Decent game, I was a bit confused what to do at the beginning, also I was playing by myself. But the mechanics are interesting and it's executed pretty nicely. Great job!

Interesting mechanic, I played for a long time however I just can't score against myself
update: I scored.
Interesting take on soccer! I wish I could've played with someone, but this definitely looked promising. It does get a bit repetitive and simple, so maybe having different type of shoots or actions may improve the game further!
@Thy-Duck Yeah, we realized that it could be a bit confusing so now we added a 'How to Play' so everyone can learn it. Thanks for playing it!
@Teapoly Thanks! Glad you had fun and could beat yourself!
@Jeffrey-Hwang Thanks for your comment. We'll definately think about implementing different moves
Newgrounds in 2018! What a surprise!
This is a good game, but it's not very user friendly. It took me a while to figure out how to play it, and even now, I have trouble predicting where the football will land.
The graphics are okay, but nothing special. Same with the music. It's a decent loop, but it's rather short and basic. It fits the game just fine.
Overall, I like this game, but it could definitely be improved a lot.
Strategy soccer <3 I've always wanted <3 Good job my friend
Really cool idea for gameplay. It took a few turns to figure it out, but the pictures in the instructions definitely helped. It would be nice if it showed you where the ball was going to land when you choose to kick so you could plan better. Other than that, good job!
Really cool game. I was always loved a bit of Subbuteo so this was perfect for me. Did take me a little while to work out when it would kick and when it would move, and maybe if you started with a few more players there'd be a bit more strategy to it. Other than that it's great, well done!
Nicely done! I've always liked the idea of some kind of a trpg/strategic approach to sports games, glad to see it fleshed out. The only thing I wished for was some form of an AI, even if it was really bad, since it'd still top testing it alone. But I realize how hard it'd be to make within a jam, of course. The art and sounds are simple yet clean, which's good to avoid distraction from the game's core - its game design. Good job and keep at it. :3
@WFMG Yeah, we like Newgrounds' community! Thank you for your feedback
@matsoj15 Thanks! Glad you had fun!
@MugenMagnus We decided to make a little surprise about where the ball will land. Thank you for your feedback
@fazz I looked up about Subbuteo and it seems fun! Thanks, we appreciate your feedback! We'll think about it when improving the game
@gil4 We also wanted to do an AI but the time was too short. That's another reason why we decided to make it multiplayer. But it is something we want to implement in the future. Thank you so much for your feedback!
Some great ideas in here, and while I don't necessarily think these genres are in any way incompatible, they surely aren't very common together (but then again, this is the case with most games, mine included.. true incompatibility would probably not yield great results :D). I was a bit confused at first, as I didn't know player and ball could (and had to) be on the same tile to kick, and expected standing right next to it to be enough. The randomness in kicking is probably a good idea, yet I was really confused when kicking from a close distance at the empty goal didn't work out, and thought there was some rule preventing me from scoring a goal in that situation.
If you keep working on it, an AI (even if just a very simple one) would be great. :)
Nice entry, definitely true to the theme.
I liked that bother players had to make their moves and only then the situation would be resolved. However, I think it might have been even more interesting if the other player's moves wouldn't be displayed so that both players could attempt the same moves and there would be some sort of random resolution maybe.
This would probably prove difficult though in local multiplayer, given that the other player would have to turn around anytime you make a move.
One piece of advice from me would be to make a splash screen explaining the controls if they aren't intuitive enough or to highlight the usable game elements (as you did when a player was selected with the floor tiles he could go on).
I think if this would have been simply expanded to a pulsating circle or square around selectable players, it would have mitigated a lot of the confusion I had since it took me a couple of minutes to figure out how to control the game.
All in all, interesting and thought inspiring entry. Keep it up!
Simple graphics but very nice idea! Good work!
I appreciate the idea. It is a nice game, but imho the field is too big and it is really hard to even move somewhere. If you made the field smaller, it sure would be a lot of fun. Idea great, mechanics great, graphics good enough, just the scale doesn't make it as good as it might have been.
I'm not sure if you were able to see it, but I played your game on my stream at https://www.twitch.tv/saoigames tonight.
The game was not very intuitive to play. I wasn't sure how to shoot the ball and even when I had control of the ball I wanted to move, but instead it kicked past where I expected. I really disliked taking two turns back-to-back even though you were trying to give advantage to respond to your opponent, it rarely worked out. How the players moved still does not completely make sense. I tried to move a player to receive the ball, but the ball flew past them in one spot and passed to a player on the opposite team on another occasion. Making it turn-based broke the flow of the game. I wish that I had more players on the board to begin with or could only move 1 player at a time. I think it would have worked better if it was player 1, then player 2, then player 1 again. The delay in the action taking place was not necessary because the person moving second did not have time to react or put themselves in the place where they want to be, so often moving second in a turn just made you feel frustrated.
I want to thank you for making a local multiplayer game. I hope that you continue to balance it in your post-jam version.
@shellfish-games Yeah, I agree that the genres should have some compatibility so the game can be fun. The AI is definitely something we will work on when improving the game. Thank you for your feedback, we really appreciated it
@lexi Thank you for playing our game. We appreciate your suggestions about the game feedbacks and the other tips. It will really help us in the future.
@mic-matrix91 Thank you!
@iluvatar Nice suggestions, we'll work on it in the future. Thank you, hope you had some fun!
@saoi-games We need more local multiplayer games, in my opinion, I'm glad you think the same. Thank you for playing our game at your stream, I watched it before responding you. We really appreciate your feedback and will think about it when improving the game.
As I was playing I kept thinking about how this would make a good board game. Chess/checkers with a soccer ball - I could see playing that with some friends while eating pizza around a table. As a video game, it also works well. My biggest comment is the 1-2-2-1 movement order, which felt confusing, but I can see why it might be better for balance.
Hey!Very good work! This would be amazing (at least for me ) if the movement, the flow of the game where smooth!Anyway amazing!
Here is our game if you want to test it! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/me-da-miedito-la-oscuridad-i-get-goosebumps-in-the-dark
Hey, we had similar ideas and I really liked your take on it, both in the style of the execution and the decision to have the turns play out the way they do. Awesome job!
@budaniel Wow, that's a nice idea! Thank you so much for playing our game and your feedback!
@littlestone-games Thank you for your feedback! It is something we'll probably work on in the future.
@goffmog That's awesome, the bulls are so cute! Thank you for your feedback, it means a lot to us!
