LD59 — Signal

SYNCROBAN by Flatgub 2026-04-21T08:23:38Z

A really neat sokoban puzzler! All levels are clever and solving them feels rewarding. The concept shows some potential for expanding (totally not biased because I've came up with a similar mechanic for my game). Graphics are charming, although I spent a long time misreading the robot's hands on the side view as duck lips :D The only downside is controls. It took a really long time just to get used to them. Also, I wish there was an Undo button. Overall, I enjoyed the game a lot!!

The Sound Store by Jejkobb 2026-04-24T18:02:23Z

A nice game with cute art! Complex signals were too much for me though :( One thing I'd like to address is that knobs felt a bit unintuitive to scroll, took me a bit to realize that I could simply drag mouse up/down. Also, attaching the modulator to the lower slot always took me a few attempts. It's like USB in a way, you just can't plug it in on the first try :D

Jim's Quest for Birthday present by Sobigdrasil 2026-04-22T15:09:56Z

A cute game with a really charming art style! I wish I was as cheerful as Jim to discover all sorts of junk on the beach...

A really moody game, I really enjoyed the vibes. It reminded me of my weird childhood, specifically tickles some 'creepy' memories of the past. The music is perfect, also I'm a real fan of the clip-art usage. Gameplay felt a bit wonky, though, but I managed to finish the game in a few tries. Good job!

Digital Squirm Processing by GuyUnger 2026-04-23T18:43:30Z

thank you, Mr Sinemon, now I can finally compose Megalovania xD

if you plan to expand on this, a sandbox mode would be great!

Robo Island by JoeShanahan 2026-04-21T21:44:27Z

An addicting resource management type game. The core mechanic is pretty unique, reminds me of Amalgamate by sunil. I think it has some potential!

The game didn't feel really difficult, and even having a limited amount of tiles didn't restrict me that much. (I can't even recall what happens if there is not enough room for new resources. Bots simply stop working?...) Maybe some kind of an 'enemy' could have helped with increasing the difficulty. The UX is great, merging felt satisfying, my only complaint is that sometimes the bot UI overlapped with the tile I wanted it to move towards, so I couldn't click on it.

Also, it took me an embarassing amount of time to understand what I should do to even begin playing :D I assumed I had to drag the tiles on top of each other to merge them, not move them next to each other. But after I got it, I didn't encounter any other difficulties, so even a little tutorial on how to merge things would go a long way.

Overall, I had a good time with this game. Great job!

-so there's that crazy girl that beat me up, so watch out for her

*finds brass knuckles immediately after that* oh no.

A very immersive game with a great atmosphere. I'm not really a fan of 3d games as I easily get lost in three-dimensional spaces, but this one was great, probably thanks to the fixed camera. The artwork is really charming, both 2d and 3d. My favorite characters are the grandpa we play as and that crazy girl with brass knuckles. Dialogues are bizzare, but in a good way, like the characters keep finding themselves in weird situations but describe them as if it's an average Thursday for them.

Some characters appear stretched out in the dialogue UI and I kept clipping through the environment, but that's just nitpicking. Also, when I played for the first time, I didn't notice the health bar and assumed that I should be afraid of skiers more than falling trees as they are so dangerous they insta-kill you. :D

Drop da Myc by Kr0tyara 2026-04-21T09:42:22Z

@shanyu-jin maybe using water for 'empty tiles' was counter-intuitive on my part, but island borders act as walls. use them to your advantage!

There's also an option to skip level in the settings menu. ;)

Pardon my Alienese by MatthewLevy 2026-04-26T13:14:23Z

Guys, I think we need to cancel Khago Balekte... He's an alien racist.

Jokes aside, a really fun game with an interesting idea! Had a small issue: sometimes rules contradicted each other, for example: there could be rules about pixelating and cutting off the broadcast for the same gesture, and if you follow the latter, it's considered wrong.

If you plan to expand on this, I have some ideas: what if 'baby mode' was on by default, but as the game progresses, it would start returning false positives sometimes? If you are not attentive enough, you lose money. Or sometimes subtitles could go off and you have to only rely on your eyes and ears. Or the censoring panel breaks and you have to do something creative to censor the broadcast, like say something out loud or throw a blanket on Khago. There's a lot of potential!

Nest, this is Pilgrim by Nozomu57 2026-04-21T09:20:41Z

A really touching story. It is really, really great, I almost cried. Everything feels really polished, I especially enjoyed the music. The gameplay is pretty good, but I had to skip a couple of segments where you catch the signal with your cursor. This is my favourite games in this jam so far.

Islandia by Derek Glennon 2026-04-23T17:36:46Z

very silly and charming! the style kind of reminds me of old edutainment games. wish I could give the beach ball to the shark :D
