Nice game. The ambient is cool.

dyp54 2021-04-27 12:23

Yes verry fun, i like this game, good job !

viktor-dedek 2021-04-27 12:45

Is it only me, I can not properly jump, he jumps only a little bit and it does a strange sound. I coudnt get over the first climbing. Feels very buggy the movement. Let me know

denissobolev 2021-04-27 13:01

It looks interesting but the game as a whole did not impress me.

rayo 2021-04-29 21:55

@viktor-dedek, indeed there was a bug that jump speed is framerate dependent, we fixed it and different other bugs. Thanks for your feedback!

offdutyextractors 2021-04-29 22:50

A gigabyte is a bit much for a game jam game.

offdutyextractors 2021-04-29 23:04

The art was really nice, the instruments in the song sounded well made but the moving and jumping was really frustrating. In case you didn't before I suggest that you have a ray cast going down a certain distance from the player and only allows him to jump when it is touching the ground. This will result in a more consistent response when pressing the jump button and it will be easy to work the double jumping into.

gekko 2021-04-29 23:57

The game has a really good atmosphere, but I felt like the movement is glitchy and also way to fast. The running speed could be like half of what it is now, that way it would also fit the atmosphere better. I also had issues with jumping like others have said. Also 1.2GB is waaaaay to big for such a game.

gustavo-rocha 2021-04-30 15:00

Great visual and atmosphere. Great job!

pedrocoden 2021-04-30 17:08

wow, your game is so beautiful, congratulations

klaus-peter 2021-04-30 17:10

Wait, why is the *compressed* zip to download 1.2GB big?

michaelyount 2021-05-01 13:00

Great work on the game, Thanks. I really liked the flow of things and the art was nice.

oramun 2021-05-01 13:23

Good job, really like the mood and ambience of this game. I thought the character movement was very twitchy and it may have been a good idea to use space to jump rather than W as sometimes it made the double jump mechanics a lot harder... but maybe thats just me. I did have a pug at the start, when you start to run you get increased motion blur affect. Music was very good though and really added something to the atmosphere.

hexa3 2021-05-03 18:05

Visual and audio complement each other very well. Character control needs an improvement as now it feels a bit clunky.

ferocious-industries 2021-05-06 12:48

Thanks everyone! I can see we aimed a little high with the quality and I think we both understand that now.. This was my first Game Jam and I believe it was my partners first time as well. We were scrambling to come up with a decent idea on the first day, and so the file looks large because there are a few assets we imported, didnt use, and due to crunch time neglected to delete from the project before the build.. @OffDutyExtractors That's exactly what we did to begin with =).

This game was very fun to play. You really set a somber tone with the whole soundscape and visual aesthetic. The whole game made me think of Limbo and Inside. The shrinking mechanic was totally new though! And offered some interesting new puzzles that those games can't do. I've only played through once so far and I didn't get all of the hidden items. For the first play through it felt like avoiding shrinking into oblivion was enough challenge. But now there is a good reason to play again and solve these other puzzles!

I had a great time playing but I have a few notes. First off, it felt like the camera stayed a little too tight to the player. I think the camera movement could be dampened a little bit. My other note is that the player and blocks did some funny things on some edge cases sometimes. The blocks would sometimes sit on the edge of a cliff and not fall immediately. The player sometimes would do some funny behavior on collisions too. Seems like small things that can get tuned once you have more time. I didn't think any of these things really took away too much from the experience for me. Great game! I'm glad I played it

Pretty solid game you have created here. I must admit that at first I did not notice the shrinking, so reading the story was quite important. The idea is really nice, eventhough it does not match the theme on the first sight. You have used the assets in a very nice way and it is really pleasant experience for the player. Great job! If you keep working on it even after jam, I would be interested in seeing the final result :)

I had a lot of fun with this one, the shrinking mechanic was used cleverly to make challenging and interesting puzzles, the graphics and music set a really good tone and the intro text make me really interested and curious about the story! I hope to see more of it!

On stream, one of my suggestions was to increase the double jump height, but I think for the tone you are setting I think it would actually be more appropriate to remove the double jumping. The character is really responsive and easy to control, but almost feels like a character in an arcade game. It feels good to control him, just a little out of place!

It's cool that you added the orbs and timer for challenge runs, it's a great way to add more replayability (I could not find a couple of those hekkin orbs xD)

Great game, looking forward to more!

Cool game! Played it live at https://www.twitch.tv/leyamez

Was fun to play and the mechanic was super cool! I think you can go a bit more in depth with the shrinking and its effects on the level in further builds!

Thanks for dropping by the stream, and keep working on this game.. its the start of something for sure! :smile_cat:

ellladee 2021-05-09 06:11

Wow, it's so good!

This one was downright gorgeous. I love the mood y'all were able to set with this one. Absolutely top-notch work here. :ok_hand:

chrisap 2021-05-14 22:28

I love the shrinking mechanic, theres a lot to explore there. The jump is satisfying although sometimes it feels a little inconsistent, you could try resetting the velocity when the second jump activates to reset how the gravity is affecting the player character. Overall very cool game, reminds me a lot of limbo and the shinking character makes it look like little nightmares. Awesome aesthetics! Keep up the good work! <3

bluishgreenpro 2021-05-15 02:59

Excellent job! I appreciate that you were able to give the game a bit more life via replay-ability through collecting items / time scoring, although I still can't figure out how to get that obvious looking orb near the start of the second level. Would you consider making Space Jump? I find it a little easier than pressing W, and perhaps Shift could be used for grabbing / moving things?

pnkvrt 2021-05-15 16:46

Great work! Amazing atmosphere, the music and lightning set the tone perfectly. The mechanic is interesting and I would love to see what more you could do with it :). The 3D models look amazing. Well done!

I finally found time to play your game since you proposed it a few days ago in my stream (Tobugis here)

It took me a long time to get used to the control and understand what was making me shrink and what was not making me shrink, I guess I didn't pay enough attention to the intro text.

This game is beautiful and has an amazing atmosphere. It reminds me a lot of inside, but less creepy :smiling_imp:

I feel that the jumping is a bit off, but I don't know how to describe it properly. Sometimes, according to my size, the animation was clearly allowing the character to jump on top of a platform, but the physic denied it and the character got stock on the side of the platform then felt. I don't know what cause it, it made the game harder to understand.

However, once I got used to the quirkiness of the controls, this was really fun.

A last suggestion of improvement, if you ever decide to continue this game: when you get very small, most of the screen become black and it's a bit hard to distinguish between what is the background and what are game objects. It may be interesting to step the gamma up a notch, or to add a setting to change it as ever player screen is different.

Other than that, amazing entry! Congratulations!
