Jan 11 04:23:06 Necrosis ♥ 1 Really cool little game. It took me a few minutes to figure out what each thing did, but it was cool to discover, and the art helped me! I found the game a bit easy to beat. I echo the desire for more scenarios. Of course - jam - right. But a difficulty thing modifying the "aggressiveness" of the AI, or even just their tick rate might have been cook. Anyway, fun game! Love the black-and-bright style, very old school.
Jan 11 06:06:14 1h 43m Orchard Alchemy ♥ 1 Really cool concept! I really liked the automation, though I found moving the fruit around a little cumbersome. The numbers were a bit slow, particularly with the fancier fruit, but it was cool. I think maybe being able to research multiple fruits at once would help that? Also I feel like the money limit might generally be a bit low. Probably just my playstyle. I really liked the graphical style, really appropriate and cute use of tiles!
Jan 11 06:17:36 11m 22s Astro ♥ 2 Cool take on the theme! I felt the rotation speed of the craft was a bit slow, and that kinda hampered further stuff in the game. I didn't get a lot of the cool moments of zipping around asteroids that the speed of some of the asteroids seemed to suggest would be cool.
Jan 11 06:44:43 27m 07s Fairy Feeder ♥ 3 Nice little game! I got to "Flawless Harvest" but my wrist started hurting so I had to quit. A bit click-heavy!
Jan 11 07:15:51 31m 08s Sky Harvest ♥ 0 21 points high score! It's pretty tough. It was nice to see if you hit a lower root it was recoverable, but because there was so much of the screen without tree, it was really easy to just fall to the ground. I think it'd be fun to play on a wider tree but that'd be different. I dunno. Fun little arcade game.
Jan 11 07:28:05 12m 14s Combine Competition ♥ 0 That other harvester is so quick. I'm not used to slowing down in games but it worked okay. It gave the harvester the right feeling, but I did destroy some fencing. I also eventually got the other harvester to destroy some fence, and won, which was cool. I dunno. Just kind of a fun little game! Good job!
Jan 11 07:33:04 4m 59s Cube Digger ♥ 2 Cute little diorama! It's kinda fun introspecting on how obvious each of the things are to somebody who plays minecraft, but somebody who hasn't would probably be totally lost, especially on "gather sticks" and "gather diamond". I dunno, cool!
Jan 11 07:53:17 20m 13s Drake's Fortune ♥ 2 Really cool setup - I loved the physics based destruction. I also didn't find a lot of use for the breath, aside from being silly. I wanted more mechanical upgrades! Those were really satisfying! Good job overall!
Jan 11 17:20:25 9h 27m Strange Orchardist ♥ 1 Really cool game to cruise through! I felt if you were good at the mid-air dash, the game kinda got trivialized. I really liked the last level with the ice on the right where you couldn't do this though! Very cool!
Jan 11 17:45:20 24m 55s Doki Doki Ninjin ♥ 2 Was this inspired a bit by A Short Hike? Really really cute game! I did think the "check every plant" thing for collecting golden carrots was a lot of clicking, but it worked well enough.
Jan 11 18:07:17 21m 57s Click Click Farm ♥ 1 Really really cute game! I liked the music a lot. The beginning was a bit slow, but once it picked up I wanted more upgrades to chase! Great job!
Jan 11 18:40:07 32m 50s Harvest Dune ♥ 2 Really well balanced game. Even after retrying I barely got out! Great job on that!
Jan 11 18:45:43 5m 36s Haustmåne ♥ 1 Really pretty and moody game! Sadly I couldn't find the potato. I tried a few times but it didn't seem to be around the outside and the villagers always got me trying to go in the village. Maybe making where the villagers are looking a bit more obvious would help?
Jan 11 18:59:25 13m 42s Feeding Time at the Church of the Cosmic Void ♥ 1 Really cute game! Great job on the graphics. I felt the hitboxes were a bit punishing. Especially while getting the boar under the flying things it got quite tight.
Jan 11 19:04:12 4m 47s Delivery Maze ♥ 0 Really cool concept! I liked having to navigate through the maze. I didn't really mind the repeated things, but I wish the openings were a little bit bigger so that the fruit didn't sometimes get stuck.
Jan 12 04:04:06 8h 59m Green Thumb ♥ 1 Woah, really cool game. I felt the budget was like, a bit tight on the beginning ones. It'd be nice if you didn't have to do things optimally to win, give a little room for the player to feel awesome! That might just be me. Cute art as well though, good job!
Jan 17 01:22:02 117h 17m Protect the Garden ♥ 2 Oh my god those bees! How do they die! I really really liked the concept of the game. The sfx was a bit harsh so it kept me from wanting to retry too many times, but the gameplay was really great. I loved the differences in the weapons and the strategy in uprooting. The watermelon was fantastic too! Great job!
Jan 17 01:38:15 16m 13s The PIT ♥ 1 The concept of this game is very very cool! I really like the way the plants grow. I find the stress of having to place plants before other plants get too big to be used a bit antithetical to how I want to play the game. I really like the "how do I place this and give myself good opportunities to keep going" with the random plants. It'd just be nice to be under a bit less stress while doing so. Really really cool though, and the graphics are great for this kind of thing! In the comments you talk about plants passing DNA to their seeds. That's really really cool! While playing I wasn't sure if the plant types themselves had different growth habits or what...
