I was really hoping for a game that actually involved string theory...

zillix 2010-12-20 06:15

I am the greatest scientist ever!

I got to level 9. The time limit did add an urgency to it that I haven't experienced in these games before, and it was forgiving. Neat.

This is essentially the spell casting from Harry Potter, but the string theory context really works well for it.

The subtle graphical hints really help since the dragging direction is ambiguous sometimes.

It's hard to tell which way to go on the looping ones.

grungi-ankhfire 2010-12-21 22:15

Nice way to kill some time, not too harsh. Got the direction wrong on one of the looping one though. But overall quite nice.

Neat little game, but quickly figured out that if I was quick enough, I could complete the puzzle by moving the mouse as fast as I could to the "little sparkly points :)" without taking much energy damage (It looked to be time dependant?).

Thank you all for your comments.

It is not explained in the game, but the right direction in the looping strings is marked by the sparkles. I thought it was obvious.

Of course you can go off the road, straight to catch the sparkles. That's a valid strategy in this game. But that's risky, because then you must move very fast and accurate, as you lose energy quickly. I think it's difficult to complete all the puzzles doing that.

There are more points if you finish with more time and energy. Maybe in a next version I will add a highscore table so that will be more important for the player.

Level 16, score 3086. Apparently I'm Einstein \o/

Not so fun to play with a lousy mouse, but that's all my complaints.

Science is easy! I played it with a tablet ^^

hamumu 2010-12-27 14:59

Seemed really too easy... I was expecting it to smack me down hard for going outside the lines, but I could roam there for days. Still, it wasn't so easy when the time got really tight. I think it's just not what I expected - I thought you were supposed to very carefully follow the lines, like a game of Operation, but it turns out you're supposed to zip along as fast as you can and roughly follow the lines. When you play it 'right' it's faster and more fun (and you get further). I'm the new Einstein.

Damnit, I only manage to be Niels Bohr. It's a nice little game and I expected suddenly a monster face with corresponding sound to be played :)
The time limit is way too unforgiving, however the path check is very forgiving. So there's more of deciding to be exact or fast instead of being exact.

Neat game. I can see it being really addicting, except it was really hard to play with this track pad (because it randomly stops/starts working). I'll have to try playing again with a real mouse.
