| Aug 27 00:04:00 | Good Morning World! | Hm, there doesn't seem to be a download link here. | |
| Aug 27 08:29:00 | 8h 25m | Cat Evolution! | Hey, it's pretty nice, and fun to play, once you get the hang of it! I beat it pretty easily. <br/> <br/>A thing that I believe would improve the game, requiring more thought on the player's side would be allowing the re-positioning of player owned monoliths between rounds. <br/> <br/>I really liked the small touches to the interface, like mapping the monoliths to asdf...; also, is it intentional that once you place a monolith you can't move it? (I mean even before actually starting the round) I tend to misclick a lot :P <br/> <br/>I liked the ending story, it was pretty nice. <br/> <br/>Also, you might want to fix the typos in the game (you're cats and they're cats). :P |
| Aug 27 08:37:00 | 8m 00s | Besugo | Hey, I played it for a little, and it took me a while to figure out I had to click the other fish to attack them and I didn't eat them automatically (like in other similar games). <br/> <br/>It would also be nice to have a little intro screen or something. Also, at the end, I reached max level and got a message, but couldn't read it because I was near the surface and the text was white on a really-light-blue background. :( <br/> <br/>It would be nice to see more variation in edible fish - perhaps procedurally-generated ones! :D |
| Aug 27 08:42:00 | 5m 00s | Cellception | I liked the feel! Could go with a menu or something at the beginning. It showed me as dead when the game was finished loading. <br/> <br/>Also, at the very beginning it can be somewhat laggy, maybe some optimizations could be done? Dunno. Core i5 4gb ram windows 7 x64 user with Chrome here. |
| Aug 27 08:45:00 | 3m 00s | Microraptor | I've always seen this happen to 3d games... IMHO 3d assets take way too much time for such a short competition. I'd love to see you work on this game after LD. It could turn into something really solid! |
| Aug 27 08:52:00 | 7m 00s | Genetics-Pop | I couldn't really beat it... :( <br/>The thing is, even with the info, I couldn't really figure out the best way to play the game. How do you switch between the two awkward cell colors? You should allow something like rightclick or scrolling to do it. <br/> <br/>Also it would be nice if you could click on the game over screen to restart, instead of having to press a key. |
| Aug 27 08:55:00 | 3m 00s | Darwin's Odyssey | Pretty nice, but as I said in the blog post comments, it felt a tad disappointing when I got "demoted" back to a mele sword when I evolved to the 3rd stage. :( |
| Aug 27 09:06:00 | 11m 00s | Hot Damn that's a Lot of Blobs! | I liked this, and I felt drawn into the world. <br/>I beat the game. Like a coward. Hm, well, I guess old Minecraft instincts die hard. :D <br/> <br/>You should maybe add a way to, for instance, make or get weapons, so that you can actually fight the blobs, instead of digging under, building a bridge above, or herding them in some fashion. |
| Aug 27 10:07:00 | 1h 01m | Super Robocade | Nice and polished, I really enjoyed it! <br/>I got 6430! :D <br/>It feels really nice and cozy! |
| Aug 27 10:34:00 | 27m 00s | Literally; Earth Shaping | You can't expect a .sh to be double-clickable on Windows, now do you? :P Try making playWindows.sh -> playWindows.bat, and have it have this code iniside: <br/> <br/>java -Djava.library.path=lib/windows -jar LD24Game.jar <br/> <br/>(The old version couldn't run on win, and wrongly pointed to the osx libraries anyway) <br/> <br/>Now, time for the actual game - I couldn't really figure out what to do. I messed around for a while, but couldn't really figure out what all the buttons did, even in the tutorial. I finally figured out that they toggle between views after viewing the debug log. :P |
| Aug 27 11:46:00 | 1h 12m | Move the Cheese | Haha, pretty awesome, I liked the variation in items! You could also post a raw-exe + assets zip for those of us who already have XNA redist! ;) <br/> <br/>Though I don't really see how this is related to the theme... |
| Aug 27 11:50:00 | 4m 00s | Adversity | You should at least provide a built version or something for people that don't have ruby installed, or can't/don't know how to use the command line. <br/> <br/>Also, I get the same error as Bemmu - windows, cygwin ruby 1.8.7 |
| Aug 27 11:54:00 | 4m 00s | A Matter of L and D | Yeah, it was a bit overwhelming, and I couldn't really follow what affected what. The game felt a bit confusing to me. |
