Apr 24 14:09:32 They will be alive! (Of course if you save them) ♥ 0 The concept is nice but it seriously lacks feedback. I didn't understand you could click on different buildings until I restarted and reread the manual more carefully. If the buildings would pop or get a circle around them when hovered over you'd know they can be clicked. The game didn't fit my screen, so I had to zoom out the browser. Maybe next time go for a simpler concept but more juicy? :)
May 4 23:39:46 249h 30m Guardian Lich ♥ 0 Really cool game! Art and music is great. But I wish it was a bit faster and more challenging. Maybe have more enemy units, but with less hitpoints. I think it's enough if you strike a single mage 2 times. Having more enemies would add to the tactical thinking.
May 4 23:49:20 9m 34s EXTREME Garden Simulator ♥ 0 Impressive for a game made in your own engine. But the game is not challenging at all. There's no feedback if you are on the correct spot to water the plants. I've wasted so much water because I didn't spot that I wasn't actually watering, because I didn't stand on the correct spot. I'm actually not sure what the goal of the game was, as there is no timer nor any other "success" feedback.
May 5 00:05:34 16m 14s Airplane Mode ♥ 1 This is amazing! This is the most relatable game I played for LDJAM 😄 Love how bad-but-good the art is. Impressive work for 72 hours. I think I had a bug, I climbed up the beams and met the worker on top, he said he's giving me the wrench, but I never got it. Never appeared in my inventory.
May 5 00:14:17 8m 43s Railroad Lantern ♥ 0 Nice art and cool music. The game is not very interesting for a single player.
May 5 00:31:24 17m 07s Emergency Call ♥ 2 Reminds of one of the best games ever made: Enviro-Bear 2000! It's really nice, but it's really annoying to control. I wish the other arm wouldn't recenter the wheel constantly, it would've been much easier. Also a way to look around in a sensible way. And I certainly wouldn't want to be picked up by a paramedic that drives like this!
May 5 00:44:03 12m 39s LAIKA ♥ 1 "Love for Babushka fills you with determination" - relatable 😄 "You were late - But your babushka still loves you very much" - this is the most realistic game ever 😄 Such an amazing little game. A perfect jam game!!
May 5 01:21:07 37m 04s Branch Out ♥ 0 I really wanted to get into the game, but I just couldn't get it. No matter what I do my plant just dies. I can't seem to gain sun after a certain point. Even if I build completely evenly, one of the things will just start running out very quickly at some point. It feels a bit like holding a stick on a single finger. I gave it a shot but couldn't figure out in what order you're supposed to build to keep it balanced. I had to reread the tutorial several times to be sure I didn't miss something, but not really. Just like a lot of LDJAM games, it lacks some good feedback. I'm not really aware if the bug thing actually helps because the plants keep being eaten anyway. I like the mechanic of building branches, that's something new I haven't seen in many games.
May 5 01:39:15 18m 08s Runner 2049 ♥ 0 Nice art but the game is very hard, and lacks good feedback. Juice it up!
May 5 01:55:40 16m 25s Embers ♥ 0 Very beautiful and simple game. Quite relaxing too. Wish there was a few more things to do.
May 5 02:46:56 51m 16s Rocket Maniacs ♥ 0 Amazing game! Wish there was more. Really challenging. I like the fact you need to time jumps precisely, it's one of those games that is easy to figure out, but hard to master, like Wipeout. Reminds me graphically of Tony Hawks Pro skater games a bit. And I wish it was a bit faster maybe. Failing really becomes quickly frustrating and makes the game repetitive and "feel slow". Wish you could mouse-look around freely in both axis and not just one axis. Maybe it would be nice to add some wall riding/jumping as well? Also, I felt the platform clouds are very off-putting, didn't match the techno-industrial style of the rest of the game. Also great to see a custom-quake-like engine, I assume?
