| Apr 20 10:42:00 | undo todo shmup with wewe | Well, it's a start and the graphics are decent. <br/> <br/>I was confused at first since the arrow keys didn't work for me. Luckily the xbox360's stick moved the character around but I don't think the controls worked quite as they were designed to since the movement was very erratic. | |
| Apr 20 10:44:00 | 2m 00s | Ludum Dare #-6192 | Just as a heads up: this game requires Java runtime. It might be a good idea to mention it on the description. :) |
| Apr 20 10:50:00 | 6m 00s | Space Negotiator! | A pretty well rounded package. The writing is good and the gameplay itself is a neat take on interactive fiction. |
| Apr 20 11:01:00 | 11m 00s | Wordskill | Neat! A very creative puzzle game and fun too. I think a system like this would be very suitable as a mechanic for an adventure game or similar. |
| Apr 20 11:16:00 | 15m 00s | Fruitinator | A solidly executed game with great graphics and good gameplay mechanics! However, the level design felt a little random to me. I think it's mostly that the levels seemed to lack in structure and player guidance, resulting in a somewhat sandbox-ish feel which didn't really match with the level objective IMO. If the objective would have been about resource collection, or some other more open ended task, the levels could have worked better. |
| Apr 20 11:22:00 | 6m 00s | Unconventional Tournament | I guess it's kinda the shtick of the game but the game was extremely confusing when you're thrown into the middle of it all. A tutorial stage (and/or text prints that would tell what a weapon does when it's picked up) might have been helpful. <br/> <br/>It's got a nice amount of content though and the basics do work well: it's just difficult to get hooked on the game since it takes effort to get a good grasp of how it works. :) |
| Apr 20 11:28:00 | 6m 00s | SpaceType | The game quit and I got the following error after pressing N in the main menu (the tutorial worked just fine): <br/>Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: java.util.List.sort(Ljava/util/Comparator;)V <br/> at net.kalinovcic.ld32.GameStage.render(GameStage.java:300) <br/> at net.kalinovcic.ld32.StageManager.render(StageManager.java:18) <br/> at net.kalinovcic.ld32.LD32.main(LD32.java:105) <br/>AL lib: (EE) alc_cleanup: 1 device not closed <br/> <br/>I've got java 1.7.0_45 |
| Apr 20 11:41:00 | 13m 00s | Noodly Appendage | I have to say that the first minute of the game was kinda intimidating since I didn't know the controls or my goal in the game... But after I got over the very beginning, it was a smooth ride. <br/> <br/>The weapon was definitely the high point of the game as it was very intuitive to use. I also found that I was just flailing it around for fun too - not just to kill enemies. I think that's a good indicator of a great video game weapon :) |
| Apr 21 06:03:00 | 18h 22m | Crazy Baker | It's a pretty basic game but the graphics and audio are good. It could've been fun but the sluggy controls make the game somewhat cumbersome to play. |
| Apr 21 06:33:00 | 30m 00s | Freeze Ray | This game was quite fun! I was actually compelled to play through the whole game which isn't all that common with LD games. :) <br/> <br/>Although the controls were a little bit floaty, they felt precise enough for a hardcore platformer like this. However, once I discovered that you can keep re-freezing enemies while you keep on standing on them, the game got a little too easy. |
| Apr 21 06:40:00 | 7m 00s | Safer in the Dark | A very moody game and I like the visuals (the LOS effect in particular) and the audio really enhances the mood! :) <br/> <br/>While I have to admit it's cool as a concept, the core mechanic of closing the eyes doesn't really add to the overall fun of the game IMO. When the best tactic is memorizing the level and then wandering around blindly, the experience is more frustrating than it is rewarding. |
| Apr 21 06:50:00 | 10m 00s | Ginosaji - The Game | It's a cool idea but the game itself felt a little half-cooked. Just as an example, there was little reason for the player to move around the map: generally the best tactic seemed to be to camp in the lower level and just spam spoons which wasn't much fun. If there would be, for example, collectible fork or even knife powerups or something, you would have to move around the level more and make choices (confronting the player with difficult choices is of essence in game design!) between going after a victim or trying to fetch a powerup. <br/> <br/>Keep working on more games, you're off to a good start! |
| Apr 21 07:19:00 | 29m 00s | Commit Racer | The effect from smashing the cubes was so rewarding! The biggest annoyance in the game IMO was that the ship was blocking the view but other than that, the game was good, simple fun. :) |
| Apr 21 07:28:00 | 9m 00s | Crossy Hell | The graphics (the movement and the models and the satisfying little explosions!) and the audio is top notch but man, I can't wrap my head around the controls. I have to first look on the road, then on the GUI and then on the keyboard to press the right key and the process just wears me out so quickly. <br/> <br/>Maybe with enough practice it would get better but the gameplay initially is so cumbersome it's not gonna be easy. :( |
| Apr 21 07:36:00 | 8m 00s | Soul Shutter | A great idea and nicely executed. The environments in particular were impressive! <br/> <br/>The biggest enhancement to the game would have been some spooky music to fill in some of the quiet moments but other than that, the game accomplishes very well what it set out to do! |
| Apr 21 07:43:00 | 7m 00s | Eyes that Fry | I had a second cyborg walking around on my game (windows standalone). Seemed like a bug since it was constantly blocking me from shooting. :/ <br/> <br/>The music and sfx were top notch and it's always a nice surprise to see LD games with animated characters! |
