Cool little game you got here!
Cute graphics, nice intro music, funny sfx - wiseguys eh!
Flying mechanic is really cool. Also i liked mercyful mech of reducing speed after bumping into objects without gameover. Ganster melody is pleasant too. Minor thing is dizzy high speed about 700 units. Maybe late game don't need be so physically fast but only look fast. Smoothing background and reducing it details for low frequency may help : :)
Funny voice lines, just wished there were some more variation! There were some feedback missing for pickups and damage and so on. Would have been a nice addition. Cute graphics and nice parallax effect. Would have liked some more content and variation. Maybe something dangerous in the air so I had to adjust my jumps and glides a little bit more. But well done for a game jam game!
@tannimun thanks for the review, yeh even I though the feedback for shield pickup was missing, but as the deadline came close there wasn't anything we could do, but I did add a small shield icon in the UI for that
as for damage, I though the soundfx would suffice so I didn't do anything, should have put the red flash for damage feedback
About graphics and parallax, that was awesome work of Gigahood and Iria, amazing artists
for the content, originally we planned for 3 levels (land, water space), but wasn't able to make them as we opt to polish the first level instead so there wasn't any time left.
dangerous things in air was going to be in the upcoming lvls which we didn't get the time to make
@sergem thanks for the review, yeh it did got dizzy after 700 units, but we didn't realize that 'cuz of developers bias
@scowsh wiseguys eh!
thanks for the review
"EH wise guy aye" "EH WISE GUY EHH" The voice acting is great, and I had a pretty good time playing it. I think there should be a check to stop the grunts talking over each other, and I noticed a bit of shaking in the main character at high speed. Other then that it's a great experience.
@planetgames thanks for the review
are you the official planet games?
nice game, but at the end you ran in space
@thedouche yeh thats what the game is about, we ran out of space and time
thanks for the review
.
you ran out of time
@oats thanks for the review, yeh we were going to add cut scenes, but the time limit didn't let us,
About the shaking of main character, that is to be expected, when a guy is running so fast (jokes apart, we did notice it while play testing but we opted to keep it in and call it a feature, lol)
Nice runner game ! I like the humor in the sentences. Musics in the menu are great and I also enjoy the parallax background.
At high speed, the game becomes a bit painful for the eyes and it's not like you can really control anything :sweat_smile:
Also I have the feeling that half of the screen is not used at all. Would be great to have some flying obstacles and even a lifebar or something to set a Game Over condition, because here you can't really lose, right ? :slight_smile:
@yami-no-tenshi-8 thanks for the review, there is a death mechanics in the game, but as it is just the first level its not apparent, you die when you go below a certain speed limit, for the first level the speed limit is zero
originally we planed to make more levels but we didn't get the time to do so
and as for high speed, its easy if you play with strategy its unlike other infinite runners where you can just dodge when an obstacle comes, in this you will have to come up with a good strategy to win.
This is more fun than I anticipated. I enjoyed trying to gain speed and minimize hitting things that would slow me down. I kind of wish there were numbers popping off from the pickups and objects because I couldn't quite figure out how much things slowed me down or sped me up, so I couldn't make tactical decision (i.e. take the minor speed reduction to get a bigger speed boost after, etc). There's room for improvement in that department, which I would've preferred over trying to get more levels.
The graphics are basic but functional, and have at least two of my pet peeves: * Grey washing - not that much, as only the road and pavement is that grey, but it irks me because you did well in having more colourful backdrops outside of the road. * Scaling assets using values with decimals - it distorts sprites by sometimes making an element 1 pixel wide, sometimes 2 pixels (or more, depending on how much bigger you make things).
I also noticed some of the buildings have a little gap between them. What I do appreciate in the graphics is the clear colour differences between upgrades and objects. The audio is quite good. Nice use of atmospheric city sounds, good footsteps, fun voiceovers, etc.
All in all, without that much gameplay to the game, I was still entertained for quite some time. It's a fun, charming entry.
I really liked the game it was fun and humorous. However I wish I could control my decent and make it faster. I found myself missing a lot of pickup because I would jump clear over them. This kept me stuck under 900 points as I could never pickup more pickups without hitting obstacles.
Great art style and sound. Good job. I like the mechanics as well. Keep it up!
Please do check my game maybe you’ll like it and leave some feedback.
@tinykidtoo u can hold space to control your decend
I loved the art style, and the music. I noticed at a certain point where it looks like the game just keeps going even without touching the controls. I expected the bullets to kill me and everything else to slow me down, but they seem to act like any other obstacle. I took my hands off the keyboard and kept getting speed up powers so the game played by itself for several minutes before i was too slow to continue and the level reset.
Overall, I think this worked well. However, I did experience some jittery movement with the player, which got accentuated at greater speeds. Also, as others have said, at high speeds I couldn't really focus on what was going on, and actually got a bit of a headache!
