Back in the day when I played Mario 3 battle mode a lot, one of my favorite mechanics was the berzerk mode. We used to just intentionally berzerk everything and then start playing just because it made things more hectic. I loved how you added that additional mechanic to the SCB formula, it made me think a bit harder as I played. I liked the variety of enemies in general but wish they could somehow attacked me from different angles or timings. If you play it safe, you can usually tackle any scenario because of the strength of the shield. Perhaps a shield resource could add to the decision making and force the player to implement dodging or positioning to their playbook.

Needless to say, @tay-elenberg does incredible art and is one of the reasons I always check out your games. Very polished game overall, well done.

Really nice visuals and overall a cool experience! I enjoyed it and played it for a while :) If I would work on things further, it would be the camera movement (make it drag behind the player and smooth it out) and improve the level design - I was basically standing below one platform all the time and waiting for the enemies to run into my shield or my equipped attack. Or as PeachTree said, balance the shield. Giving the player multiple lifes would make it more beginnner-friendly

The animation is amazing and I like the background tiles. I really appreciate that you have an ingame tutorial. The sound effects could have more variation though, maybe you could randomize the pitch. And I don't feel like I'm sacrificing anything, if I didn't read your story I wouldn't know how you implemented the theme :P

Absolutely stunning art and animation. I liked the gameplay loop and the interesting way in which you acquire your attacks. I'm not sold on the theme implementation, but the game is overall very well polished.

The idea of stealing moves from the ennemies is really nice. Art and music are good too and they are coherent. One super nice thing to have done is to have made a quick tutorial. It was efficient and got me into the game without any frustration :)

The think that I most like is the game art and the character designs. Making several enemies and a good player really helps. Also the fact that you don't start from the beggining when you die is helpful. The theme of sacrificing isn't as accomplished as other games in the jam, though you sacrifice your ability.

For some kind of feedback, maybe not allowing the player to always use the shield and have some lives would have ended in a more interesting gameplay.

The graphics where really good, especially the menus and story where really nice. The game was a cool concept but in the end is was most effective just to stand with a shield so if you were to take it further I would work on the level design and balancing in the game. Overall it was one of the best looking games I've played so far and it would be cool to see it expanded and taken further.

wow what a blast of a game, my first all 5! the art is unbelivable for a 72 hours endeavour, you make me push myself harder on the next ludum dare!

The menu/sequence art was amazing and I really loved the whole mechanic of the enemies getting stronger when they come back around. The sound/music also worked very well and the game as a whole felt very polished.
