Apr 30 10:42:00 Spring We were looking forward to another hilarious point-and-click adventure by you guys, it's a shame it wasn't finished in time! Too ambitious?
May 6 08:59:00 142h 17m Cube Colors Some nice ideas here and sticks to the minimalism theme well on all fronts, with catchy chiptune background music and straightforward graphics. Liked playing it but got a bit stuck after a while of wandering about.
May 6 09:00:00 1m 00s Minimal Race A good effort that could perhaps be seen as a minimalist deconstruction of endless runners popular on mobile platforms. You can dodge and collect and you always lose! In need of a bit more player influence in the game to make it more involved though. I liked the little guy in the car!
May 6 09:01:00 1m 00s Hukaire Interesting game, I liked the imagination invoked by being text-only. Felt like the arena was a little too large. Didn't understand why I lost - it said I killed a monster and immediately after that I died.
May 6 09:01:00 0s Blind Great idea for a minimal game, fitting the theme brilliantly. Enjoyed sitting there with my eyes shut and fumbling my way around the maze. Good work.
May 6 09:02:00 1m 00s Controlled State Excellent job. Nice audio, stuck to the theme well, rather haunting in tone and mood. Makes you think. Liked the choice aspect.
May 6 09:03:00 1m 00s Chroma Fun and twisty game, hurts my head a bit! Liked the graphical style inspiration and trying and failing to skillfully bounce everywhere.
May 6 09:04:00 1m 00s Tech Troop Tim's Big Pay Day Fun game that makes me want to cross my eyes or bat them back and forth. An interesting idea, and cool having a high score table built in.
May 6 17:29:00 8h 25m Abstract This is great! I like how relaxing it is to click and create paintings, and the background music really helps with the atmosphere. It's good that the colours are chosen randomly, otherwise it would require too much thinking and not as much "inspiration". One bug I noticed was that sometimes the prices change as you click buttons, before they disappear, possibly as a result of your fame changing?
May 10 18:47:00 97h 18m Go To Work (a Point and Click game) It seemed like a good dystopian world, but I just couldn't get into it because of the bugs and interface problems. A couple of little bugs being fixed would help no end - I had problems with control focus on the window which made my keypresses stop working after getting the store key. You check for mouse clicks, but not for mouse drags, so you don't pick up clicks unless you have your mouse stationary, which is frustrating. Using both the keyboard and mouse seems unnecessary, I would just use the mouse for everything, and use right click for interaction and picking up, with buttons on the side of the screen to move between scenes. I realise these problems are all due to rushing to get the framework finished, so it's not surprising.
May 10 18:47:00 0s SQUARE The game involves your robot jumping up to find the missing pixel from the 3d image, and I liked the splash screen with music, the 3d graphics and the robot animation. Unfortunately the gameplay is unfinished - there's only really one level, and you're able to simply jump infinitely in mid-air and complete the game in 10 seconds. Craftstudio seems like a good way to enter ludum dare though. I get the feeling that the developers just ran out of time before they could build a set of levels. The splash screen says "Press start to begin", but the end level screen says press enter.
May 10 18:48:00 1m 00s Peacemaker Very interesting example of a horror adventure - I like how the plot slowly unfolded. The tech was nice, the dialogue well written, and the gameplay good. It's a shame you ran out of time for audio. The branching was really great. I died a few times but got the good ending eventually :P I was left wanting more, which is a good thing. The use of filtered photos gave a nice consistent art style.
May 10 18:50:00 2m 00s Psyniter Fun game - I liked the audio a lot. We had the same idea of using a guitar for all the sounds :P The background wave effect was very cool and the upgrades were good - though I wasn't sure what they all did. The music powerup was the best :) I didn't realise until half way through that right click was shoot, which made the air blast enemies impossible to get past. All in all though, very good work.
May 10 18:51:00 1m 00s Minimal Win *Proof of Concept* Unfortunately, this game is quite obviously unfinished. The exe didn't run on my windows machine, so I just ran the jar. The idea seems interesting - a randomly generated platformer with physics and realistic lighting. The shadow effect was impressive.
May 10 18:51:00 0s Choose Defense (TD) I liked the silliness of the game, but I had issues with the interface when trying to place towers. I managed to place a few laser towers, but after the first level I could no longer place anything. With some more work it could be quite a charming tower defense game. Could do with some audio too.
May 10 18:53:00 2m 00s ShiftWorld I love the art! The animation on the running guy and the hand drawn backgrounds are really excellent. The gameplay is a nice twist on the Canabalt run and jump formula, though it needs significant tweaking to get it to flow as freely. The weapon projectile should travel faster, the jumping should be more forgiving, and the movement could be faster (with no need to choose between slow and fast). The game is very short and could do with audio. The intro screens and general game art are fantastic though, and you should be proud.
May 10 18:54:00 1m 00s Laeser The arcade game style was effective, and the game was well paced. I felt like the weapon was too weak - it would be good if you got some upgrades. I'm glad you had retro sound effects, but some chip-tune music would have been nice :) All in all, it's a simple game, but it does what it says on the tin - plus you could shoot potatoes! Always good in my book!
May 10 18:56:00 2m 00s please survive Pretty cool game with good flowing gameplay. I liked how you had to pick your targets, and how the level became more and more crowded. Could seriously do with some thumping soundtrack and retro sound effects. The console style intro sequence was neat and the tech was impressive. Could be fleshed out to have some way of winning (reach a time limit?) and some extra levels with different colour themes, so as an idea it certainly has potential.
