The plag is a really cool looking effect and I found myself playing it over and over to try and find the right path. The wait time between levels is way too long though since you return to the start when you are caught. Once you have the levels mastered its basically just like having an unnecessarily long loading time to get back to where you were. Despite this the game was simple yet fun and I would like to play more but kept dying.

Please add a Linux/MacOs/Web build. Can't play it...
For exposure on your game you want to start rating other peoples games ASAP, aim for 50 ratings given if you can. Heads up though we are approaching the final rating week and last time the Smart sort order was swapped out for Danger as the default during that time.
I recommend adding a web build. People like myself don't want to risk running native code from a bunch of strangers. Even assuming no one in the community would make something malicious there is still the potential of a virus infection on their machine. Web builds also have the benefits of being cross platform, and convenient.
You're actually in a good position to port your game to the web because you use C++/SDL. As long as you are using SDL or OpenGL to do your rendering. Take a look at http://emscripten.org/ to find out how. You are allowed to add additional platforms after the jam phase. Let me know if you do and I will be happy to play and rate your game.
I really liked the art style and the gameplay was good. My only complaint is that the thing you control only moves half of the grid space, so rip OCD. Nevertheless a great game!
Since you shamelessly self-promoted I will too: Go check out my game as well! Thankyou
This is a really neat game! It really captures the stress of attempting to collect things before you run out of space and it definitely kept me coming back for more. The plag effect that was eating up the level was really neat too, so I thoroughly enjoyed this. Keep making more and I'll see you in the next jam :)
I like the idea and creativity. Awesome job.

Nice game! I wished there was some sound effects or music though. The growing "Plag" is really cool, espacially as on the second try it behave wierdly and seemed to predict my movement (which I guess is just randomness but it would have been really cool). Well done!

This was a pretty cool idea, and I liked the art style. There were a few things I think you could definitely improve on: Having to go all the way back to level 0 after failing a level just seemed to make things more frustrating and tedious. The game also seemed to run very slowly, but maybe that was intentional. And I think this game could definitely use music, but obviously if you don't have the time or manpower, you do what you can without it.

@dominic Yeah, game flow can be slow (more plag on map -> more calculations -> slower speed). On strong PC setups (like ours) there are no problems with speed. Also I think big possibilites to optimize plag spread algo exist, but we had no time to do it.
Yeah, the long wait between levels (or death in my case) was a bit too much.

@cristi-mihai Yeah, you re right. I already implemented level intro skipping by pressing Enter/Space, but I dont know how to update link to game.
i played this game yesterday and forgot to add a comment and i was going to say that having a skip button for those "level x" screens would be nice but seems that you already added one so... :)
Nice idea for a game, and i love the looks of it.
The controls could be a bit more smooth, and perhaps give the player a little bit of thinking time at the beginning of a level so they don't have to die, restart the entire game, and reach the same place before they can actually give a level a proper try.
Otherwise, very nice game. Good job!
Pretty game! The darkness crawling effect was very nice. I thought it also was a bit clunky to play though, which made the game's objective feel a bit artificially hard. Good job on the intro and the nice finish with a functioning menu with an about section, tiny details are important!
Great game! Very cool and interesting! :D

I really liked the visual effects in that game! Loved the fact that you implemented them not only in the game, but also in transitions. Really tied the whole thing together. I'd have loved to restart a level after getting caught, I got tired of seeing the first two levels quickly. Otherwise, nice. :)

There you go, rating #20. :smirk: Good job on your game. I feel the main issue with the game are the long restart times, they kept me from playing very far to be honest, as it quickly became tedious. I do like the mechanic a lot, though. It has great potential.

@psychead Thank you banana) Btw i played/rated your game on the first voting day. See you on LD43 :owl:
I find it unsettling that I cannot close the game using alt+f4. I also encountered a black screen after level 5 or so, which turned into the game over screen when I alt-tabbed back in. I enjoy the concept quite a bit; even without sound, it feels absolutely sinister, and I like that. Otherwise, the things I have to say about the game have already been said.
Despite being quite minimalistic, the plag spreading effect was cool, as the visuals overall. Some folks already pointed out that the intermission between levels could be a little shorter, but other than that - great job!
