I played your game for quite some time but couldnt really make enough money. Maybe i am just bad farmer. Anyway, great entry!

noamraz 2020-04-21 15:54

nice game. all Have been right but there were some tileset errors. I like it.

abb1x 2020-04-21 17:35

Good idea ! the art and the sounds effects were very good !

maxathon 2020-04-21 17:35

Amazingly complete gameplay loop with some depth to it! Nice work!

tpzombie 2020-04-21 18:27

Cool game. I find this kind of farming games really addictive . Good job!

beavergames 2020-04-21 21:37

You did this much in just 3 days?! If you did the congrats. Your game is my favorite of all the one's that I've reviewed.

geryon-games 2020-04-21 21:45

Great game! Art looks great and the gameplay is nice. The game is kinda dark in general and might have benefited from some brightness on the sprites (or just some adjustments in post processing).

magus77 2020-04-21 21:46

@BeaverGames : yes we did make it in 3 days. Not a lot of sleep and just short breaks. Also I didn't use any framework code because i think that is against the spirit of the jam. We were jamming with the 2 of us (falien, my gf, and me). It was a blast, learned a lot from it and had loads of fun making this game. I think Falien is addicted to it now.

magus77 2020-04-21 21:49

@geryon-games : There is a day/night cycle, but i didn't have time to properly test if it works correctly. Mathematicly it should. In the beginning with just 1 or a few planters, there isn't much time needed to do all the tasks, but later in the game there is ;-) and in mid day the lights are bright. Maybe starting not from midnight but 6am would've helped too for realism but didn't have the time to polish that part out. I think we will make some updates to it in the future to correct that.

Crazy work for a jam game. V nice. Movement could feel better. Really impressed though.

demogorgon 2020-04-21 22:37

Took a bit to figure out how to get started, but then things made sense. Very impressive for 72 hours.

nicolas-diniz 2020-04-21 23:27

Wow the graphics are astonishing ! The whole feeling of the game is so nice ! The only downside is that the game is really immersive, so I want to play it fullscreen and it's annoying to close the shope, since by pressing ESC it throw you off fullscreen (when playing in HTML). Still, i'm amazed on how you did that in 72h ! Nicely Done !

gamer-fates 2020-04-21 23:40

gamer-fates 2020-04-21 23:40

Good job. Nice theme, graphic. Please continue working on post jam. This is awesome !!

Thanks for the game, here are a couple ideas/comments:

- I find the walking speed a bit low. I would have loved a “press shift to run” option wink - The range of the “read newspaper” action was so big I thought I could do something with the oven, which is not the case - I like the wind effect and the idea of the weather changes ^^ - I didn’t figure out the bed could be used to sleep until next day at first, and only found it eventually, might be good to include it in the newspaper text?

Interesting concept! I never expected a farming game with this topic, that's really creative.

After a few tries I finally understood the neccesary mechanics to make a complete playthrough, it was really fun.

Only issue I had is a bit of flickering with the tilesets when you play the HTML5 version, but the game is pretty damn good for only three days!

2020-04-22 06:34

suspiciously familiar artstyle to stardew valley. screen flickering issues. gameplay loop is unfun (for me).

I really tried to like this game, but now all I can think of is 'did they actually try to rip off Stardew Valley?'

magus77 2020-04-22 07:11

Thanks you so much guys, we made the 20 minimum rating this jam! Also thanks for the ideas and critiques, this is what we value for learning.

As for anonymous' comment, we were inspired by harvest moon. A lot of 2d farming games that came out since look like this mother of them all. Our game mechanics are totally different. If you play our game you will immediately experience that.

Hey! Finished playing now, and I really enjoyed exploring the place. The graphics made it pleasing for the eye, and were very well done! I never get bored to seeing some top-down pixel art games. What of course would've made it even a bit better, would've been that the character would'nt have flickered and the animations could've played a bit differently, but it was still very playable and looked good. And the UI didn't look really good, but the graphics of the actual game made up for it :)

Didn't ever really catch onto the gameplay, I just liked exploring the world and just picking up and buying objects without knowing what to actually to do with them ;D Could just be my stupidness, so if you wish you can explain to me how to progress in the game, and I would gladly try it again.

Either way it's a really nice entry and I hope to see you bringing more content!

mykola 2020-04-22 19:39

Very impressive amount of work! The game reminds me a lot fo Stardev Valley, I think you got the mood right. Art and sounds are great, very atmospheric, the gameplay is good and I really appreciate all the hints and tutorials. It took me some time to realize that I need planters to plant seeds. And even then, it seemed like the money / pricing system is a bit unbalanced. Seeds cost 1 coin, so I've bougth 20 right away, but planters are so expensive that I could buy only 2 and it took forever to grow those tomatos. Since they cost only 5 coins it takes quite a lot of time to save for new planters so you need to play for a long time to develop a solid greenhouse base. That being said, I think you've done a tremendous job and you have an awesome base for a farmer game that you can now polish and add new features to. Good luck with it!

tw00 2020-04-23 04:06

How can I get water? Couldn't figure it out... :frowning: other then that the game looks really impressive.

magus77 2020-04-23 13:48

@tw00 The wateringcan is a ludum magic one. I didnt have time to make a water refill script for it, the wateringcan has an infinite watersupply ;)the can itself can be found spawned in the gameworld

xdsilentstorm 2020-04-23 14:11

Big stardew valley vibes and I'm loving it. This game is so fun and so cool. You should definitely continue this, this game has great potential!

tw00 2020-04-23 16:09

@magus77 Ohhh now I got it. When I went into the greenhouse and walked to the planer it said "Press E to user watercan". I though I'm supposed to use the watercan and it didn't work because I don't have water. Now I realized it was just an hint and I have to plant the seed first.

magus77 2020-04-23 22:40

@tw00 yes the can will say that even when there is no plant. It will water thr empty planter amd waste energy doing nothing to popgress ;)

fables 2020-05-01 13:00

Incredible the level of artwork you have in a jam, and obviously as other people said it has a lot of Stardew vibes in a good way.

Very well done to the whole team :)

ogma 2020-05-04 08:25

Great work there! :)

Pretty impressive for 72h. The art is really great, especially the well detailed backgrounds (and the cute dog :p). I wanted to look at everything and tried to interact with basically any background element (I was a bit disappointed with the oven because of the newspaper). ^^ The soundtrack is good as well, it puts you into the mood . SFX are good, I just found the step sound a bit too lengthy / loud.

Anyway, great job! It's a nice "little" zen game.
