Tough game to figure out if I'm honest, fed the flame with twigs but didnt seem to make any difference! Would give it another go if some tips can be provided?

razi 2020-04-21 11:10

@sami If you dont feed the fire you will die from cold, you can pick up the fire to move it around.

Very simple game. I like that you made a menu screen. The game was a little lagged, don't know why. Time is short, but I would liked to see some other mechanic, like enemies or whatever. Nice job, you did make a game in 3 days :D

The exact objective wasn't very clear to me - but I'm not great at games so that might have just been me. I loved the mood set by the graphics and ambiance, I liked the sfx a lot.

Initially, I thought I'd have wanted some music, but I quickly realized that it would have taken away from the atmosphere. Great job there!

Maybe an improvement might be a more explicit win/loss condition and explanation for the slower folks like me? :)

All in all, really cool! I liked it.

gus-goucher 2020-04-22 12:23

Seemed like it could use more content/enemies, but I liked what you have so far and the mood was set well!

This game is fun, but very repetitive. It gets boring quite quickly. I think the problem with the fire is, that you get very little visual feedback for your actions. Just some particles would make a huge difference. And there isn't a day, which is kinda weird, because at the end it says how many nights you survived. If there was a day, you would always wait it to come, so there is kinda always a goal.

However, all the content in this game was very well done. The menu, idea, and I loved the art

I like the simplicity of mechanics but I was missing some clear connection with fire and the thermometer on the right side. I kept feeding fire but it run out anyway. I think there could be more dangers/enemies - I survived for 2 days and didn't meet anyone. Sound FX are really nice atmospheric but it would be great with some ambient music.

The idea is interesting, but it my opinion it lacks a bit of interesting decisions and things to do other than exploration. Well done anyway! :)

Thanks everybody for the feedback!

@leonardo-fraga The game lags on some devices and on others it's completely fine. It bugged us during development but we didn't have time to fix it. Btw there are enemies, you just need to find them :)

@eugenio-bruno Yeah the game is ambigious in a lot of ways but we decided that was the experience we were going for. Survival and exploration without a lot of explanation. There are a couple things to find in the world if you explore enough but I guess the main game loop isn't engaging enough for most people to explore that far.

@gus-goucher That's an area we definitely lacked, thanks a lot for the feedback and kind words :)

@tsombi100 Yes the game indeed get's repetetive. The fire is supposed to change size depending on the amount of fuel it has. We didn't have time to implement a day/night cycle and we needed a way to score the player so we just decided that in this world it is always night. :)

@morriekken Hey Rafal! The fire has it's own fuel and grows and shrinks based on that amoung and the thermometer shows your body temperature. The bigger your fire gets the warmer it gets thus your body temperature increases. :)

@khud0 Thank you for playing our game! :D

gamescodedogs 2020-04-22 15:07

Thank for the game :) I really like the art style and how you play around the theme. It very natural so I think any player will easily understand what to do in the game :) Wish you the best of luck!

@gamescodedogs Your welcome, we're glad you enjoyed it :)

Wow, thanks everyone for the awesome feedback. This was actually the first game jam I have been a part of! I was worried that no one would get to see our game or that no one would have any positive feed back for us. It was a wonderful experience and you all made it that much better. I most definitely going to do more of these game jams in the future!

razi 2020-04-25 04:58

Thanks everyone for the feed back :) Like the others said, our first game, and we really enjoyed the JAM!

grandtheftmarmot 2020-05-11 00:39

This was really great! Kind of like a more peaceful but hopeless Don't Starve vibe. I enjoyed it a lot. I didn't realize you could move the fire until I read the comments here. You might want to write that somewhere more easily visible. Awesome job though.

emil0227 2020-05-11 02:47

Very impressive!! I loved the art so much, and the controls were very smooth! The sound effect of the wolf (?) came all of a sudden and frightened me, but i really liked that! If the game could have an ending that will be perfect : )

maryush28 2020-05-11 03:23

the idea was cool, but some mechanics were inconsistent - standing by the fire did not raise body temperature. I also managed to get away from the board - it is worth ensuring that the player cannot escape, even by giving invisible colliders. Animation, graphics and sounds quite well chosen. I also couldn't find any opponent or find the goal of the game - you could add something like "return to a warm home". firecamp.png

Looks really good and plays well. The game doesn't have much to do, and it feels like there's no way to escape the inevitable freezing to death. On the other hand, I guess that enhanced the game's feeling. And the ambiance was another thing I enjoyed. Good job!
