The game is rather poorly programmed, the stuttery elevator is one. It probably has to do with using transform.position to move the elevator while having the player as a rigidbody above it. Not a good idea. The console command system is pretty nice. Interesting design. Hope you'll proceed to fix this later on.

Apart from the performance issues that I experienced this was a pretty decent game I especially enjoyed interacting with the terminals which reminded me of "The Talos Principle". The shooting controls could use more love but I guess that was not really the focus. All in all I had fun for a few minutes :)

Apart from some outstanding issues, such as killing yourself if you jump and shoot downwards, or holding reload and fire turning your revolver into a machine-gun, I liked the concept a lot.

If you do take this concept further, I would suggest keeping the focus more on the style of the "infiltration" level. The stealth and terminals mechanics is what makes the game interesting. The light giving away your position was a nice touch, and I would suggest adding a similar system with sound. The terminals were fun, but using them for the elevators were a tad repetitive, since you can't resend the same command as you would pressing the up arrow in command prompt.

Overall, it's a great concept that needs some more time in the oven.

Fun game but like the others said, with some issues. Obviously need to be better optimized. Graphics are good and mechanics are good. Music is a bit weird.

Pretty cool idea. The infiltration level was a lot more interesting than the brawl one, mind you. The terminal mechanic is a nice idea. I could see this be developed further into a really fun game with more elaborate level design, more complex AI (patrolling guards, etc.), and improving shooting and stealth mechanics.

I saw a couple bugs. Mainly the UI didn't display completely (it only had the visibility indicator) the first time I loaded level1 (after dying once it fixed itself). Also, one time I entered the correct password on the first computer and it didn't do anything. I was rather confused until I tried it again.

It could use some more polish with the elevators like someone said, and in the intro level and level1 you can fall outside the map and be stuck there. All in all though, cool effort for a game jam.

i have no idea what i needed todo and i fell out of the level. I love the computers tho

I really love the idea of hacking your way through levels like this as opposed to the regular "press X to hack" i just wish there was a little more of a guide on how to play right from the get go, cool entry!

Some prompts for input would be nice. I thought the game glitched out when I died. A little 'press R to respawn' message would have prevented some unnecessary Alt-F4s. I like the terminal-based hacking aspect a lot, even though I'm not very good at it.

Cool game, I liked the stealth aspect and using the terminals. I liked the guards' design with the hats falling off when they die :) The shooting controls were a little off and I couldn't figure out how to hack the terminals, but overall a good game.

On OS X the game doesn't show anything except grey screen but sounds work well.

kableado 2016-09-03 14:24

Fun Shooter, with "hacking" mechanics. I love the terminal interface and the graphics are spot on ... the audio not much.

It feels slow on my machine. I don't know about Unity performance tuning, but maybe there are too many sadow casters and lights with shadows.

Entering and exiting the CRTs is a little buggy on windowed mode, and some visual indicator would make it easier than the music.

Would love to see a bigger version.

The game is a bit hard to control. When you interact with the monitor it should show you the screen in case you were looking down at it. I also found that telling it to go up 1 or 5 was a bit strange instead of just up 1 level.

jupiter_hadley 2016-09-05 21:48

I couldnt quite figure it out. I included it in my compilation video series of Ludum Dare 36, if you’d like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/KIzapWNCI0E

kai20 2016-09-09 16:06

sorry the controls are awful and the long time before a level. I dint even mangaed to get to one. sorry

dreamlogician 2016-09-14 00:50

This game is THE BEST! Easily my favorite of all the entries I have played so far. Don't listen to anyone that tells you to change it - everything is perfect just the way it is. ^_^

oscar-reyes 2016-09-14 01:38

I don't know if its just me not typing the correct commands into the terminals but I could not use the elevator at all. I tried many different formats and could not get it to work. If I were to play the game in full screen the camera is upside down (maybe a unity bug).

robochris 2016-09-14 03:00

I dont know what was going on but explaining on how the elevator works would be nice. I tried typing a lot of thing in there like up or 1 and nothing worked. Its pretty confusing. The lighting of the game is weird. I know in some areas it is suppose to be dark but it doesnt look right to me.

invader 2016-09-15 13:01

On MacOS X it is too dark in the first room and terminals doesn't work - I just able to lock on it but nothing happens until I hit Esc.
On Linux 32bit I have error saying that libXcursor.so.1 is missing :(

cirrial 2016-09-19 17:41

Well, I liked the idea of the terminals, although it was almost impossibly dark to see (and I'm on Windows 10!) That bit was great. The music was a tad painful. I like the idea of changing music tracks while focused on a monitor but, uh, well, I know how difficult the compo is. I got shot on the fifth floor due to not realising the enemies actually posed a threat -- at the start of the level I stood next to one and nothing happened until I shot it.

Some neat ideas in this but overall it could use some improvement. Good luck next time!
