Oct 20 08:01:10 da Vinci's WAR MACHINE ♥ 1 I'm a sucker for these survivors-like games and this was a lot of fun! Having the bombard gun do so much more damage but also require you to orient yourself at the enemy was a good idea - it made me change my strat from just doing loops around the enemies. Also, having a big boss at the end kind of made me question my all-fire-rate-and-piercing strategy. The only issue I had was that I frequently instantly selected an upgrade because I was in the middle of spam clicking when I levelled up. Perhaps you could move the mouse cursor off the card area when you level up to prevent that. Otherwise, great game!
Oct 20 08:17:05 15m 55s Boom Boy ♥ 2 This was great! I'd love to post a YOU WIN! screen, but that requires hand-eye coordination that I just do not have. The art style was fun and it had a really consistent and fully-realised feel to it. I liked the music and sound, too. My only issue with the game is that the mouse sensitivity is really high and it would have been nice to adjust that (but I get that in a lot of games, so no big deal). Overall, great job!
Oct 20 08:32:51 15m 46s defrag.exe ♥ 1 Really great looking game and the sound suits the aesthetic well. I'm not sure if there's no "lose" state or I'm just dumb (it's probably that), but I keep getting stuck with no valid moves. It's a pity because the rest of the game feel so polished and the idea is a fun one that fits the theme well. Overall, I liked it!
Oct 20 08:47:15 14m 24s Ancient Tech ♥ 1 The idea for this game was a really good spin on the theme. I quite enjoyed playing it. I don't think I fully understood what I was doing all the time (like why I was unlocking things and what purpose each resource had), but I somehow managed to bring society into a new age of enlightenment. The feel of the game would have benefitted from some music and UI sounds, but overall, I thought it was fun!
Oct 20 09:00:33 13m 18s Iron Elephant ♥ 0 I'm sorry, I tried to play this but I don't really understand what I'm meant to do. I appreciate that some features are missing but I see in your screenshots that the map seems to open up or more train connections appear? I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or not. If you @ me with a reply and let me know how I'm supposed to play it, I will come back and give it a fair rating.
Oct 20 09:16:37 16m 04s It's About Time for Murder ♥ 1 It took me a little while to figure out how the game was meant to be played, but once it clicked I really liked it. I have to admit, I ended up writing down the clues. It would have been nice to cross out the suspects in your pin board when you ruled them out. The music was suited the game well and the pixel art was awesome. Also, a real bakelite telephone in your room in the 1920s??! Seems like someone time travels in luxury! Great work!
Oct 20 09:28:16 11m 39s Old Man Playing Old Game ♥ 1 "Play as Mr. Oldman"... oh... I do. Every day, man. Every damn day. Great idea, great execution. This is such a simple idea but it's also so clever and the whole design fits together perfectly. It manages to walk a fine line between a rage game and an endearing experience really well. My only gripe with it is that sometimes the clicks register incorrectly, sometimes it triggers the wrong direction. I'm not sure if that is by design, though, in an effort to simulate old man reflexes and response time. You can also get stuck on the sides of platforms, but that can sometimes end up helping you (and I needed all the help I could get). Overall, this was a great submission! Good job!
Oct 20 10:00:12 31m 56s The Final Claw ♥ 1 The game loop in this is soooooo satisfying. It took me about 5 rounds before I was able to collect more than 1 item but once I could get multiple things started to move along a bit better. Despite the simplicity of the concept, it actually encourages some good strategic thinking. Do I boost my economy at the cost of my speed of collection or do I do the opposite? Is it better to spend more time and battery searching for a motherlode of items or should I spend as much time digging as possible? Not going to lie, I played this for a long time and I really enjoyed it. The art was straight-forward and the music was a little repetitive, but the game itself was fun and that's the most important thing. Great job!
Oct 21 07:06:53 21h 06m Danger Looms ♥ 1 This is a very substantial game and an intriguing story. I really like your use of the theme and the map that you created is very visually pleasing. The world building is very good and it feels like a fully-realised place with tensions and ideologies. The only thing I feel like it really needed was some music and maybe a few atmospheric sounds at times. Overall, great job!
Oct 21 07:19:13 12m 20s Photoman ♥ 2 You know, I had a similar idea early on but I couldn't figure out a way to make a game out of it. I think what you made is a really cool concept. I like the weird little critters floating around and the general odd-ness of the world. The music cut out for me after a minute or two, but I'm not sure if that was a bug or the song just ended. My only real issue was that it was kind of hard to make out what the icons in the top left actually were. Still, I had fun with it. Good work!
Oct 21 07:27:36 8m 23s Pigeon Post ♥ 1 This is a great idea. The game looks very polished - an incredible level of polish for a jam game! I like how all of the pidgeons had their own traits, it made selecting the right one a bit more challenging. Overall, the aesthetic felt right with the music and sound complementing the art style... and the pidgeon animation was super cute. Amazing!
Oct 21 07:43:56 16m 20s FAKE STEEL ♥ 1 Cool idea and an interesting UI. I really like the rotary dial phone to select your items (though it took me a little bit to figure out what I was meant to do). The start is a bit of a grind. When they get to have the first attack, it's demoralising. My only issue really is that there is a LOT of information to take in and it can be hard to figure out what matters and what doesn't among the stats. Overall, I think it was a pretty ambitious game but you did a good job with it!
