Apr 22 21:35:31 Core Breach ♥ 1 Challenging and quite fun, learning to control the ship was a little trippy, but also rewarding. I wished there were more levels to maybe explore various patterns of the bombs/turrets, which were introduced in the "ascend". Nonetheless, I really enjoyed the 13 minutes it took me to beat this game. Minimal graphics worked well here, and the sfx complemented the art style, though some music would help the game feel complete. But, overall, and most importantly, it is fun to play.
Apr 23 17:44:16 20h 08m Diving for Oxygen ♥ 1 The game would benefit from more complexity for sure, but I like the core concept. The divers' sprites are also nice. The background drone helps to create the mood, but I also wished for the sound to maybe evolve a little bit more, as it ends up feeling a bit repetitive, though I understand it's partially the time constraints of the jam. I didn't encounter any bugs, and the AI seemed to work well, and the fact that it's all on a self-made engine is impressive. Overall a good entry! (One thing though, when playing the web version, the ESC key, which opens the menu, also leaves the full screen mode, so I think a different key binding would work here better.)
Apr 23 21:50:28 4h 06m Raid the Abyss ♥ 1 I've played the web version. the audio-visual aspect is very high quality. Unique style, the retro aesthetic. All the sprites, animations. ui and menu illustrations are really good, especially for a jam game, and the audio pairs well (though besides the really good main menu music, I missed the soundtrack in the actual gameplay) The movement and combat felt a little clunky to me, especially using the shield, which felt very inconsistent, though maybe it was due to me playing the web version. Also the character level would reset after death (which I assume was intended), but the indicator on screen would still show the level I died at, which kind of confused me at first. The reset in exp would also make gaining it back pretty frustrating, and when I died in Layer 2 fighting the Balrog-looking boss, it was gg. He would just scale himself so much faster and regaining my lvl was straight-up impossible with even the basic orc posing a great challenge capable of one-shotting me. Though maybe that was the intention, it definitely made the game more chanllenging, but combined with the clunky movement it sometimes felt unfair. I've also experienced a bug where some enemies were invisible, though that was at a point where, the performance-wise the game was struggling, so again, perhaps it's the fault of me playing the web version. But despite these things I did like the overall idea for the combat system here, and with more polish and added complexity in enemy types, and maybe various weapons etc. I think it could work really well. It reminded me a little bit of the Crypt of the NecroDancer, though without the rhythmic element. Nonetheless, the game has a high production quality and it's impressive what you've cooked up here.
Apr 24 01:23:08 3h 32m Deep Delivery ♥ 1 At first, I completely misinterpreted the behavior of the anglerfishes, but figuring it out was very satisfying. A high level of polish all around, great mood, neat visual style, and atmospheric music, all create a cohesive whole.
Apr 24 22:00:18 20h 37m Hooking Back ♥ 2 I liked the cozy vibes, the art is nice and the music is really good as well. Even if you didn't manage to implement the entirety of it, the adaptive aspect of music also worked pretty nicely. And the story was moving as well. Especially what happens after 500m struck a chord. Also, how descriptions of certain items didn't seem to make sense until you realize their meaning later. A few quality-of-life improvements I missed were an ability to choose which depth you want to launch to, and also the 'A' key didn't work, though the left arrow luckily does. Overall I liked how the game was at times funny and at times poignant, and while perhaps the actual gameplay was a bit too minimal, I enjoyed the experience.
Apr 25 01:44:52 3h 44m Devil Elimination Party of Tactical Hunters ♥ 1 I really enjoyed the game. I liked the upgrading system and the overall feel of the turn-based combat. Sadly, the game would freeze for me completely around the 4th floor (I've tried a few times, always leaading to the same result), completely unresponsive, with no way to progress, which is unfortunate, because that was the part where it started to get challenging. The art and music were very solid though, and besides these crashes, the gameplay was engaging as well.
Apr 25 17:19:34 15h 34m bucketbot ♥ 0 Some aspects of the game feel a little *too* inspired by Downwell, though gameplay-wise, they are quite different, partially thanks to the physics-based bucket, though it comes at the cost of the controls feeling less exact. Also, because the map is not procedurally generated, the game changes into a sort of puzzle, where you strategize about what is the optimal path to avoid damage. The challenge was nice, but in the end, I ended up winning by figuring out like others, that you can stop the robot on the walls, and I am not sure if that was an intended mechanic, because then the game becomes fairly easy. Overall, nice presentation and pretty fun gameplay.
Apr 25 20:57:29 3h 37m #Deep ♥ 1 Feels very polished. I liked all the mechanics, though I found the gameplay to be a little slow, as you've pointed in the known issues, as the rooms get bigger the size ends up being frustrating, especially when you are searching for a specific station and it turns out it's not on the level. Besides that, after getting a decent sword and other upgrades, the fights were pretty easy, even against a large number of zombies. The deep quotes were on a nice level of corniness.
Apr 25 21:56:11 58m 42s Depths Of The Sleep ♥ 0 Solid entry! I liked the psychological take on the theme. The music and card illustrations help to create the proper mood. As for the gameplay, I don't really have any complaints, for the length of the game it's complex enough, though I imagine for a full-length game, the systems would need to be deeper. Still, I found it not too easy and not too hard, as I've failed a couple of times, but it wasn't frustrating.
Apr 25 22:45:16 49m 05s The Deepest Diamond ♥ 2 Pretty fun. I found the goose. Sometimes I'd get confused on why and when would the character drop the samples, and this made some of the parkour frustrating, also sometimes throwing the gems up would make them stay at the higher block and sometimes they'd fall of the edge and this also felt inconsistent, though I understand it's all momentum and physics based. Some of the clues were also maybe a bit too obvious, though I suspect maybe without them, the puzzles would end up feeling unintuitive, so I understand why you've added them. The game took me just short of 11 minutes. Good entry!
Apr 25 23:30:23 45m 07s The Changes We Make ♥ 0 The game (web version) is either very confusing or very broken. I didn't manage to finish Level 1. However the art is nice, and if I understand what you tried to accomplish here, the idea is interesting.
Apr 26 00:20:14 49m 51s Deep in the Mine ♥ 1 Pretty cool, the music getting faster with low oxygen was a nice touch. The main mechanic is implemented well, but I wished for more complexity. Anyway, nice work! The game feels polished.
