A very interesting take on the theme, i liked it a lot.

beeplettuce 2020-04-21 10:47

Wow this was really cool! It felt like a very fresh experience, I loved the theme and mood of the game. Well done!

adinimys 2020-04-21 10:47

@xdsilentstorm Thanks ! What result did you get at the end of it ? How easy was it to guess what the public liked/disliked ? I'll also check out your game, obviously ^^

gabrielh 2020-04-21 10:48

Very interesting concept, the graphics make for a very charming experience. It does feel a bit too straight forward, some more indirect signals for the crowd's reaction would be a appreciated. Amazing job!

forging-foxes 2020-04-21 10:55

Really love this, my only negative point would be splitting up the text into smaller points, its hard to focus on it all at once. I would like to see more environmental storytelling that could tell the player what lies would be easier to tell in what area, if yous build upon what you have here that is!

bozont 2020-04-21 10:56

Amazing use of the theme, and a very unique, and fun mechanic

bziarkowski 2020-04-21 11:02

Unfortunately I didn't manage to reach every village. But I liked this game overall. Nice art and sound effects.

hello-st 2020-04-21 11:04

Really enjoyed the game! It was a unique take on the theme and was fun and challenging. There was a bit too much text to read between each town, but other than that it was awesome. Great job :)

fat-cat 2020-04-21 11:06

The crowd reactions can be a bit unpredictable (for example Herenven did not like that I said the king was compassionate, I chose that because the city was founded to welcome the opressed so it made sense, and the dragon slayer camp didn't like that I chose courage) but I like the idea a lot, it feels unique. This would be fitting as a little minigame as part of a larger game about traveling between cities. The artwork is very well done and the music fits nicely!

adinimys 2020-04-21 11:15

@fat-cat Oh, I didn't see it as a mini-game inside a bigger game before but it's a great idea (no bigger game plan right now though :P )

Yeah, we discussed a long time about the different reactions as a team and they could be playtested more as our internal thinking is not always the most clear to all players. But in a jam setting we lacked time for that ^^ Glad you liked it though !

adinimys 2020-04-21 11:16

@forging-foxes Yeah we were going for more environmental storytelling but sadly lacked the time. That's why some assets are way less polished than other (liked the weapons for example)

miiyuka 2020-04-21 11:28

I loved this interpretation of the theme, I played multiple times to get the right ending and it was very entertaining, overall an excellent work!

jayesstee 2020-04-21 11:32

Today I learned that the life of a bard is hard. Concept is great, a nice twist on the theme. Text in between songs/villages could maybe be broken up a bit more/made more concise.

jsladovic 2020-04-21 11:43

Great concept and a lovely play on the theme, well done!

moolamu 2020-04-21 11:44

It's a pretty novel take on "taking it alive". It's like a mini peaceful DnD experience playing as a Bard with lots of text-based lore to read. Overall quite intriguing!

akitl 2020-04-21 12:18

prety cool, and original !

kara 2020-04-21 14:15

Music, graphics and the writing create a nice atmosphere. Well played!

sledzik 2020-04-21 14:16

Good job

ironygames 2020-04-21 14:30

Definitely a unique experience, I like how the challenge is less inside the game and more inside your mind, trying to decypher what could appease each crowd coming from the description.

As feedback, I'd have liked if every unique verse came with its own tune, so I could feel more like crafting a unique story each time.

andrew-david 2020-04-21 18:42

This game was fun, you are really good at writing, keep it up.

brusi 2020-04-21 18:54

Very nice and clever! At first run I skipped the texts, but on the second I read it all and it was worth it!

In the second run I lied almost all the time and I thought I won (because I survived), but the legend died! What a great twist!

marakuya 2020-04-22 04:42

Great idea! It really can become a very deep, smart timekiller, that can create tons of stories!

bearding8 2020-04-22 13:58

An interesting and different game! Nice audio and artwork. I didn't know I could die from being broke :(

fabula-rasa 2020-04-22 17:14

I liked this game very much! Graphics are great, music is pleasant and the mechanics are inventive. But it's the storytelling that I will remember best. You had me already at the battle of the Cat Bridge :). Great jam entry! Really cool. I tired to be as truthful as I dared and this is what the people remembered of my king:

adinimys 2020-04-22 17:35

@fabula-rasa Great the hear about "King Andreval de Rosran the Courageous that did... something before he definitely died" :D

nutriz 2020-04-22 18:07

Very original them adaptation, love it ! Also the art are good and pleasant, the entire game is polished. Special mention for the writing, very immersive. All in one, your game is working very well on me.

fudgefiddle 2020-04-24 13:49

Wow this is very well done. I'm usually not one for story based games but this was definitely fun and has replayability. Very good entry.

vesper 2020-04-25 10:10

This was a really nice take on the theme, and has a fair amount of re-playability. But gosh, those villagers were hard to please. XD Truly, the life of a Bard 'tis not easy.

Very well done.

circleoflife 2020-04-26 16:39

Telling stories for the bard turned out to be more fun than I thought. I really liked the idea of the game, but it seems to me that it is almost impossible to tell a story so that everyone remembers only the truth, and at the same time you don’t break your bones.

adinimys 2020-04-26 16:58

@circleoflife It's true that it's really hard to get everything perfect. Assuming that few people would play more than once we wanted the game to be hard enough to avoid most of the people getting everything right. We felt it would kind of defeat the purpose of this "lie vs truth" mechanic if you could just tell the truth most of the time.

For sure if it was a bigger game we would have needed more time testing everything to assess how easy we wanted everything to be

marcusnystrand 2020-04-27 20:03

Fun and original idea!

I had a slamming concert in Coursart, but then I completely failed in Eisental, so on my way to Herenven I starved to death :(

Well done :)

2020-05-05 23:43

Really nice take on the theme! I included it in my Ludum Dare 46 compilation video series, if you want to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/HbpVWKRHlfc