May 5 03:02:40 15m 44s Rock Bottom ♥ 0 Nice and simple game. I couldn't pass the 3rd level tho. The controllable springs basically have infinite power, and in the end it kinda depends on the luck and how well you target. As a Rube Goldberg machine it would be much better to have as few controllable things as possible. It reminds me of The Incredible Machine.
May 5 03:23:32 20m 52s DEBUGGER ♥ 1 This game is incredible! Such a great idea and execution. Best LD46 game I played so far. The infinite screen effect, the "virtual bugs" attacking real physical inputs, just amazing.
May 5 03:37:23 13m 51s Retro Driver ♥ 0 Hey, can't download the game, the link leads to 404.
May 5 04:00:31 23m 08s goose no lose ♥ 1 Amazing game! Agree with @kaappis that the tapping to move is pretty annoying. But everything else is so good. The puzzles are "tight" and well thought out.
May 6 17:54:42 37h 54m Tyson Lee: KEEP IT ALIVE EDITION ♥ 1 Clever game! Nice to see another Zachlike on LDJAM (check out our game as well!). Btw, I don't think the validation was correct, I certainly didn't do the puzzles correctly first time, and the game thought it was correct. It would also help if gates had slightly different art than just the label, a different color or shape. I confused myself once where I thought I was using NOR and I was using OR, I didn't spot the missing "N"
May 6 19:53:04 1h 58m hype dream ♥ 1 Really beautiful art! The game itself is not that fun, unfortunately. The tutorial makes it seem like it is quite complex, but game is pretty much just about clicking. The tutorial could've definitely been shorter. The amount of original art is incredible, really really job well done! Even the credits screen is so well made! Very polished!
May 6 22:14:17 2h 21m The Last Lighthouse ♥ 1 Nice. Good reuse of assets. I wish that you didn't use standard Unity controller, it feels very janky because of it. I wrote a blog post why the Unity controller is terrible, I recommend you read it, and hopefully you fix those common issues for your next game: http://nothkedev.blogspot.com/2017/11/how-to-cope-with-standard-unity-fps.html
May 6 22:39:21 25m 04s Oh Deer! ♥ 1 This is a weird-ass game. I like how the deer moves. But everything else is pretty basic. I didn't understand how wolfs die. They just disappear?
May 6 22:48:03 8m 42s 1000 Miles Drive ♥ 0 1000 miles away?? I guess this is set in the near future where the medical system has gone to shite, and there's only one hospital in the whole country 😆 Wish it had better feedback and more "juiciness", there could be screenshake on hitting stuff, and some smoothing/noise for better sense of speed. And of course sound! Great one nevertheless 🚑
May 6 23:16:14 28m 11s pod ♥ 1 Really nice concept and beautiful graphics! But quite janky physics. I've done similar things before myself. I don't understand why the the main body sometimes acts very un-physically, when you jump it flies in a very awkward way and you'd expect that it should behave like a free-falling body. Are you maybe setting leg rotations through the transform and not through joint motors? Btw, when you change the amplitude, the "reference point" doesn't change and hence the leg will immediately jump to the target location as if the frequency is measured from 0. The only way to "safely" change frequency is to reduce amplitude to 0, then change frequency, then change amplitude back to desired. Instead, I suggest you should move the reference point as well. For example you could track time yourself and add delta time * frequency each frame. Then the position will be preserved when you change amplitudes. I assume it's currently something like this: ``` legAngle = sin(game.time * frequency); ``` Instead, you should do something like: ``` float legTime = 0; // in update: legTime += game.deltaTime * frequency; legAngle = sin(legTime); ```
May 7 00:45:17 1h 29m Dance n' Die ♥ 1 The game looks good, but it's not quite clear how you're supposed to play it. You can just click constantly on enemies and there's no penalty for being offbeat. Too bad it's quite unbalanced as well. The health feels a bit too "cheap", while making traps, which are far more expensive and only affect certain enemies, a bit pointless. But the music is great!
