Aug 1 13:01:52 Dark Lab Escape ♥ 1 Great game!! Graphics were a little glitchy for me, but maybe thats just because I'm running this on a potato... Being able to move the beam while it fires is a nice idea. The aim assist (red line) seems a little awkward. Too long for it to just be a direction indicator and too short to be much of an assist in the later levels. But thats just me nitpicking on details XD. Otherwise great game for 48h. The sound effects were great and the idea of the game was executed pretty well. Would love to see this as a polished game!
Aug 1 13:28:39 26m 47s Power Home ♥ 0 Quite complex for a game made in 48h. Controls weren't all that self explanatory but it was fine once i figured it out. It would be more interesting if there was a clearer goal to work towards other than just surviving (which was easy enough i think). I think it would have been better to cut a few of the mechanics in order to expand on the rest and include some visual feedback on the crew's actions.
Aug 1 13:39:06 10m 27s Paper Plane Simulator 2007 ♥ 0 Simple and surprisingly realistic! I like your interpretation for the "power" that's running out.
Aug 1 13:59:49 20m 43s Running Low ♥ 0 Awesome game!! Graphics are great and the controls and movements are really smooth. The only criticism I have is that the game basically involves just trial and error, going in random directions and opening doors randomly until you find the reactor. There isn't really a puzzle or challenge involved other than memorising the map, so it looses out on the replayability factor. But still, great job!
Aug 1 14:16:52 17m 03s Down in the Light Mine ♥ 1 Apart from what was already mentioned (GUI, tutorials, etc), I think the design of the level can be improved. After my first playthrough, i realised that I never even saw more than half the level (i went straight for the arrow once I saw it), including the big enemy and the rest of the ore veins. At the risk of making the game seem more linear, I think just placing the enemies and arrow differently would have helped to showcase all the work you put in for the game. The glow effect is probably the best part about this game because it does so much in setting the mood and providing visual indicators for the player to follow. I think a good way to fix the problem described by @tusim (being able to just play with lights off), is to REMOVE the glow from the enemies and traps. It'll create a interesting situation where the player needs to turn on the light to see the enemies, but having the light on also attracts the enemies to the player, so the player needs to manage having the light on/off a lot more carefully. Maybe removing the ability to attack the enemies would also help to create the fear/tension.
Aug 1 14:25:58 9m 06s Power Down ♥ 1 Easily one of the best games I've played so far! Great graphics and animations, and the controls work well (although the jumping felt slightly awkward for reasons that I can't put my finger on). I really like the way you set up the tutorial. Introducing the mechanics gradually and putting some interesting variations and combinations later on. Really the only thing missing is more levels because I would really like to play more of this! I don't really see how the "running out of" part of the theme comes in here, but that's just for the theme adherence. The game itself is great.
Aug 1 14:44:59 19m 01s Cards of Power ♥ 0 This is a cool way to interpret the theme! But sadly I don't think CCGs are very well suited for ludum dare due to the complexity involved in designing and making a good CCG, and this game really shows why. The base CCG mechanics themselves work great, but there is little to no strategy involved in the game, even when playing against another human being. Generally, most cards that allow you to gain more energy should be played immediately, same with building unless they have significant energy costs. The game essentially boils down to luck as whoever gets more of the energy stealing cards would probably win easily. However, these problems can't really be fixed in the short span of 48h or even 72h for the jam, so I think this is about as good as one can get for a game jam. I think one way to make the game better is to allow players to see what cards the opponents have played and cards that are still in effect, so there is at least a foundation for strategies to be built upon instead of each player just playing their own hand in the best way that they can. Functionally it is a great game and its pretty fun for a couple of games, but its lacking in a lot of aspects that make CCGs what they are. If you were experimenting with making a CCG game, then I think this is a great result.
Aug 2 12:21:38 21h 36m All Systems Online ♥ 1 Awesome game! You might want to consider finding a way for players to start reducing the ship's size (maybe by stacking components). The size of my ship got pretty ridiculous after a while and made it pretty hard to manage
Aug 2 12:28:48 7m 10s Blackout ♥ 2 First thing I noticed was the awesome background music. Its nice to see that you had time to compose something and I think it really helped to make this game a lot better that if it was just silent. Having the music slow down and get distorted was a really nice touch and is a great way to provide the player with some feedback on their current status, especially since the game is a little too hectic for me to monitor the health bar. The design of the enemies were great and pretty funny as well. I like how you made the camera move slightly in the direction of the player's movement too. It made moving around feel a lot more dynamic and interesting. Overall an amazing game!
Aug 2 12:50:32 21m 44s Hungry Sky ♥ 1 Movement was kinda irritating but I got used to it and the game was pretty fun. I like how the player's "attacks" are essentially out of control to the player, but are predictable enough to be used effectively. Seems like an interesting concept that I would like to see developed further
Aug 2 13:31:08 40m 36s Space Jam ♥ 0 I really like the short intro cutscene but the rest of the game was too buggy for me. The game keeps freezing and its hard to move around and aim because of the lack of a direction marker
