OMG, at first I though you had to give him all the fish.
The ending depends on the quantity of fish given?

marudziik 2011-12-19 12:21

@AirRider3
Yes and no. 3 endings depend on the quantity of fish given to the human, and there are 2 special endings, for which you need to find a special item.

The game definitely fit the mood, but after the first few fish, got kind of repetitive, hopping up those same blocks multiple times.

Awwww :( Poor kitty

Really nice interpretation of the theme, a bit repetitive though. Nice audio and graphics otherwise.

That is one philosophical kitten! Climbing those blocks does begin to feel like work after the first 5 times or so. Liked the music and 2-colour visuals.

I like the mood and the music and how talkative the cat is without repeating itself. The controls make it hard to jump on those small platforms, also the blue color is hard too see when you play this during the day but overall it's a nice little game, congrats :)

Wow, that game had some great mood :) Thanks for mentioning it, it was interesting to see a different take on the same sort of "nobody wants kitty" concept :)

Touching :).

I love almost everything about this entry except the jumping controls. I wasted sooooo much of my time just trying to get up that first set of platforms while watching the poor kitty feel sad. I know it isn't impossible, but it felt that way at times given how twitchy everything felt. It made me feel quite helpless.

But the art style and the music combined were just cute beyond all reason. If you were to clean up the jumping a bit and rethink the level design it would be solid gold.

It was good, but I think the movement could use a bit of tuning. It took me so long to get up to that upper level, jumping up those little one tile blocks, that after failing my first return journey, I didn't really feel like trying to get up there again. There was only a couple of events left by that time anyways.

The music was simple, but really helped the mood. Tee simple art and use of colour was effective.

When you're at the edge of the screen some of the kittens thoughts are long enough to get cut off.

Thanks a lot for your feedback, everyone!

Regarding controls - it would seem that I tend to increase the difficulty of my games in terms of unfair controls. I guess testing the game myself, it's usually hard to figure the right amount of 'hard' - and with this game this wasn't necessary at all, as it was story-based and I didn't aim for difficult gameplay.
Since this was also the problem with my last entry, I promise I'm going to change stuff next time.

Boring level design was the effect of me not being able to learn DAME during the compo. There's only one route to where fishes are and it's mostly too hard to get there. Noted. I must think about preparing some tilemap loading API next time or perhaps learn some kind of level editor beforehand.

Again, thanks for playing and for the feedback, it's most valuable!

Great theme interpretation. I feel a lot like the human character in real life, so it was great to see what that's like from the cat's perspective!