Oct 21 08:02:59 19m 03s Antre ♥ 3 The sound was really effective in this one. I also liked the art style. The puzzles were good. I didn't manage to complete it because I couldn't seem to type the code into the typewriter. Aside from that, the main issue that I had was that the font was extremely difficult to read. Other than that though, it was a great game. Good work!
Oct 21 08:36:38 33m 39s SPACECORNER ♥ 1 This is a unique idea for the theme. The puzzle aspect of it was fun, but it is really hard to figure out the correct combinations for some of them - I guess that's the point! I think it came together really well. Good work!
Oct 21 08:49:57 13m 19s FolderSearch ♥ 0 This is a very clever idea and it looks great. The interaction is super intuitive, too. It does feel a bit too slow to progress, however. I feel like the upgrades could be tweaked a bit more in the player's favour, but that's a balancing issue more than anything. The only think I feel like it was missing was music or sound, but given it was emulating a Windows 3.1 experience - that kind of makes sense! Good work!
Oct 21 09:23:38 33m 41s BEEP. SORT. REPEAT ♥ 1 This was great! A really nice spin on the Papers, Please style of gameplay. I like the narrative that you embedded in there - I almost missed it at first. Also the little stories and world building in the notes was fun, too. It all came together really well. Great job!
Oct 22 07:36:41 22h 13m Long Wave Home ♥ 0 This game was really well presented. I thought the mouse design was adorable and the setting was fun an interesting. As the others have said, the controls took a lot of getting used to and, honestly, a more conventional key assignment would have made the game more fun. I did get stuck at once I killed the spider... I'm just not sure what I'm meant to do next. That said, it was a well put together game with nice art and sound, so good job!
Oct 22 08:29:44 53m 03s Penny's Radio ♥ 2 This was a fun game! I feel like you got the pacing of the gameplay just right! My only issue with it was that I found it hard to tell T1, T2 and T3 resources apart (especially the electronics), which made choosing what to loot hard sometimes. There was some great tension when you left your run home late and just still had two tiles to go with less than 10 seconds left. The sound you had was good, but I feel like it would have benefitted from a haunting music track, too. Overall, great job!
Oct 22 08:41:16 11m 32s The Athanor Estate ♥ 2 This is great! I love the idea of making an "old tech" game for the theme of old tech. The writing was excellent and the performance of the text processing was impressive. I didn't manage to finish the game... I think going into the boiler room was a bad idea. Who would have thought after being asked three times if I really wanted to do that?! Anyway, great game!
Oct 22 08:46:51 5m 35s zeppizza ♥ 1 Cool idea! As some one who worked in a pizza shop many years ago, I have to say that I haven't lost my skills. As some one who has never flown an airship... ah... well, let's just say there were no survivors! The core game loop was fun once I got the hang of it, but it really needed some music and/or sounds to make it feel more lively. Overall, good job!
Oct 22 08:57:19 10m 28s TechTonic ♥ 1 Cool game and cool idea. It plays really well and, I have to say, I LOVED the shatter transition when you first load in. I was absolutely awful at it (as I am with all fighters) but I am super impressed with the range of moves and the registration of hits. I would say, though, that I probably would have preferred fewer characters with more fleshed out animations - but that would detract from your general game concept, so it's fair enough. Great work! (Also, the songs absolutely bang!)
Oct 22 09:05:36 8m 17s Proper Cannoning ♥ 1 Super unlucky with your team (and yourself) falling sick! I've had that happen in a jam before and it does make things very hard. I have to say, even though it's unfinished, you've got the makings of a really fun little game here. I still got a lot of enjoyment out of it. Allowing more fine adjustment with shift was an absolute game changer. Also... I'm sorry to all the birds. They didn't deserve that. Good effort despite the adversity!
Oct 22 09:17:23 11m 47s Le sceau du baron ♥ 1 Interesting idea! I liked the writing in this. The general concept and game loop was also fun, but it was a bit too easy. The only time I had an issue is when I miss clicked because all my stamps were stacked on top of each other. A bigger range of riddles and more things you had to do (or not do) to each letter would have been good... but, it's a game jam! There's never enough time! Overall, good work.
Oct 22 09:30:06 12m 43s Download_BTC.exe ♥ 0 This is great! With all of this Bitcoin, I can now afford treatment for the repetitive strain injury from all this clicking!!! Seriously, though, this was such a good game. Really a perfect size and scope for a game jam, with great graphics and cool little minigames. Very clever. Although, there is a special place in hell for whoever decided to let ads popup in the way of the flappy bird game... that was brutal! Overall, I loved it!
Oct 22 09:36:27 6m 21s Temple ♥ 0 For eight hours of work, this is really good. I struggled with the rotation puzzle just because it was hard to see what the shapes were. I just re-read your page and see that you made this in your own engine! That's super cool! I also wasn't super inspired by this theme, so I understand where you're coming from... but that's game jams for you! The theme always sucks! 😆 Anyway, great work getting something together in the end.
Oct 22 09:45:48 9m 21s Now Showing a Stranger ♥ 1 This was very interesting. I was wondering if you would let us make Meursault into a half-way functional person... turns out, no. 😆 The art style was really interesting and suited the existential nature of the game and the general tone of The Stranger as a study of estrangement and indifference. Overall, I really liked it. Well done!
