!

@digitalcrest Thanks! That is what I was aiming for! I'm a game designer so I spent most of my time there and couldn't do anything else before I felt it was solid and fun

@tebon Thank you for playing and for the feedback! My goal was to keep the players actions simple but with time they made the game's dynamic shift from something like a resource management/clicker to a time management/idle as the game went on. However if I was to improve upon this I would surely address the players actions to be more engaging (and less "repetitive")!

@secret-magic-404 Congrats and thank you for your kind words! Game feeling is one of the things I value most and I'm very happy that it felt great for you! :v: You're absolutely correct, if I do continue developing this I'd start thinking on player actions and how they could affect minions, like movement buffs, direction and such.

@thijs-tak @pavelc YES! Man, I love to hear that you got that nice experience! At some point in dev the zombies would pick up coins for you, but I decided to change that so there could be this nice moment when you found out you chose the wrong side but all the loot would make it into a positive moment

@rob-parker Thank you! Since this was my first LD Compo I tried to work with simple mechanics that could be polished enough to be solid and fun! There is actually no way to force your minions in one direction or the other but to wait them to get to a wall. I liked the basic concept of not being able to directly control your minions but if I had more time I'd have implemented a skill to turn them around or something. If I continue developing it this is surely the path I'd take to further this design.

@crazykittens-892-yt Haha nice to hear this! I deliberately omitted any information about the lava floor so people could have this exact "teaching" moment. I'm very happy to know that this has paid off! And I do agree also about the graphics, they are really basic! I chose to spend more time testing and polishing the controls/design

lex 2021-05-01 15:48

Congratulations on your first Compo game! Making a whole game in just 48 hours, all by yourself, isn't exactly very easy.

Finished with 1027 coins, but I think I could have done better if I had some kind of timer to show how much time left I had until the lava comes.

Well done!

sunblast 2021-05-03 17:02

Nice and cute game! The game was a little easy but it was fun. Great job on your first Ludum Dare game!

david-mason 2021-05-03 17:13

Nice.

gnaro 2021-05-03 19:40

Thanks @sunblast ! For me its always a challenge tuning a game with no gameplay test time haha! In those cases I fear that I might be making it too hard

@david-mason Thank you :D

woolchara 2021-05-04 19:08

It wasn't easy for me (and it is good). and it was a little slow. overall it's very good and unique

jk5000 2021-05-13 13:19

This is a super simple and fun little game. The slow shooting felt a bit weird, and the game could used a bit more gameplay. But okay for first compo game, it's overall pretty good.

jonathan-lorenz 2021-05-13 17:16

I liked the idea of being able to raise the deads! However the zombies were a bit slow, so I had to do some of their work. A good idea that can be expanded!

zuvr 2021-05-17 10:50

I liked the fact that I had to put in some thought in order to plan well where I should focus my fire given where my minions were going. There were cases where it was right for me to help them progress, but other times where it was best to focus on a different direction and collect the coins once the minions progress enough.

I also feel that the mana reload time and use of bullets vs raising was really well balanced.

The coins were super satisfying and the game was intuitive and somewhat complete.

Great job!
