LD44 — Your life is currency

Blood Pressure by superpokeunicorn 2019-04-30T14:07:45Z

Haha I love this. Very nicely made. I like the downwell-y vibes to it and the blood idea was really funny. Really cool with the texture change too.

I do feel that the game slightly missed the theme. It's more "Life **and** Currency" than "Life **is** Currency". Since the blood is basically ammo and the coins are the win condition.

And as a sidenote, I think it would have been absolutely hilarious if the little dudes also got splattered by the blood like the floor does. But I figure that might be hard to make. You're swapping the sprites, right? It's not a shader I guess?

I could see this as a small indie release. The package is pretty solid as it is. With some polish and stuff, it could really be something.

I always find these space flyer games to be a lot of fun. Thought the same about this one. Very nice movement and I really like the look of the game as well.

Would have liked the game to be switched up from time to time. The gameplay gets a bit stale after a while. I also don't quite agree with the design of the power up room. If the players has to read text and also make a choice fast, the player will miss stuff.

Instead I think it would have been better with simple power ups that are self explanatory within it's graphics. Like a rocket for speed or whatever. And then the player can have a constant speed within the power-up-room to the right and also able to control the ship a bit. That way you have some challenge but at the same time stuff is clear without needing text.

Hahaha the way the dudes freak out really cracked me up. The idea behind this I think works kinda well. With some time for polish and stuff I could see this being something.

I was a bit confused as to how to play this properly, took me a while. I found myself messing about quite a bit and I'm not too sure about the movement decision. Perhaps it would have been a bit more intuitive with WASD+Mouse or click to move?

Either way, it's a very funny entry! Great job :)

The graphics was really eye catching and set a mood which I find to be rare in jams. Great work! It felt pretty dang polished and I enjoyed the sounds too.

I think the gameplay would have been a bit more tight with a camera not scrolling in X. So that you can have your eyes on the action at all times. And my first reaction to the shooting was that it felt a bit limiting to only be able to shoot up when you can move in all directions. The player probably buys into that shoot mechanic if you can only move from right to left like an Arkenoid game.

And a side note (and it's rather nitpicky cuz I'm an artist lol), a pixel perfect camera would have been really nice for this project. Especially when the art was so well crafted. There's a bit of flickering and stuff. Not sure what this was made in but - Unity has a camera like this now. Might be cool to check out for future games :)

Overall a really nice game. Great job guys!

Woodland Warfare by Kichex 2019-04-30T13:12:47Z

I think the game looks really beautiful and has promise. My only gripe is that it took me a while to understand how to play it. However, with the time given I understand it's difficult to make stuff like tutorials :) I could see this being a really polished title with more time, ai and different environments. Maybe kinda like a Might Of Magic game?

Adepts of Virgil by Yursa 2019-04-30T13:50:20Z

Very interesting to say the least. I think it set a good mood and the setting suited the theme. Even though I understand that controlling the dudes is the challenge, I found it to be a bit too floaty and unpredictable. Since they move more than you expect them to, you end up guessing a lot.

That feedback aside, I could really see this as a final game. It has my gears turning about how you could design different kinds of scenarios and stuff. Like maybe some of the guys you control have different temperaments and pushes others aside to survive, but they are strong so they can push rocks. Something like that. I also think this game might have been better as sort of a RTS like Lemmings or something.

It has a lot of promise and my guess is that you guys have been fantasizing about what it could have been with more work too :)

Great entry :)

Snek Farm by t3nshi 2019-04-30T16:42:45Z

All be it an obvious snake game but a very fun take on it. I really loved the graphics and the charm to this game. Smart idea with the trail sprites too. Very polished and well put together jam game!

Great work guys :)

Piggy Bank by Ryano 2019-04-30T13:04:09Z

Really cute! It was really challenging and suited the theme well. I did get slightly motion sick from the pan in the beginning, I think a zoom out and a circle around the bank might have been less intense. But other than that it was a really nice experience :)
