Ahhh well done, funny as & definitely stuck with the theme

Some quick feedback, the jump is too short to clear some of the early platforms. It becomes a huge problem, however, because it is essentially luck based whether I am able to jump onto certain platforms that are clearly designed for me to get onto. Please consider uploading a modified build with a slightly increased jump height. Otherwise, pretty cool game. Considering the time it took to make I think you did a wonderful job.

Edit: after playing through with the fixed jump height its much less frustrating and an overall smoother experience. Thank You

That was fun :) the humour kept me engaged and the controls were simple. good work

wallaby 2020-10-06 02:42

Great game! The only thing I didn't like about it was the ALT control, everything else is GREAT!

tarvisplays 2020-10-06 04:29

@slammer Thanks for playing!

@seth-tal Thank you for playing and finding the jumping issues! Glad the update helped!

@maximevincent Thanks for playing, I appreciate the kind words!

@wallaby Thanks for playing! What key would you suggest I use? This was my first game and would love to know your feedback!

wallaby 2020-10-06 05:04

@tarvisplays I would suggest you to use Z instead of Space and X instead of Alt

elizir 2020-10-06 07:20

Nice game :smile: had fun playing it.. kinda reminded me of the portal games when the AI was speaking.. very funny and great humor! Love it :heart:

tarvisplays 2020-10-06 18:08

@elizir Thanks for playing! Portal 2 is one of my favorite games! You can read my devlog to see what sparked this game, but portal is always in my mind! LOL

xiyou 2020-10-06 18:51

Very interesting game, I like it. However during the platform jumping on the third level I always accidentally fell off. This made me try many times.

afestivedolphin 2020-10-06 19:01

I loved the narrator idea! It was a funny and interesting experience. I really liked the way you executed the theme too! Being stuck at level one is a funny idea! Really liked the artwork, adds to the atmosphere along with sound and music. The cheeky end was pretty funny, gave me major portal vibes.

Edit: Also wanted to mention perhaps having a save spot after the loop? It can be tedious to play the entire game all over again after you lose all your lives.

mikesalyh 2020-10-06 19:01

This is one of the most innovative games I've played so far! Awesome work! I really dig the humor and character of it. The ending was funny too.

The third platforming level was especially hard though: I kept dying & getting back to that level was a slog.

tarvisplays 2020-10-06 20:32

@mikesalyh @afestivedolphin That is a good point! I will keep that feedback in mind for the next game I make. I did not really experience the game loop after I lost all my lives. This is very constructive and I will be sure to implement something like a save point in my next jam/game! Thanks for playing! :smiley: :thumbsup:

tarvisplays 2020-10-06 20:34

@xiyou Thanks for playing! I now realize that I needed a safe spot after the initial loop. I will be sure to keep this in mind for my next project! :smile: :thumbsup:

barelyevengames 2020-10-06 23:00

Very cute project! Loved the little TV talking to you. Had some real personality! I missed a lot of what he said when the exit wasn't blocked out though. Fun ending too :)

tarvisplays 2020-10-06 23:42

@barelyevengames Thank you for playing!

spawncampgames 2020-10-07 04:02

Short and sweet.. Nice platformer man.

gonzalol 2020-10-07 09:31

Good job. I like the concept art, specially of the talking monitor.

tarvisplays 2020-10-07 14:14

@gonzalol Thanks for playing!

@spawncampgames Thanks for playing!

integrated-rk 2020-10-07 20:09

Nice game I loved it especially the narration :) I have made a game too do play it :D

tarvisplays 2020-10-07 20:13

@integrated-rk Thanks for playing! I will check it out :)

thanielpin 2020-10-07 23:39

The platforming mechanics could use some work but this was definitely an interesting take on the theme. I loved the talking monitor!

tarvisplays 2020-10-08 03:50

@thanielpin Thanks for playing! What suggestions do you have?

rvenson 2020-10-09 01:37

Clearly inspired by one of my favorite games 😁! I love it! The narration really highlighted the game. Maybe the levels solution are too scripted. I really don't feel difficult to finish any level. But it's a really nice concept and could be explored more off ludum dare. Amazing final scene! Nice work!

tarvisplays 2020-10-09 02:23

@rvenson Thank you! I agree that the level solutions are very easy, but this was more of a "Can I accomplish what I set out" more than a polished concept! I think I may work on this game more, but it will need some major refactoring! Thanks for playing and for the amazing feedback!

johnnyr 2020-10-09 15:26

Nice game you got there! Looking quite well polished and fun. Also, I just loved the talking AI! Congratulations!

gregoryblomquist 2020-10-10 19:47

Fun little puzzle platformer with good pixel art and, as a few people have already mentioned, a strong dash of Portal vibes and humor! Though it was short, it offered a nice range of obstacles and solutions. I hope you keep working on it! Great job!

wiseclock 2020-10-11 10:35

Like the game so much! Is the narration inspired by GLaDOS? 🤣

game-endeavor 2020-10-11 16:28

Nice game. :) I didn't get to experience much beyond the first few levels due to running out of lives and the game starting over entirely, and I didn't want to play through the looped first level again. But what I did play felt like a well done platformer. I would suggest comibining your pickup and throw button into one. If you're holding the item then it becomes a throw button. It's always a little confusing in games when they're separate buttons imo.

danielblanco3d 2020-10-16 09:00

Nice and clever storytelling during a platform game! I like computer voice and expressions. Good Job!

ranjan 2020-10-26 02:15

Nice! The voice work was really well done, and the theme was integrated well.
