Gotta love the cute face of the balloon! :3 Also like the look of the laser as well as the overall aesthetic!

Not my type of games, but I had to play a pixel-art 2D game made with Unreal. There are couple of problems (like the About screen not fitting the 1920x1080 resolution). Also the music is a bit repetitive, so it would be great to have an option to turn it off. But other than that it's a solid game. The second level is a bit too punishing and lacks health restore pick-ups.
@bereg Thanks for playing! Sorry about the about screen must have no anchored it lol and I don't do music so I just put in some short things I made on beat box lol, I'll be sure to add a button to disable it next time, and I was gonna have a more concrete difficulty curve but I ran out of time lol It was my 1st game so I'll be sure to keep this in mind for next time XD
@phantom-lab Tysm!
I liked this a lot, and appreciated the tutorial level before ramping up the bullet hell difficulty. It sometimes felt like a reward getting hurt because of the balloon's face.
I really like the concept and the gameplay is fun. Ramp is for sure too extreme. Maybe just start with one of the obstacle types and add a new one each level. Great job! Love the Art!
Great game, the artwork was very good and the generous health system made the game feel nice to play. Good job!
Very cute balloon. I liked the open areas with lots of bullets, gave it a very nice shmup feeling. This was a fun little game!
Really nice game, I was pleasantly surprised to see a game like this made with UE.
The difficulty ramps up quite fast but I was not unfair. At times it was a bit panicky but identifying safe spots and moving to them is part of the genre.
My only points of frustration were that music was a bit agressive and the lack of checkpoint or any kind of save-states. Level 1 is easy to breeze through once you've played two or three times but it was still a bit frustating to do it over and over again.
Other than that the game feels and play nice, the controls work fine. It was a pretty enjoyable experience, congratulations on your entry !
Nice, challenging gameplay with the bullet evasion! I'm assuming there isn't an ending to the second level, or maybe I was just blind. I didn't feel like the difficulty ramped up much too quickly, since I think bullet hell games are generally more on the difficult side.
I love an art style and mechanics of the game, hope you will keep on working on it! Great job!
fun and challenging game play. good job.
Cool game! The controls felt really smooth and it felt not too hard but not too easy to dodge stuff, and also like you could sort of change the difficulty on your own by sprinting through everything if you wanted. There did seem to just be one continuously repeating sound effect that didn't really seem to sync up with anything and was a little distracting. Also, this maybe more personal choice but I kinda wish the levels were tad bit more linear, I kinda wanted the gameplay to be more focused on dodging interesting combinations of obstacles rather than trying to find a door. Overall though, really great job!
Is there an exit to the second level? I tried 5 or 6 times and couldn't find it! If there is, my bad, if not, a win state is a fundamental component of (most) games that should be prioritised!
You did really well otherwise. You got quite a bit done in the 48h - variety of graphics and music / sound. A variety of obstacles. Cute story. Well done.
@mark-a-pressler Thanks! Yeah the sound you're hearing is probably the turrets, they used to spin, but I decided it was best for them to just shoot all 4 bullets at once and must have forgot to remove the spin sounds lmao Also sorry about the door, I never really thought about how hard it would be to actually find it lol, should have put like a map or something (not that I know how to do that, I'm still new to this lmao)
The art is quite good and I really love the music! I'm impressed in how many songs you were able to make and you have good variety in your enemies too! Some of the sounds are a little hard on the ears, so you might want to soften that a bit.
Couldn't get this one running on my end but I really like where you are going with this concept
The only thing I can claim to dislike is that the shot sound effect keep overriding the music. I really like the second levels music, so this sound issue annoyed me a lot.
You should add transitions between the themes though, its a bit rough to jump from one theme to another
I was really enjoying just exploring the place, which I guess is a complement to the art. I was kind of disappointed it ended so soon. Both levels I stumbled upon the exit on accident, which is fine by me
If i want something more out of this game, its more balloon animations. They don't have anything unique for moving and i think you could give them a lot more character.
Pretty fun game, my critics:
- I don't think you should have to play though the tutorial every time you die
- It's really easy to get lost in the second level and I don't think that should happen in this kind of game
- This might sound a bit ridiculous but the player has too much hp, I am guessing the game is supposed to really hard and that doesn't really show when you can just run through a lot of the projectiles searching for more hp
