I think it was a bit too frustrating, very confusing, and the special power didn't seem very consistent (it didn't launch every time I let go of the button).
I've actually though of the same idea too (making of game of Civ's exploration phase, which in my opinion is the best part of the game), but haven't landed on a solid concept yet.
I think the general concept works, but the symbols are not clear enough, so it's too easy to get killed by accident.

This game blew my mind. And the music blew my ears (they still bleed)
And I think you're on to something with this fake-voxel-retro artstyle :)
The Europa Arcology Incident by Notch
They interface was a bit clumsy, but otherwise great work! I kind of enjoyed the art style too.
Little Worlds 4k by Morre
I really like the concept, and the art works really well, even if it is very simple. With some polish it'll be a nice little game.

Legacy of HYDON by Arne
The art was spectacular, but it seemed the game really wasn't there. With small improvements could have been really good.
Hole Jump by Alex
Fun and all, but not very much exploration. Nor that much gameplay either.
Cubees: Age of Exploration by Tempest
I still think the core gameplay is very solid, but the game does lack a feeling of progression.
I like the overall art style, but the avatars don't mesh with it all too well.
Overall, well done!

Hah, the first sentence of the description would fit my game perfectly too :D
Nice game, I like the touch effect too, although it could benefit from clearer goals.
