This game was alright. It's not too polished, but I liked the setting and the ridiculousness of it!

Congrats on your first Compo entry! Had some good minutes of fun with it!
Fun fact: the "AI" on your game made me recall of the name of a very old DOS game, "Bouncing Babies", so I looked for an online version of it. Your game is *way* better
Actually the perfect game! I had a lot of fun, and there was a lot of content made for such a short timespan. Good job!
@lmb Thanks so much. I knew it was "hard mode", but I was surprised just how much harder the compo is than the jam. It feels good just to get anything finished with these constraints, doesn't it?
Oh wow - and I looked up Bouncing Babies and I've definitely played that at some point. The memories came rushing back.
Congrats on making the game
I had a log of fun with this game. I enjoyed having to clean up after this child and keeping them away from outlets. I would say that having a soundtrack would add to the game. P.S I also enjoyed the outer spacey names.
Cool game! Wow the third level was really tough, especially after the first two relatively simple ones. Things I didn't like: The Sfx for the fire were very repetitive and loud, it was hard to know where will the baby go after it collided with you. I had no problem with the time it took to prepare the bottle but cleaning the mess and fixing the outlets took a lot longer than expected. The game lacks polish, but it's your first compo so you'll definitely learn from this! Congrats on getting a game done, especially a super interesting one! Btw the ending was nice
oh- haHAA! Ohhh nooo! The babies just burst into flames when touching the bottler? Oh my lord, i feel bad for laughing but ha! What a game. Great work.
Hahaaaaaa this is great! The last level was so hard but also a great use of all the mechanics. I finished the game wishing that there was more content because everything in the game was so fun :D
Good way to introduce new mechanics!
Nice Epilogue. :) Such a happy robot.
Pretty funny!
Instead of huge walls of text, I think it'd be better to feed that text like one paragraph at a time. Sure, it would be the same amount to read but in a less intimidating and not so inviting for a skip. Of course it would need to be changed not to be a letter but just the parents telling the "rules" instead.
The graphics were a bit messy and quite unclear on the hud bits. Went for a second playthrough and even then had to kinda focus on them to see what they're supposed to mean. Did not like the colour selection at all. It was very, umm, mspaint default colour swatch. The game also had some z fighting issues. At least the action bar thingy was constantly below some other sprites and so on. The house also felt very deserted, could have used some non-functional decorations. Like throw a carpet in there.
Then there was the balancing. The first level was fine I guess. I accidentally skipped the last paragraph of the letter so whole baby dying on the machine was confusing at first. And since the food hud was so unclear, I kept overfeeding the baby even though I noticed on the second run that the two bottles are more than enough. The hunger death could come a bit faster, compared to all other dangers, that one is way too generous.
The second level balancing was off too. It was way too easy and boring. You should have kept the feeding there too in my opinion instead of going backwards on difficulty. If you make the baby eat some shit, they slow down with no real downside. That's a good lesson for life. The third level was where the game actually started picking up the pace and got interesting. And of course this is where the game ended also...
Desperately would have needed more content. The third level was like the end of the tutorial introducing the mechanics. And once the player has grasped them, the game is already over. Such a wasted opportunity. Even with the current mechanics, you could design a plethora of different levels without still getting repetitive. And of course coming up with new dangers wouldn't be too hard either. Then what about multiple babies? That might be a good way to put your multitasking and prioritizing to the test.
So yeah, great idea with just enough depth while still remaining simple to grasp. The execution just needs some polish. Like spice up and clarify the sprite work. I'd completely replace the colour palette with something more harmonious and eye pleasing. That's about it, then just would need a buttload more content. Good job!
This is a compo game?? Well done, you got 3 levels and a crazy concept done in that time! I dunno why I was lucky enough that the baby never died from all of the electrical outlets but I'm glad cuz that would've been an insane level! And hey, the cake ISN'T a lie!
This is definitely a creative spin on the theme! I found it pretty funny and for the most part enjoyable! I think you can expand on these ideas, and make a better game as well!
I do think the game has an easy factor, in that you can jam the baby in a corner and keep them there. I would look at fixing that. Also, I think you should be able to make multiple bottles of milk in a row. When I try to go to the furnace multiple times, I always end up picking up a bottle of milk. I would look at making those two improvements.
Good start, but keep working towards something bigger!
Really enjoyed this one! Few but quite nice game mechanics to play around with and that fiddly baby to keep under control! Found that you could temporarly get him stuck in walls, but as it still did not make for a guaranteed victory i found it to be a neat quirk to the game
Really fun and enjoyable to play. There was some mutlitasking madness for level 3. The mechanics felt intuitive and unique. Great work!
