I like it...but then I love roguelikes :D
The combat is pretty useless though, everything kills you pretty easily, it's better to just run and save some of the "easy" coins you find to refill your health.

I really agree with Raptor, the combat isn't really sensefull... it just seems to be a unfinished game...

kane 2012-04-23 17:44

It's unfinished in the sense of I did not had enough time to make and add sound/music, but I agree the fights are a little to hard. I have calculate them to leave the player with only few hp at the end of the game if he manage fine the fight/collect part.
I am sorry if you don't like it :(
I will do better next time, I promise !

It doesn't work for me. The game run, but the controls don't answer. I think the problem is that I'm on a laptop, so I haven't any numpad. The numbers on the top of the keyboard don't work.

But even if it worked with the numbers on the top of the keyboard, this game would have been unplayble on a laptop, because without the numpad, the controls wouldn't make any sense and it would have been incredibly hard to play (not hard in a good way). Controls are very important in a game, and they should be thought for every kind of keyboard (which is hard, I know).

Anyway, I want to play this game, so I'll try later on my office computer :)

Sorry for this !
The fixed version link is now in the description of the entry.
I hope you will enjoy the game :)

A nice little game. Not perfect, but fun and difficult, i liked it.

netmute 2012-04-25 20:07

Can't rate because I'm using a Mac. Sorry :(

Actually a nice idea.
However some of the random arrangements make it impossible to stay alive.

toadd-y 2012-04-27 12:18

A lot of courage to go ahead in such a competition with C & SDL. The game itself is a bit hard and you can feel the lake of final arrangements but nice job anyway!

allusion 2012-04-29 20:35

Very difficult. Some actual combat choices would be nice. Not bad.

omarshehta 2012-05-03 17:21

The controls didn't work for me, neither the numbers nor any of the WASD or arrow keys, so I'm not going to rate it, but I saw the gameplay video so I can just review what I saw from there.

First I think it's pretty impressive that you got this all done in 17 hours of work and with C!

The game itself seems like it could be a pretty nice adventure game or a randomly generated arcade game. Perhaps as others have suggested, add some combat elements to include some skill in killing the rats.

As it stands though, I think there's a lot of room for additions. Maybe stuff like switches or perhaps ponds that you can't pass until you get a certain item etc.. etc..

A shame I can't play it on my mac. :C

andrew-2 2012-05-09 08:41

As mentioned, the combat could do with improving. There was also some issue with fighting in door frames.
