This is a fun little game, even though I keep dying
Pretty nice and short game! The squid got me the first time. Good job on the cut-scenes!
The concept of it being turnbased was neat. It made it more interesting as a whole. I wish there was a rating for just mechanics or something because that was what appealed to me the most
I also had some trouble with dying, was tough to figure out how the squids attacked you, but I enjoyed the idea!
The turnbased concept was really unique, and not something I have seen before at all! I really REALLY enjoyed the art with this one, it was insanely good. Furthermore, killing stuff felt fricken awesome, just crushing it with the rock felt really satisfying. Great job! I had a lot of fun with this one
Couldn't get past the piranha and I quit after trying some times because I couldn't skip the intro (or didn't find the key to do so)
Anyways innovative idea making this kind of turn based puzzle :) Graphics were simple but nice, music was simple and got irritating before long. I would have liked to turn it off, or volume down compared to sfx. Ok use of the theme.
Intro looked funny and it made true one of my phobias, dropping the smartphone into water :D
LOL that intro. I like how the phone fell out even though he was just standing there.
I really liked the turnbased twist. When it comes to turnbased vs realtime, a lot of people often opt for realtime for a more actiony feel. What they forget is that you can create a lot more complexity and depth of situations in a turnbased setting because the player has time to think about the situation (like AOE vs Civ). Because of that, it was interesting to see your game where you could plot out when you wanted to use your bubbles and how you wanted to kill the enemies in front of you. The piranha required a bit of oldschool Rogue know-how to beat effectively.
So the game has a lot of potential to go further. I really liked how tense it got in the final puzzle when you're running out of oxygen and need to squeeze by the squids. There's a lot of room for more of that stuff if you wanted to tighten up the oxygen nodes and force players to be real careful about their moves.
Really cool idea overall. I only caught one bug. I was able to move the rock more than 1 square by hitting arrows multiple times during interaction. I was looking forward to abusing this but couldn't reproduce :P
I GOT MY SMARTPHONE BACK! (tho idk if still working) I liked the cinematic but it is a bummer to have to see it every time you have to restart the game. The music is great just like the art. If I would have to add something it would be some polish, like camera shake and stuff. The mechanic of being turn based underwater is something new for me in this ldjam, overall great game!!!
it's a very cool game. I am amazed that you were able to make a strategy game with turns and enemies.
@peachtreeoath thanks, I thought the levels definitely were pretty tense toward the end too, one of the other team members did the level design and I couldn't even beat it until after we'd submitted it lmao
and nice catch with that bug! I never noticed it before you pointed it out.
What an interesting idea. The game is fun and has great graphics.
The intro was really creative, but I wanted to be able to skip it after I die
Overall great game, good job guys.
Interesting game mechanic and a nice take on the theme. The intro was cool but maybe add a skip button for when you die. Good job !
Too many competing mechanics kind of clutters the game and overwhelms the player and the movement is annoying to use, besides that I like the concept and it feels very pollished.
I like the mecanics. I feel like im running our of oxygen way too often. Difficulty may need tweeking. Everthing elses is well done.
Difficult one. Run out of oxygen way to quick - at least for the beginning to understand everything. Interesting idea to make this turn based and it fits the theme. I died two times for reasons unknown. I still had oxygen and only a squid was on the screen but far away from me. So I dont know if I missed something or what happend there. Music was nice but repetetive after the 5th try, and the graphics where solid.
Very nice looking game! I think the squid in the second room hit me through the boulder, and the game is definitely challenging given the limited moves. I made it to the 3rd room because those fish are very tricky! Also the boulder interaction possibly could have been made simpler. Overall cool idea and nice graphics.
Great game! The audio was great, and the game mechanics and puzzles were really fun. I think my only issue was that it took me a bit in the second level to figure out that the explosions taking away my oxygen were coming from the octopuses as ink blasts. Perhaps there could be a way to make that more clear? Other than that, great game. Well done!
