nice game best part of it is definitely art and I liked title as well I reminds me something lol

monsieurduc 2016-12-11 18:58

I dont know how blow this box :S

siryakko 2016-12-11 19:00

@MonsieurDuc "The Space Bar is to destroy Boxes while you're against them." So you just go to a box and use the SPACE. If you find a bug let me know in which level :)

@TheBekka Thanks for the art, hope the mechanics are good too :)

artsicle 2016-12-11 21:06

I cant play without an ad, so I decided not to play at all.

siryakko 2016-12-11 21:34

I remove the ads, i thought it was off at first. Sorry about that

jcmonkey 2016-12-12 07:45

The game was interesting, the controls caught me up a bit.

soerenbachnielsen 2016-12-12 07:54

Pretty cool game. Liked the simple graphics. The controls were a little off though, sometimes. And Some times i couldn't blow up boxes to find the bomb. But overall concept, cool!

siryakko 2016-12-12 07:58

I'll maybe do some improv on the controls later, the RC CAR kinda control can be tough. :)

powerspark 2016-12-12 07:59

It would be nice for smoother controls, but I guess it makes sense with the bomb robot premise. Keep it up!

siryakko 2016-12-12 08:43

That's exactly the feeling i wanted to give, maybe not the best for everyone though :D

insality 2016-12-12 11:05

Pretty good game, the controls of the player is good, accelerations feels nice, but when you trying to change direction it is hell! :)

you should insert controls inside the game ;)

good job, you have done LD37!:)

siryakko 2016-12-12 11:12

Thanks for the comment, i'll try different setting for the steering speed. I've also noticed that the robot don't really break quickly

irioder 2016-12-12 18:03

Love the mechanics! good job

piwicode 2016-12-12 18:51

Robot inertia and the fact that it has a minimum turning angle makes the player plan a
path which is nice!

Searching the bomb inside crates could have be frustrating, but I have been lucky and it's fun to
discover the santa-bomb.

Maybe the sound of the robot could benefit from a high shelving filer (-6db), to reduce the high frequencies and make it smoother. The music is a nice contribution to the ambiance.

I had a few glitches when the robot is tangential to a cloud, and I had hard time destroying a box
when in contact with the corner.

Connection with the theme is subtle, but overall the experience is nice, and that is what matters the most. Thanks for making this game!

siryakko 2016-12-12 18:57

Thanks for that long and complete commentary, i was not sure about the sound of the robot but yeah i'll try to make the change in the next update. Same for the collision boxes i'll figure a way to make it work better. And it wasn't a cloud but a pile of snow so it blocks your path.

dlweatherhead 2016-12-12 19:05

Very nice take on the theme, initially one minute feels like plenty, but quickly runs down. However, I do feel the challenge is due to the controls and not so much mastery of the game.
Also, when I destroyed some boxes and without realising I picked up the bomb, it took a moment to figure out if I actually had it.

siryakko 2016-12-12 19:19

I'm working on adding more visual hint, better control (already have a version of that but cannot upload it right now and right here) i'm listening to hall your comments and advice to make it a better game. (here is a link on itch.io with an updated version outside the compo - https://siryakko.itch.io/one-room-one-bomb-one-minute)

aldarion 2016-12-13 13:12

Nice idea and fun game.
As other people said the controls do not feel very good. What about making the turning slow at first and faster the longer you turn? That would help me steer more precisely.
I enjoyed playing this game :)

siryakko 2016-12-13 13:36

Thanks for the comment :) i've made some fine tuning on the itch.io version of the game as i don't want to cheat on my compo right here :D

xclementx 2016-12-13 14:17

Great game ! Pretty addicting !

shnitzhell 2016-12-13 23:41

NICE WORK!

siryakko 2016-12-14 09:41

Thanks @xclementx and @shnitzhell :D

nikitapash 2016-12-14 09:59

Nice controls

siryakko 2016-12-14 11:26

Thanks i'm finally really happy with them, that gave me an idea for another game that i'm working on at the moment :)

ahmedmohi 2016-12-15 06:11

nice work and great game always it wasn't clear how to destroy boxes :D

siryakko 2016-12-15 07:44

Thanks for you comment, to be honest at first i wanted the boxes to be moved just by pushing them, but the feeling wasn't right and it took too much time to do

nikitapash 2016-12-15 08:35

Cool graphics

nikitapash 2016-12-15 08:36

Nice graphics

maekeruu 2016-12-15 08:55

Great job with simulating a realistic physics on maneuvering!! That was pretty accurate... I had fun playing this as I panicked when I almost didn't make it haha

siryakko 2016-12-15 09:36

@Green Soda, happy that the feeling was right for you :D

buckle2000 2016-12-17 11:19

Inspiring BGM

thescragglyman 2016-12-17 12:28

Really liked the sound effects, the destroying crates could use some work as the collision detection was a bit picky. but a fun little game none the less

jacobturn 2016-12-17 15:28

this was a hard but fun game!

oddly-shaped-pixels 2016-12-19 14:13

The base idea is interesting and you've managed quite a lot in few time.
I guess you could iterate on the bombometer mechanic to make it a bit more interesting, like a radial scan pulse slowly reloading for example.

Cool entry anyway.

siryakko 2016-12-19 14:56

Thanks for you comment @Oddly Shaped Pixels. I've some idea i've to work on to make the game more interesting and using a lot more a better version of the bombometer. Maybe i'll create more complex levels (and go away from the "One room" theme)

jupiter_hadley 2016-12-20 21:47

Simple, well made game! I included it in my compilation video series of the Ludum Dare 37 games, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/_uiGr8frPv8

siryakko 2016-12-22 09:14

Thanks for the video, too bad it wasn't a quick review instead. Nice work for all these compilations

pietro-ferrantelli 2016-12-30 14:14

Nice compo entry. This is simple but efficient and well executed. I'm impressed by the amount of levels you managed to make. Aesthetics are pretty cool in general and contrary to some other comments, I didn't find controls that weird. Nice to see a C2 dev here !

siryakko 2016-12-31 11:13

Thanks for your comment and your rating on gamejolt. I really like creating and prototyping with C2, it was my first video games creation software i ever used.

yuigoto 2017-01-02 15:08

It's a pretty nice little game! Even though it's simple, it looks nice! :)

The soundtrack is really nice and relaxing, but the tank's running sfx kinda annoyed me. Maybe lowering the volume a bit?

I kinda discovered that you can get A's in all levels if you just hold down, you don't even have to get the bomb! Better check that! ;P

Cheers!

siryakko 2017-01-02 15:21

Thanks for the comment, especially for that bug that i did not notice :)

yamzho 2017-01-02 15:36

Controls can be a bit difficult to handle sometimes, but good job overall !

murilo 2017-01-02 16:16

ok game, I like the idea. But the controls were a bit frustrating, forward acceleration was too slow and getting stuck on boxes was slow/hard to get out of.
After I beat a few levels, the next room didn't have any bomb in it :(

roguenoodle 2017-01-02 23:07

Interesting idea! Though I struggled with the controls a bit (mostly when trying to break the boxes). I don't think I'd do well in a bomb squad...

siryakko 2017-01-03 07:48

@murilo you can use the bombometer on top right to detect the hidden dynamite under boxes. Use spacebar to destroy them.

@rogueNoodle Thank you for your comment. I'm still working on the controls and the game at the moment, it's a bit better than the first time, but still the acceleration is a bit too slow and the friction against obstacles are too high.