| Apr 21 07:52:00 | 9m 00s | Super Cold Revenge | Man, it's hard to keep alive for more than 10 seconds in the game. It seems like the amount of skulls in the beginning keeps on accumulating after every restart and the somewhat unresponsive shooting controls don't help here. The graphics and presentation are good but I feel like the gameplay issues at the moment are sucking away the fun I could have with the game :( |
| Apr 21 08:04:00 | 12m 00s | Not My Panties! | While the gameplay felt solid and instantly familiar, the mechanics themselves were kind of opaque so I was just picking different attacks and specials randomly without an idea on what could be a good move right now. A little more info on what each move would do would have really added a layer of strategy and fun here. <br/> <br/>The style or the subject matter are not really my thing so I won't comment on them too much. :) |
| Apr 21 08:13:00 | 9m 00s | iRevolution | Aw, got executed brutally by the tank. :( <br/> <br/>It's a neat idea and the presentation is very stylish. The gameplay had great promise but it was a little fiddly in practice though: converting people felt a little bit too difficult and random at times so it felt that you didn't have many options - just press convert when someone's in your close range and use the other abilities once they become available. |
| Apr 21 08:31:00 | 18m 00s | Bad Service Cafe | Well, the game had its share of bugs and the feedback on what was going on was rather weak. I'd suggest trying a more simple game idea next time. :) |
| Apr 21 08:36:00 | 5m 00s | Chemtrail Madness | At its core, the idea was great and the game was solidly built but there was still something missing to make it more fun and challenging. |
| Apr 21 12:36:00 | 4h 00m | Time Orb | The game put up a good challenge, backed with graphics and audio that suited the game very well. The platforming was kinda frustrating though since the controls seemed to lack this good balance between laser-sharp precision and relaxed, forgiving collisions that are essential for a good platformer. |
| Apr 21 12:45:00 | 9m 00s | FormulaBlaster | Yeah, a more gentle learning curve would have been beneficial. You could hold off for a while before even showing the player all the information there is. Like for example, reveal the variables (and the related help text) for the variables only once you would need that etc. :) |
| Apr 21 12:54:00 | 9m 00s | Llamaism | What a weird little game. Obviously unfinished but at least the writing was quite entertaining. :) |
| Apr 21 13:23:00 | 29m 00s | Dezinformatsiya | The theme and setting of the game are excellent and quite topical too! ;) <br/> <br/>Better feedback from the actions were something I wished for while playing. As it is, the game mostly felt like a series of random dice rolls where my actual choice of action didn't seem to matter that much, as long as I did something. <br/> <br/>Nevertheless, the writing was very entertaining and I'd like to see how this game would play if the obvious issues were to be fixed. There's definitely potential here! :) |
| Apr 21 13:29:00 | 6m 00s | PANIC★PARTY | I can see this as being fun but, like you said, it's still seriously half-baked as a game. :) |
| Apr 21 13:36:00 | 7m 00s | Floats | It's a great game, packed with style but I'm afraid my stamina to complete the game ran out when I realized there's no checkpoints. I would've loved to play it more though. <br/> <br/>Oh, and one neat little detail I really liked about the game is the typography. :) |
| Apr 21 13:53:00 | 17m 00s | Good Grandpa Simulator | I'm kinda torn on this one since I usually appreciate quick and precise character controls on sidescrollers but having those would hardly fit the idea of this game, so I'll cut you some slack there :) <br/> <br/>Other than that, it's a very funny game with pretty decent graphics and sound. Good job! |
| Apr 21 14:04:00 | 11m 00s | Skyku | It's a great idea but I don't this this game is really for me, although it could be mostly because I'm not a native English speaker so counting out the syllables can be a chore. <br/> <br/>Nevertheless, the presentation of the game is very well put together with a suitably space-y soundtrack :) |
| Apr 21 14:14:00 | 10m 00s | World of Hammers | It's a cool little game and the core mechanic is really solid but I think some more variety, both in enemies and player powerups, would give this game much more longevity and bring some more interesting challenges into the mix. It's a nice game though, all you need now is some spice! :) |
| Apr 21 14:21:00 | 7m 00s | Night Harvest | The foundation is there but I think the game would definitely benefit from a good measure of spice, variety and bug fixes. |
| Apr 22 05:46:00 | 15h 25m | The Hoverboard Convention | The gameplay and presentation is very solid although this could benefit greatly from a little bit more balancing to get the challenge level just right. The weapons were very strongly biased towards using the special attacks and the randomness in a level's challenge seemed to vary quite wildly. The camera view also felt a little claustrophobic. <br/> <br/>Nevertheless, it's a fun little timewaster that I'd gladly play again if the rough edges would be smoothed out somewhat. |
| Apr 22 05:57:00 | 11m 00s | Trojan Horse Simulator: The Art of Subterfuge | It took me a while to get the hang of the controls but after that the game was loads of fun! It's hilarious too. <br/> <br/>I'd appreciate it though if the game would be comprised of stages of increasing difficulty (with the first one being stupidly easy) since as a stupid player, I crave the feeling of immediate satisfaction and reward. :D <br/> <br/>Nevertheless, this is the most addictive game on this Ludum Dare that I've tried this far! |
