Really cute art

yukey0 2018-08-12 20:57

@leave Thanks appreciate the though :)

sdrrv 2018-08-12 21:26

Loved the art style! I think that the game play should have more work though

yukey0 2018-08-12 21:54

@sdrrv We will be sure to do that at a later date when the programmer Nurf is back from his camping trip (lol), and thanks, happy to hear that you liked the art style. I'm still learning, so hope to get better (b^-^)b

ghen 2018-08-12 23:01

i love the hand-drawn aesthetic that you after, but it'll be more awesome if the background also hand-drawn or at least some kind of colored paper, other than that the gameplay OK but lack of variation, well done !

justinsix 2018-08-12 23:18

I hope you expand on this and make the game you describe as your original vision in the description! It sounds awesome and I'd love to play it. As for what's their right now, the art's awesome, otherwise wasn't a big fan.

bovandenberg 2018-08-12 23:21

cool art style. Keep up the good work

soyertek 2018-08-12 23:37

I have to agree with everyone in saying that the art is really good, a good improvement to the game could be adding a stronger feedback when the player takes damage.

chaitae 2018-08-12 23:53

Riding segways is thirsty work.

sixbeeps 2018-08-13 01:15

Art and music were good, but gameplay takes a bit to get interesting. Even then, it isn't very fun. A little variation would have spiced this game up by tons.

serious07 2018-08-13 03:20

Art and music are good. Gameplay a bit boring but I'm think the main time was spend on art.

rngsilvercraft 2018-08-13 05:25

The hand-drawn art style is pretty unique! Also the musics too. Gotta love the segways.

neuralcoder 2018-08-13 06:09

Cute art, but it seems that you can go out of Frame. Are the Images drawn and then scanned?

yukey0 2018-08-13 12:44

@ghen Nice that you liked the art, and had not tough about making an background, but gonna talk it over with Nurf later, thanks for the tip ;)

@justinsix we definitively will, Nurf also said that he really wanted to finish this up :) and understandable, this needs work.

@bovandenberg Thanks dude, warms my heart to know!

@soyertek Thanks for the feedback, I thought the same when trying it out. I will tell Nurf about it he does not come and take a look for himself first.

@chaitae lol, sure is (*´艸`*)

@sixbeeps Appreciate the tought. Will make Nurf look over the comment section to see what we need to improve, hope to fix up the jam entry also, but need to talk it over with him.

@serious07 As the artist what I used most of the time on was the art, including a lot that did not make it into the game. I think Nurf used most of the time on the script and engine. Hope to make it more interesting :)

@rngsilvercraft Had never tough of my drawing style as unique but nice to know that some think so (^-^)

@neuralcoder yeah, the art was drawn by hand then scanned, but we did not have time to fix the art properly before the programmer had to leave. Having a hard time moving over from hand to digital, so for now I'm doing all work by hand and trying to get better in that field before moving on to digital. And thanks happy to know that the art is cute, will make more cutesy characters later, including the heroine, Cynthia :)

And everyone thanks for trying out. Aware that this needs lots of work to turn out as we originally intend to make it, and appreciate the constructive criticism and every one being honest and cool about it ^^ There was lots of art I made that did not make it into the game, and script as well that is not used yet so I decided to share some of it and the overall content and story we originally intended to go for, in a post. Feel free to take a look if you want. I leave a link for those interested :)

I love the _art brut_ style of this game, it creates a powerful mood and it put me in a different state of mind. As for moving from hand to digital, the latter has its advantages but then again there is something more authentic about hand-drawn art, as this game makes evident. I look forward to seeing more games with Cynthia in the future.

limered 2018-08-13 23:33

Your music creates a nice mood and your artstyle is really cute.

moonlightbomber 2018-08-14 08:48

I love the hand-drawn graphics, but I'd advise that you refine them because I can see black borders around them. Otherwise, good game.

bungalow 2018-08-15 21:40

The art is nice and the controls are pretty good

prodigalson 2018-08-18 04:31

To try to build an RPG of any scale with any degree of skills in a game jam is super ambitious so it does not surprise me ya'll had to settle for an idea that would be used on the game later down that line. That was a smart choice and often not many know when to say "this is not working, let's stop, re-think, and try something else" so well done on that.

My main feedback is that, from the description, I thought I would strolling down a path and as I moved forward the road would become more cluttered rather than randomly things popping in/out. Perhaps that something to explore like I am being taken on a journey collecting these orbs and as I get closer and closer to the destination the road gets more cluttered making it hard for me to progress. A metaphor for how often in life the closer to a goal you are the more pressure one feels as if being squeezed into a tiny space? ;)

alexfalkenberg 2018-09-03 01:15

Really enjoyed the concept and the art and music. Controls are good. I like @prodigalson's feedback as well.

Hope you've had a great LD!

rik-thunder 2018-09-03 08:26

I like the art (artist was a girl, right? : D), aside from the little artefacts of Zero. especially his front. I like that Zero was riding a segway xD very smooth.

I would definitely add edges to the map so one can't just walk (or ride) out. also I'd include either an objection in order to end the game or a timer. Else it goes on for ever. I would say the art but especially the music carries the game. ...man that music caught my heart. Very surprising for royalty free. Endd up playing longer just to listen to it.

ventura 2018-09-03 15:05

I liked the art a lot, how did you do it? It seems like it was drawn in paper.
