Such a cute game! Absolutely loved my lil ginger kitty! Good concept too although I found it very difficult to attack the nightmares without touching them given the tiny attack range but I guess this is something you would have worked on if you had more time.

If the cat's paw/attack radius was larger it would've been less frustrating to attack >_< I like the detail in the background and the inclusion of platforms in the furniture, but would be nice to have a directional jump instead of just up.

as others have said the attack range is problematic but i think its fine. you dont have to win every game and you play as a cat fighting nightmare demons. its not a fair fight but the player tries until the bitter end to fight a battle they could never win, just to let its dear human sleep in peace. if however you wanted to make the cat more powerful i'd suggest going wild with it and give the cat lazer eyes or a magic sword

@radmccool Thank you! We just haven't had enough time to make this balanced and add winning condition. Attack range is a problem indeed

It was quite difficult to attack enemies without dying, other than that its a cute little game.

As a cat owner, I loved this. Good art work, and fun to jump around. :)

One little suggestion is to add some feed back when the cat attacks and hits a nightmare. I accidentally killed my self a few times trying to get closer to hit them.

I'm not sure what the purpose of dash is, but I was able to get rid of a few nightmares with the paw attack. I really like the pixel art in this game. I wish I could see more.

The attack radius was my only issue with the game, other than that it was very nice :)

The game was fun, but the graphics were bad and the mood was deafened.

Very nice one! I really liked the art, especially the tiny attack animation.

There is not enough feedback when attacking nightmares, I don't even know if I can attack them without taking damage. Maybe some very simple audio would have helped.

Thank you for this game!

Oooow ! Protect hooman from nightmares I must ! There's not a lot to say except that it would only need a few things to have a proper game such as feedbacks on when you touch the nightmares, one pixel size (too many different sizes here), maybe a score so we can see how far we go, and some sounds. It's a promising prototype though, I can imagine with no problem the fun I would have had with the game if it was finished. Good luck on your future jams ! :)

Meeoooww! Great graphics, idea, but I kept dying! I'm not sure how I was supposed to defeat the nightmares.

claytonrumley 2020-05-12 16:15

Cute game, but yeah, so hard to protect the hooman without getting hurt. Some variation in the nightmares would be interesting too, such as ones that can only be hurt if you're on a higher surface vs. the floor, etc.

Couldn't figure out a way to attack the nightmares without taking damage.

You will need to find some interesting gameplay to continue. Otherwise it will get dull rather quickly.

A really cute game, I absolutely love the idea. It seems to be very well implemented, minus one major flaw that most others have pointed out; attacking is too difficult to do without getting hit at the same time. Increasing the radius of the paw, or just making sure it's ahead of the cat's head so it doesn't get in the way, would solve this. The gameplay itself is decent for a game jam as well, although I imagine it would get dull if the player could actually kill the nightmares because there doesn't seem to be a lot of variation. This has a lot of potential, good work!
