this is simple but fun! it reminds me of captain n (the cartoon) where he played the big tetris game. It would be better if you can choose the level / speed to start with.

Had to zoom out (~90%) to fit on the screen. I got it part way figured out but couldn't get the blocks rotated. Graphics were fun.

Had to zoom out a bit and couldn't figure out how to rotate the blocks. Maybe speed up the tempo a bit too?

blazedragon 2018-04-24 09:35

@jshaffer94247 and @croewens thank you for playing. Yeah when I designed it as 1000x1200 I was thinking of just a monitor and not in a browser. Wasn't sure how to resize everything :S to rotate the blocks hit the up arrow. this can be done at any time. If you rotate while on them though you might die a glitch I have yet to work out.

@MartinTristan hey thanks for playing! yes I really do need to tweek this for settings. With limited time though I was still trying to figure out row destruction if you complete a row. I still dont' have that work yet.

Graphics are really great!

I like the idea and looks of it. It's addictive enough to keep you playing for more than a few tries. There seem to be some bugs thought: * you can get stuck in a 1-space location. The audios go crazy but you have to restart yourself. * when you move a part right when landing you will move the next part without standing on it. * when landing sometimes an additional space is taken somehow?

A also feel that the physics could be tweaked to be less low-gravy. Especially in the beginning when you dont have a big pile of pieces on one side (that is how you play tetris, right?) you dont have much time to land on and navigate the pieces - it is then a tad frustrating to shortjump and fall almost as slow as the piece itself, robbing you time of additional jump-tries. All that aside it is a fun game, it looks and feels incredibly clean in spite of the bugs and it is one of the first I have seen that truly went with the theme!

@radow thank you for the feedback, yes...sadly I ran into all these bugs and spent a few hours trying to come up with solutions. I am very green...I ended up opting for animations and stuff I knew I could do :)

theslate 2018-04-24 23:02

Great! The jumping is a little too floaty though. Good job!

blazedragon 2018-04-25 10:01

@radow thanks, I released a bug fix so you can no longer get stuck inside the blocks. sometimes while falling and rotating you may but the sound will tick instead of going nuts.

radow 2018-04-25 12:36

@BlazeDragon looks good, I wasn't able to reproduce the bug in the newer version =)

blazedragon 2018-04-26 21:01

@theslate patched the jump issue

nikolaj 2018-04-28 05:25

this is fantastic. I think so far my favorite mashup, and a really challenging game!

Also, thank you for making a web game. On a mac, it is sad i have to pass over so many games since they aren't available for mac.

I'm not sure I like the mechanic of requiring the player to stand on the blocks to move them -- it really makes it difficult to have any control over the blocks at all, especially when trying to e.g. rotate them. Perhaps it simply needs some tweaking -- currently, the main issue with the mechanic is that it's simply really difficult, as a player, to pull off.

Additionally, I encountered problems with the controls: - W should be supported for jumping, so I'm not switching between arrows and (Space)ASD. - There's no way to control the character jump height, which makes landing on a piece in time to be able to control it pretty difficult.

arche-san 2018-04-28 12:57

Like the idea and the concept. Simple but very effective. Perhaps you can stop blocks moving while player is on it. It can improve the control feelings. Good job anyway! :)

@nikolaj thank you, i'm glad you liked it. I too dislike downloading games, can try more if you quickly open up a browser. Also as you mention cross platform :)

dp3rucha 2018-04-30 08:42

Once of the bests mixes of genres I've seen. It needs some polish as you can die while rotating a piece when you are on top of it, or get stucked in small holes.

A good concept to keep working on it.

mektidas 2018-05-02 02:39

very good work, really enjoyable, are you updating it?

hilvon 2018-05-02 20:19

An... unorthodoxal take on the tetris idea, but IMO this only adds some unneccesary complication to an already not the easiest game.

Also I'm not sure if that was intended, but I was able to rotate the pieces without having a character on them, but at the same time rotating wit character standing on a piese resulted in gameover.

And it looks like you can move through the placed blocs horizontally...

cristiano-m-garcia 2018-05-07 03:26

Good job! Cool game!

I left my rating of your game, if you can leave your feedback in our game, Witch's Escape.

I hope you continue with the project.
