The combat is actually quite convincing, watching the little characters jump around like that was cool.
It took me a while to get a hang of the balancing and dodging mechanics, and I still don't think I'm there; but I definitely think that if I put some time into it I could stay alive in that balancing mini game.
Not sure what all the stats did so I just made my KungFu Grandpa _stronk_ and it seemed to work.

I love the sprites, looks really nice. Not personally a big fan of the gameplay though. It feels like there should be something to do during the combat, maybe abilities or something to help deal damage or heal?

Very fun game ! I feel like Jean Claude Van Damme ! I just think the battle is a few poor. Good Work ! I want to be like that when I'm old. XD
Pixel art is good but the music is a bit repetitive.Fighting phase is a bit confused, but the training phase was very fun !
I liked the game its really fun and the controls felt solid

I really like games that use pixel art. Your game is very fun, the color is also quite fresh

You did such a great job! Nice pixel art, and finally a funny game.
Love the art and the balancing mechanic for training is very unique! Though I wasn't sure if I was supposed to be doing anything during the battles or just watch.
Also, would have been nice to get one second once you click "train" to move your hand from mouse to keyboard.
Love the artwork and style of the game! Balance game was frustratingly fun; I'd imagine maybe a piano player or someone trained to use their fingers on each hand independently might have an easier time, but it felt like a challenge to get better. I enjoyed that. The fights needed a bit more. There was no story or text explaining the fight boxes or the benefits the stats provided. I'd like to see more of that. Great Job.
The training was pretty fun. I have no clue what the stats do or how the fighting works. I enjoyed it though.

Great Concept. The training was irritating at first, but kept on getting better and better (kind of addicting). The fighting was weird though... even after 20 skillpoints i couldnt beat the first fight. The enemy kept refreshing bar after bar ^^'
挺有趣的训练模式,很巧妙的运用了主题。后续战斗部分如果能有更多交互体验和反馈,或许会更棒?期待!
I was laughing already just at the title.
I enjoyed it quite a bit! The music was quite fitting, I wish the experience gained was a bit faster, especially if you manage to dodge the bricks for a long amount of time. It be interesting to see different trainings for different skills! I think you could get away less skill variety in that case.
Great job on your entry! :)
Art is great, thats your strength gameplay the idea is good but problem is its unfinished I think. My suggestions are; The longer you stay balanced the faster your exp should rise. Have the train button be a keyboard key and not mouse cause you click mouse then need to quickly go to keyboard. Have limited amount of training session before a fight.

Here's some tips:
Clicking with the mouse and quickly switching to the mouse keys is hard. Give the player some buffer time, Rend combacts more quick if you plan to keep it non interactable (Also, the enemys remaining counter is missing). Also explain to the player what each skill does. Exapmple >> Str: Strenght: Increments Grandpa's Power. The training minigame is fun, but too repetiting, and boring after a while. Spyce it up, maybe with some collectables...
And that's all I have to say. As always, great game!!!
fun idea, but a bit hard! It takes too long to gains levels :scream: I see that it's your first game on itch, so I recommend to keep on!

I would like to play your game, but I can't because of a ratio issue (1920x1080 - 16:9), indeed, I can't hit "Fight", it is cut as you can see on this screenshot:

Do you have a workaround to fix that ?

Very fun game game, had me chuckling all throughout, bit unclear when you win or lose, and the song got a bit grating after a bit.
The balancing gameplay is fun and simple but takes a while to properly get the hang of, which is rewarding and keeps it from getting stale too quickly. It was fun to try to survive for as long as possible in training - but there weren't really any tangible rewards for doing so. It would be nice if you gained exp faster the longer you survived in a single training session so there was more of a punishment for losing and more of a feeling of progression to mastering the controls.
I think the pace of the game was a bit out of whack - it quickly becomes very time consuming to gain levels, and the enemy fights ramp up in difficulty very quickly. I ended up quitting after I beat the second fighting round because it didn't seem worth it to go for the third. I think there should be a bunch more rounds of fighting with a much shallower ramp up in difficulty - I could easily see the current 3rd round being the 10th round.
The pixel art graphics are nice - I like Grandpa and his poses a lot. My only gripe is that some stuff like the text isn't in pixel style.