May 10 18:56:00 0s Stargazers Charming and sweet little game. Could do with a longer music loop in the menu, but that's pretty much the only flaw in this game. The art is great, it has funny references, the audio is good quality, and the gameplay is solid (that it calculates a percentage accuracy is clever). Although simple, it is completely polished and could easily go straight onto a flash portal as it is. The only thing I would add is more levels, and probably a new mechanic or two to extend the gameplay a bit. I haven't got many ideas off the top of my head - maybe if the drawing was more freeform rather than joint-the-dots in later levels, or if you had to spot between a few different constellations in the same set of stars.
May 15 21:30:00 122h 34m Sequence Initiated I like the idea of having to discover how to initiate each sequence based on some sort of feedback, but the game ends before any of the puzzle possibilities have been realised. The graphics were clean and functional. With some music and some puzzles, this could be a lot of fun.
May 15 21:31:00 1m 00s The Prospector It took me a little while to figure out what was going on, but once I got the hang of it (thanks to rollovers) I enjoyed it. I cruised through most of the levels, so much so that I started to get a bit bored, but then the difficulty suddenly ramped up in level 9 (It seems the levels are random, I don't know if it's possible to win). The gameplay is good, and I appreciated the audio. If you intend to expand on this idea, I'd add some more tiles that get introduced over time, and maybe some story or extra puzzles of some kind. All in all though, a very impressive effect for 1 person in 48 hours! Also, the graphics were lovely!
May 15 21:34:00 3m 00s Iceberg Explorer I found this game quite relaxing. It was fun to jump around and search for stuff. The minimap made it feel a bit easy, but it was the only way of knowing you'd found everything so that was good. The game was short and sweet, and I liked the potato gag :) I played on windows and didn't have any issues.
May 15 21:34:00 0s MinimizeArt This game was pretty funny, I liked the writing and the style of it. The spotting was unforgiving, but the game was short enough that it didn't make it onerous. The downloaded jar worked for me, but not the web applet version. Maybe that's just me. I only found a single sound effect in the menu. Some pink panther style spy music would add a lot to the comedy of the game. For 48 hours though, a very coherent and complete entry.
May 15 21:37:00 3m 00s Minimal Deathmatch A functional twin stick style shooter. With some tweaking could be more compelling, but as it is I got bored after a few minutes of kiting the enemies around. Ramping up the difficulty more quickly as well as making the bullets, player and enemies faster would help. I realise it's minimalistic, but games like this need to be "juicy" and give a lot of feedback to feel rewarding - explosions, satisfying sounds, score numbers flying off... The music loop could do with being longer.
May 15 21:38:00 1m 00s Illumbox I managed to get a score of 7600. I could have probably played a bit longer but I felt like I'd seen all there was to see. Other games to rate and all that :P The lighting on the shapes was excellent, the font choice was good, and it had a nice clean aesthetic. The music was sweet and very chill. As others seem to have commented, at the start you expect it to be a continuing corridor upwards, where you use the shadows to predict where to go, but then it quickly devolves to dodging shapes endlessly encroaching from the sides. I feel like there's something in this idea though.
May 15 21:39:00 1m 00s energized It took me a while to figure out what was going on (i.e. reading the entry page :P) but once I understood it, the game was easy to complete (there only seems to be one level?). It was good to have sound, but there really needs to be more feedback as to your power level, and that you're providing power to the doors.
May 17 12:11:00 38h 32m Phlux Brilliant stuff, very well done. Could tell I liked it by how upset I was that there weren't more levels to play! ;) Fits the theme well, nice music, sound, and presentation. Teaches itself well without holding your hand too long and leaves itself open to puzzleyness. Great!
May 17 12:12:00 1m 00s Super Mondria Brothers Very odd hyper speed exploration game. I liked the sound effects, but couldn't find a goal.
May 17 12:13:00 1m 00s minimal graphics Interesting idea but felt like mashing buttons was the optimal strategy. Without that, it felt very slow paced.
May 17 12:15:00 2m 00s With The Wind Fits the theme well but doesn't seem to be anything much to do other then move away from the wall until the wind decides you aren't allowed to any more.
May 17 12:16:00 1m 00s Desire Well put together, fits the theme well, good music. Very unsettling/creepy as well!
May 17 12:16:00 0s The Simple Clicker Game Amusing for some reason. I liked the random text for each click. Important: if you read this review this review will be read! Also, thank you for making a jar file I can just click to play. Lots of java games submitted to LD are really hard to get running. :)
May 17 12:17:00 1m 00s Broken Sat-Nav, 3:12AM, 3013 Interesting control scheme, and fits the theme well. Wasn't clear why I died sometimes.
May 19 19:17:00 55h 00m <Insert Title Here> This is a fun little game! I found the controls a little imprecise, sometimes it felt like the square wasn't changing direction as quickly as I'd like, or kept travelling when I'd stopped pressing keys. Also the squares sometimes get stuck colliding with the edges.
May 19 19:25:00 8m 00s Minimal Run The web version worked for me! (Windows 7, Chrome) It's a good idea, but very difficult! Once you are travelling the wrong direction, there is not a lot of opportunity to correct yourself other than restarting. I couldn't get past level 3
May 19 19:35:00 10m 00s BlockBall A fun idea! It's simple and quickly replayable, which is good to keep me coming back to try again. It is quite a strain on the clicking-finger though!
May 19 19:49:00 14m 00s BloxMin - by Lody - Ludum Dare 26 It's quite entertaining to follow the clues and find the blocks, but I wondered if it could be improved with a little challenge. Perhaps a time limit, or a penalty for moving onto blocks that have already been found?