| Aug 29 10:19:00 | 46h 25m | Species Hunt | I liked it, although it felt a bit boring. Adding something like popup text after taking a photo telling you how many points you got and how many birds you caught could make things more interesting. <br/> <br/>Also, whenever I looked straight up, the camera view glitched a bit and a bit of the skybox got clipped and replaced with a plain green color. <br/> <br/>Also, I appreciated the fact that you could actually see your body when looking down! :D |
| Aug 29 10:25:00 | 6m 00s | Battle Arena Evolution! | The game was fun, but felt a bit too easy. Adding some auxiliary attacks based on what your (for instance) head looks like could increase the variety, maybe. |
| Aug 29 10:43:00 | 18m 00s | The Adventures of Box Man | Okay, I really enjoyed playing this! :D <br/>I especially liked the ground that spawned enemies when you walked across it, as well as the plants that you needed to "taunt" in order to make them grow. <br/> <br/>I also liked the music, and the controls were nice. <br/> <br/>What I didn't like was the fact that all enemies suddenly evolved, without warning. I got killed like this *a lot* of times, when an enemy spontaneously grew when I was jumping over it. Some flashing or shaking would really work to warn the player that the enemy is about to evolve, IMHO. <br/> <br/>Also, the enemies were a tad odd, in that they behaved kind of randomly, smoothly bouncing along. Some more variation in that, as well as tighter movement could be nice. |
| Aug 29 10:48:00 | 5m 00s | Eggplant farm | The game is interesting, but you shouldn't have to go through the intro every time you lose and want to restart... :( |
| Aug 29 11:57:00 | 1h 09m | Beetlefield : The Forecast | Really, really fun! :D I enjoy this type of game so much! Well done - incredibly polished, even for a regular game developed in a month or so! I liked the AI a lot! I would really enjoy reading a post-mortem or something describing some of the game's technical details! |
| Aug 29 12:03:00 | 6m 00s | Pimp my Rat ! | First off, why 87 Mb? Could the assets really not be compressed further? <br/> <br/>The platforming was pretty bad and sluggish, the graphics were glitchy, the game kept jittering in an odd fashion and the level graphics weren't too polished, and kind of clashed with the rest of the style. |
| Aug 29 13:29:00 | 1h 26m | Forward | I liked the first part the most, by far! |
| Aug 31 15:04:00 | 49h 35m | Cytosine | I think stuff like abilities and new enemy weapons/ sizes could really show off the evolution better, but I liked the way the enemies "learned" things nevertheless! |
| Aug 31 15:14:00 | 10m 00s | Manual Population Control | A game with such non-intuitive mechanics should really have some sort of built in explanations, even in the shape of tooltips! <br/> <br/>The game looks solid and polished, though. Nice work on that! |
| Aug 31 15:16:00 | 2m 00s | Alivolv | :( A bit too confusing trying to do several things at once - getting used to the controls and dodging the shots, shooting back, *and* stomping buildings... I liked the graphical style, though! |
| Aug 31 15:56:00 | 40m 00s | EvoProbe | I really liked this puzzle game! The only thing I disliked, was randomly getting bonus stuff to place - I wanted to place a spore and ended up placing something evolved. I can't tell if it's a bug or a bonus, it ended up being annoying rather than helping. All in all, a really nice game , one of the best I've played so far! :D |
| Aug 31 16:01:00 | 5m 00s | Evu for life | Pretty basic, straightforward platformer. The backgrounds were a tad distracting, though... |
| Aug 31 16:29:00 | 28m 00s | Lab Experiment Demo | I liked the initial puzzle really, really much! Brilliant! :D But the buggy platforming made me sad :( |
| Aug 31 21:31:00 | 5h 02m | StarwingZ | Pretty nice! I feel like this could use a post-LD version with some sort of scoring system, as well as maybe some upgrades. |
| Aug 31 22:16:00 | 45m 00s | Strike of Rage ! | Really awesome! It's a bit annoying since there aren't no checkpoints, but you shouldn't make it too easy either. I liked it! |
| Sep 1 09:03:00 | 10h 47m | The Darwinci Code - Adaption FTW! | A really nice and rather intuitive minigame! I liked it! There is a small bug, however - whenever a new level starts, the game doesn't rate your hidden rating at the starting position, apparently. It's not a big thing, but I thought I'd mention it! :D |
