I really like the idea here, and I imagine with a little more time this could have been a nice entry. Something seems off with the collision detection, though. The bees just seem to swarm right through the boxes.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD23 → Space Bees Attack!

same issue, the bees seemed able to fly right through the barriers, didnt stop them at all.
I couldn't run it on Linux. I have pyglet installed, but I'm not too familiar with it. Here's the traceback I get: http://pastebin.com/chsExKdz
Let me know if you know how to fix it and I'll try again!
Oh, that's interesting. Looks like there's a bug report over here:
http://code.google.com/p/pyglet/issues/detail?id=456
There's a working patch, and I think it's fixed in the latest version of pyglet from its source repository. (I'm running the last release, which is a little silly since it's from 2010).
Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, I wish I had given myself time to work on the bad guys. I ended up rushing them because I needed at least some kind of conflict (however half-baked) if I wanted to call the result a game. Lesson learned: bad guys are tricky! The falling through barriers thing is likely because they die really easily. Once they collide with a barrier, they push it really hard and they die. (And when they die, they fall off the screen).
I think it might have been a nicer result if they were outside the physics simulation. That way I would have been able to control their movements more cleanly :)
A good prototype, but need more work, keep it up!
Cannot play on a mac. :C
I'm sorry, I can't play your game because I don't have Windows (OSX).
I really like the bizarrity of the concept, but the game itself was pretty much unplayable for me (on Windows 7). The game was lagging immensely and the collision detection of the bees seemed to make no sense at all.
Very creative concept, although the physics seem a bit buggy.
I also really liked the idea, a mixture of Tetris and Cover orange.
But the bees collision also seemed buggy for me, and no logic to what blocked them or their location.
I'm also on Windows 7.
I would play it, but I'm on an iMac.
Very slow and buggy on Windows :(
