Dec 4 04:04:51 The Star War 2: The quest for more money ♥ 2 This was a pretty funny game, and it made me smile. On the screen where you are supposed to press space to make the game, I was disappointed that pressing space made no visual difference. I would have liked to have seen it control the guy pressing on the keyboard or something. -- also because of this, I didn't see that I was actually supposed to keep pressing space to progress for a little while because I missed the tiny % progress bar on the side. Sometimes the sound effects seem delayed from what is causing them. I noticed this from shooting lasers in the boss fight. I'm not sure if this is intentional or not. I think you did a great job executing what you were trying to do. I think that some of the annoyingly high goals were a way to evoke the theme, and they actually ended up not being that bad when its just something you are doing while listening to the narration. However, when you start swimming in your own money to somehow collect more money, the audio starts playing on a loop, and then you start thinking about the gameplay again. I love the scope that you set for yourself, and I think you should start looking more into game feel for your future games. Also, have you tried using any other game creation tools other than Unity? I feel like Unity only makes things more complicated for a game like this.
Dec 4 04:24:21 19m 30s Kids, Don't Do Wild Magic ♥ 0 Its an interesting little fight between two mages. The controls were a little too awkward for me. Why do you have to hold right click to move the camera? why do you have to hold space and shift to cast spells? I found it was too hard to predict where the fireball was going to land (given the camera angle, distance, and depth perception) to use it intentionally. The other mage has clearly better spells imo. He can actually shoot right at you, spawn ice right on top of you, and teleport away. I won on my second attempt by just spamming spells randomly and hoping one of the wild magic things would help me.
Dec 4 07:02:10 2h 37m UF-Ohh ♥ 1 When you say the game can be completed in 15 seconds, do you mean any random level? Does the game ever end or does it just keep giving you random levels? I really really like the title Its both UFO and Uh-Ohh which is hilarious combined
Dec 4 07:12:58 10m 48s Zombie's Revenge ♥ 1 Its nice to see some javascript games. Pure Javascript is also my method of choice. I really like how you incorporated a quick controls tutorial and forced me to read it. The Zombies look too perfectly circular they keep looking like watermelon or bowling balls. I like the variety in powerup drops. It would be helpful if there was an indicator for when the shotgun ends especially so I know whether its based on time or on shots.
Dec 4 07:35:25 22m 27s Glitched ♥ 3 I think that the concept of glitches could have been interesting if it used common glitches from making games to have to solve some sort of mechanics puzzle. I was disappointed that the "glitches" in this game are just visual flares. The only "glitch" that actually affected gameplay was the completely random warp that would stop you and then move you forward. This caused you to randomly be pushed off of the one block wide platforms if the timing was right. I couldn't tell if there was any way to predict it, but it was just annoying and I ended up moving slowing and carefully so I wouldn't have to start over from random timing. When I died to the first enemy and was teleported back to the beginning I thought it might be one of the "glitches." You should really add a death animation or something so that the player knows why they are being teleported. The jump felt a little too floaty. It was annoying having to wait for him to fall to get over small elevation changes. I found out that you can press down to fall faster, but it doesn't really help that much. I feel like it should go down faster when I release the jump button - how platformers usually modify jump height. I think that the game succeeds visually. I like the art style, especially the tree. The "glitch" aesthetic is pulled off quite well.
Dec 4 19:40:37 12h 05m Level Onslaught ♥ 2 I really really like this art style. I got excited when I saw the gifs. It reminds me of the game Crawl Sometimes if I tried to dodge after attacking, it would roll in the wrong direction. The movement does not feel that responsive with dodging and attacking. The way your movement stops when you swing just doesn't feel right. The swing itself should move the character forward in a way that matches the animation. The dodge felt too slow to be usable, and the sound effect really threw me off because of its volume and it not being in the tutorial section. Sometimes I would hit an enemy that I'm very close to and nothing would happen. (I think this happens after I get hit or after I dodge). I got to the second level up screen and it instantly closed (I think from me hitting space to attack). Do the different upgrades do anything different or are they just visually different? Again, I really like the graphics, and I think that some game feel tweaks would really compliment them.
Dec 4 21:56:39 2h 16m Guy is late for school ♥ 2 Nice game! It was fun to play. I love the stomping effect that happens when you reach a certain size. I like how the mood changes when you are late, and how it feels like I caused the title to be true by being too slow. It makes me wonder if you can actually get there in time...
Dec 4 22:07:10 10m 31s Noah's Apartment ♥ 1 Nice game! I liked the puzzles, and it was fun to complete. I thought that filling up the animals to reach a certain line seemed a little out of place. It would have been fine to just have to use all of them without any getting eaten. I love the title. Its a funny concept
Dec 4 22:22:38 15m 28s Crazy Snake ♥ 0 I really like the art, I think that the biting animation could have had more oomf if you could actually feel like snake chomp at the food instead of just sucking it in towards you. Any time I hit a spike I would get stuck on it until I die, and then have to start the whole game over. I like the music, its simple and isnt irritating.
Dec 5 06:35:02 8h 12m Phrygian Fantasy ♥ 1 Wow I really enjoyed this game! The whole ending sequence was really cool. The camera movement when you turn around was a little abrupt, I would have liked a box to move around in before the camera starts moving. There is an amazing hour long GDC talk about this if you are interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdvCO97jOQk I think I may have broke the sequence a little bit. I figured out that you can just take out your money in the shop after you have upgraded one all the way, so you only need like 20 coins to beat the whole game. I almost didn't even notice that you can break down the trees and stuff after they transform from the gems. I was able to get to the end without destroying any houses. I like the art and sound, the game feel is pretty good except for the camera issue. Also, does the fancy door at the top do anything?
Dec 5 16:28:07 9h 53m Cursest Dungeon ♥ 3 HYEAH! Nice game, I like the graphics and the sound. I was really confused what what happening when I first got the treasure chests. I thought that I was supposed to be able to do something with them there and that it was broken or something. The death animation is broken for the falling spikes. You just keep playing for a second and then instantly teleport. It is not clear to the player when they actually hit it or that the teleportation is because of a death. Getting on the rope felt a little buggy. You can't grab it unless you jump first, and sometimes it doesn't work if you are too close. Also there is no visual difference between the blocks that you can climb/fall through and the ones you can't. When I first realized I had to do the whole thing 4 times, I was worried that it would be tedious, but the changes that happen each time make it still interesting and engaging to go through. I thought that was really well done, a smart way to extend the content.
Dec 5 18:55:17 2h 27m SUPER COP HERO ♥ 0 Holy crap 5 Stars! This game was absolutely amazing. I love everything especially the graphics and the game feel. It was pretty difficult with a trackpad, and I'm sure you already know that F2 to restart is a weird choice, especially on mac.
Dec 5 19:10:46 15m 29s Wasted Space ♥ 1 I really liked the graphics and the ring spin effect to get the debris off The acceleration/deceleration on the ship made it a little to difficult to navigate through the spaces. The price of the second ship seemed way too high given how slowly you can get gold. Nice game!
Dec 6 16:51:19 21h 40m Artifact ♥ 1 Cool game! The jumping physics felt a little weird, you can't stop your forward momentum, but you can reverse it. If you overshoot a platform you can't drop down on it, you have to go past it and then go backwards. I thought that I might be able to hide under a platform from the robot's sensor beam because of the way it hovers above and beams downwards. I thought that the controls for holding multiple was pretty cool. It complimented the issue of the more you have the worse it is.
