Critical Failure 2010-08-22 14:56

Game crashed while playing. It was fun though.

danielzoran 2010-08-22 14:57

Thanks! I'll try to fix as many bugs as I can before voting starts..

tehalynn 2010-08-23 11:07

Things fly around too fast for me! The tractor beam works well, but I can't react fast enough to use it effectively. Also I need an arrow pointing to the nearest energy core or something, because I have no idea where I'm going.

The music was good. Did you make it yourself?

danielzoran 2010-08-23 11:29

Things are fast because it is fun! :-) Maybe I should have tweaked it a bit more... I agree about the arrow, it was on my to do list, but I had no time..
And yes, I made the music my self, of course!

Thanks for playing!

Love the atmosphere and graphics style! It's gorgeous. Sorry about technical problems with the sound (sfx would be greatly welcome) but you did well with the music. Controls could use smoothing out.

Glad to make it HOME! Congrats on your successful second LD!!

Hey, congratulations on finishing. This is pretty polished visually. The camera scrolls very smoothly, what function did you use? Is the camera velocity proportional to the distance from the ship?

I have a couple of pieces of (hopefully constructive) feedback.

First, I think the difficulty is pretty dependent on randomness as opposed to skill; asteroids and ships are often so fast that it's all but impossible to dodge them.

Also it would be nice if it were clearer when our ship is taking damage. For a while I flew around holding an asteroid in front of me, thinking that it was protecting me from damage, when in fact it wasn't!

Good job, though, this is an impressive offering. I also think you did a good job of picking an appropriate scope. One of these days I'm going to learn that lesson myself :).
Best wishes!

Well done, nice idea too. Controls and physics in general are way to fast and feeling sort of weird, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Instead of just spawning in random warp cores I think it would make more sense if you need to destroy enemy ships to get their warp cores.

Thanks for the comments!

Sparky: The camera velocity is indeed proportional to the distance from the ship, I think it does give nice and smooth results. You can of course look at the code, it's in the GameWorld class... About your feedback, I agree with all of it, but in 48h you have to get your priorities right... :-)

KilledByAPixel: I agree, I should have thought of it myself... Maybe for HOME v2.0 :-)

Thanks again!

Loved the gtraphics and the sound - it was a shame the music didn't loop. Found it a bit too fast and difficult and the ship movement was a bit odd, great use of the theme though.

hempuli 2010-08-25 07:10

I really liked this! It's a tad too fast-paced, but the effects are really cool and the tractor beam works smoothly!

excitemike 2010-08-26 15:22

Oh wow it's a bit too fast to control, but does have a nice feel that way, do maybe what we need is for things to just start out slower and ramp up?

jdruid 2010-08-28 15:37

Too fast to be playable.

moop 2010-08-30 10:40

Fast and playable if a little twitchy.
Seemed like force was applied quite a way behind the centre of gravity of the ship which made it turn very fast once it started going.

jhelle 2010-09-03 04:38

Nice graphics, music and gameplay. Maximizing my window made the game really easy though :)

danielzoran 2010-09-03 08:02

woah! I didn't even notice it can be maximized! It's cool - but indeed, makes it much easier. :-)

Thanks!

pekuja 2010-09-05 00:48

I love the visuals. I wish there was an indicator for where to find the next energy core.

speciesunknown 2010-09-05 02:34

I finally made it home! And I only died 27 times!

Nice concept, this could be an awsome story shooter. It just needs a minimap and more detailed levels. You really should develop this further!

The music ran out - perhaps it wasnt set to loop?

I am a fan of glowy vector graphics spaceships.

danielzoran 2010-09-05 05:07

Thanks for the comments!

I have vague ideas of taking this game as a base for a complex game, but it'll take some time...

I Fixed the music not looping bug - now you can enjoy the music looping all the way HOME! :-)