Jan 17 08:26:07 6h 47m Dark Harvest ♥ 1 Really spooky game! I found the lack of a circular light around the player a bit annoying, but mechanically it really worked. It was realistic, and super, super easy to accidentally be side-swiped by an enemy. The game as well, as a result, felt super super creepy. I was kept on edge the whole time! Absolutely great job on the mood. I kind of wish there were a bit more interplay between the enemies and the things you're harvesting, as it seems just rushing the high-value targets is always the best, and isn't *super* risky. I dunno. Great job though!
Jan 17 08:30:39 4m 32s Deep Harvest VII ♥ 2 God - ridiculously atmospheric. Bloodfin watched me stream this, but I did want to leave a comment with my thoughts as well, for the rest of the team. I had to ask bloodfin if there were any jumpscares The game *really* felt like it wanted to give me a jumpscare. Which is really cool! Holding your audience like that without ever actually cashing it in. Really really cool. As I came up to the platform and the music stopped, and the murkiness of the depths surrounded me, I felt like *something* was going to happen. As I heard about the fate of the platform with the audio logs I *knew* something should happen. As I seen the corroded metal parts I just knew Bloodfin had lied to me - but they hadn't. You all did absolutely great on making EVERYTHING work toward that vibe. Great great job. I also really appreciated the huge HUD. It was nicely evocative of older games and really fit the graphical style you seemed to be going for. Great job!
Jan 17 08:34:12 3m 33s Warden of the Woods ♥ 2 Really cool little world! I'm not sure if resources were meant to feel kind of finite but they did. I couldn't really tell any way to know whether a given little tree would give me a nut, which I needed for saplings for a lot of the crafting things. I didn't get held up on progression with this thankfully, but I wasn't able to make many health potions. I really liked the different areas (and their soundtracks). Great job with that. The combat was a bit punishing. It'd be nice if enemies had a bit of wind-up or a collision box more well represented with art. A lot of it was just kind of feeling things out, which without a real punishment for dying was fine, but it's be nice! Good job!
Jan 17 08:41:57 7m 45s Super Plantoid ♥ 2 bigwhiteshogun and dan17 watched me stream this game, but I like to also comment on these games, for additional thoughts and for the other member. I really liked the game! God 4/4 solar flowers and 20/20 coins! The secrets were really cool, I love that kind of thing in a jam game. I found some of the platforming a bit tight in context. The colliders didn't seem *super* tight to the sprites. I think a little more leniency could make this feel a lot better. I also think more frequent checkpoints would be nice. It's not really that there weren't enough checkpoints, it's that they weren't always in convenient locations. This really stuck out when I was trying to backtrack to clean up 20/20. It was very easy to get super far from a checkpoint but also not pass another one, which made it really suck to die. This probably all sounds fairly negative but it's mostly nitpicking! I really enjoyed it and these are the things that'd take the game from great to perfect for me! The pixel art was incredible, as was the music. All of the areas felt like they had distinct identities and the quality of the art was really consistent throughout. A real accomplishment for so many tilesets! Great job!
Jan 17 08:45:58 4m 01s The Night Harvest ♥ 1 Hi! I streamed this tonight, but I also like to comment! I really liked the fast forward. Especially with so many cutscenes in each short playthrough, it was a really good way to respect a user's time. Great job there! The mechanics were fairly simple but really effective. They communicated exactly what the player should do and gave a really good test. The trap originally felt really tight with timing but after going back a couple of times it was a good challenge! Day 4 felt IMPOSSIBLE and then - well - I don't want to spoil it but GREAT job with the ending.
Jan 17 08:50:56 4m 58s Adelie - Water Under the Bridge ♥ 1 167 fish! I haven't went back and got the screencap but Meep saw me on stream! Great job! This really evoked Crypt of the Necrodancer in a great way. Each of the enemies had a really distinct feeling, and they worked together really really well. I think my primary complaint, and one I said during the stream, was that there was a bit *too much* randomness in the generation. Some spawns were very nearly impossible, while others were free, at the same day. Fixing this is a very hard problem, but as I mentioned, I think some rejection sampling could help. Really great mechanics though. I'd say overall probably nine tenths of my deaths were DEFINITELY my own mistake and not just a setup that was too difficut ™️, so that's a pretty good rate. Art was also very cute! Great job!
Jan 17 08:55:48 4m 52s Metallic Yield ♥ 0 I streamed this, and as I mentioned during stream, like, the only thing I really want is a little *less* chaos. Which is a hell of a thing for me to say about a game, I really love chaos. But as I was swinging twenty meters above a crumbling building, I realized there may be too much chaos. I think in particular the buildings are prone to falling down in what feels like pretty random order, and a little more connection to what seem to be the structural elements of the building might help. Like if I'm just pulling sheetrock or plywood out I wouldn't expect that to drastically accelerate the collapse of a building. The second thing is just that it'd be nice if the grappling hook basically consistently pulled you up to where you hit. Moving around quickly vertically seems really important, and randomness in how well the hook pulls you up doesn't really seem to work to me. It's very fun, until you realize you actually do need to be where you hit and not flying in the air over it.
