I've got mixed feelings. On the one hand, it's amazing idea. You've made two different mechanics work together. On the other hand, the game isn't very exciting. For example I like how levels utilize different approaches, but at the same time they're a bit too "proof of concept".

Good game man , good art for Jam !! 5/5!!

rillep 2018-04-24 20:47

Really nice concept! I would have loved to see a level where you had to break certain bricks to win, so that you actually have to care where the balls go. Now you could just run and hope for the best.

devbayer 2018-04-24 20:49

Funny! pretty dynamic and good logic together the idea with bouncing!

brendan-toy 2018-04-24 22:38

i really enjoyed this :) with a little more work it could really be something! adding more puzzles in, loved the way i could use the paddle as a platform too :) very well done, and all the while soothing with a nice choice of music :) great job mate.

egawag 2018-04-24 22:45

This is the most original game I have seen yet. 5/5 innovation 4.5/5 fun!

zyuxis 2018-04-24 22:54

@egawag wow, thank you for such a high opinion, I am glad you liked the idea as much as I did! @brendan-toy I appreciate the comment, I accidently left audio closed so I missed some rating, I am glad you liked the loop. As with any jam I wish I had some more time for levels, but especially this go around.

interesting game, a classic breaker with a platformer. I did something similar but mine was with tetris blocks. game played pretty smooth, good choice on sound and music. All in all not bad, not great but certainly not bad.

corc0 2018-04-24 23:02

Hey! Played this through to the end. It's a good game and a tough combination to pull off. At first I thought it was pretty difficult, but then I realized that you could get through most levels just by running as fast as you can without worrying much for the platforms.

By the way, there's a little bug on the level with the three stationary balls. If the top of the player hits the bottom of the ball, you'll have to restart. (Including the restart button makes this a non-issue as far as playability goes - thanks for including that!)

zyuxis 2018-04-24 23:12

@corc0 It's true! There is quiet a lot of ways to cheese through half the levels, and the bottom collision bug was unfortunate. I am glad you still played through it all, I appreciate it!

fidrik 2018-04-24 23:33

A fun simple game which fits the theme 200% liked the way it taught you certain mechanics. would have been cool to see more levels with the bouncy dots!

rainysolar 2018-04-25 05:46

Great Combination. I want to play more levels!

zyuxis 2018-04-25 06:13

@rainysolar Thank you for playing glad you enjoyed the levels! I definitely ran out of time on levels way faster than I would have liked, after getting home from work on the last day I had only an hour and a half to do them. I may just have to make more and release a post jam/bugfix version for fun ^_^. @fidrik Thank you for playing as well! I loved your jam game. I am a believer in the 'learn as you play' side of introducing things, and want to utilize that whenever I can!

ccglp 2018-04-25 07:43

Wow, I really enjoy this. Arkanoid and platformer works well together. Maybe some of the levels were too easy? At first I thought that if you fail with the ball or with the little fella you lose, but is very fail-tolerant. I would like to see this made in a full-fledged game :)

blakemcdeezy 2018-04-25 07:54

Very clever! Really cool take on the theme, and you did so much with so little time - congrats!

zyuxis 2018-04-25 08:06

@ccglp @BlakeMcDeezy Thank you both for trying the game out, I will check out yours! It's true, failing with the ball can even be exploited for an easier time on a few levels. I enjoyed the jam quite a bit for what I could do and appreciate the plays!

ethereal-psyche-games 2018-04-25 14:52

I really loved this! Combining these two genres was a cool idea. It was funny trying to coordinate the jump with the arkanoid. Great job :)

spenn 2018-04-26 23:28

This was a very creative concept. Good work!

juzley 2018-04-26 23:37

This is a really cool concept, I'd love to see it taken further!

zyuxis 2018-04-26 23:39

@Ethereal-Psyche-Games @spenn @Juzley Thank you all for playing! I'll check each of your games soon, I appreciate the response.

jonathan-daar 2018-04-27 04:26

I beat it! I thought this was one matchup that would not work together, but you guys made a bunch of fun levels and made it work!

zyuxis 2018-04-27 06:21

@Jonathan-Daar Thank you for playing every level, even though it was just 7 levels that means a lot to me! I enjoyed making it while I could and appreciate the comment.

annie-owl 2018-04-27 18:17

Nice mashup. Really calming background music, sets the mood just right for this game. I think the punishment for losing the ball could have been something more crucial (like losing a life, or resetting a level), but i understand that this could make the game too hard.

zyuxis 2018-04-27 20:21

@Annie-Owl I think you are right, the punishment for losing the ball on the programming end is that it destroys 1 to 3 of the closest platforms to the player. I thought this sounded great before I got into levels on the last day, but realized in some cases it could be exploited. Some levels however, it outright ruins you, overall I wouldn't mind making a longer and harder game at some point, thank you for the feedback. :]

radow 2018-04-29 21:20

I really liked this entry. There are a lot of entries where you basically have to play two games at the same time, but usually the controls are awkward and the games don't influence each other too much. Not here thought: their interaction is fun and the level where you have to jump on the floating balls made me realize that the controls are actually very accurate for such a game! If there were more levels I would totally play them too. The only suggestion I have is that the blocks that survive multiple hits in a few of the middle levels could be made weaker to make these levels a bit more involved.
