LD46 — Keep it alive

Space Jelly Factory by Taldius 2020-04-21T16:30:58Z

This was really fun - it's fast paced and just the right level of complexity to be challenging but no overwhelming. The graphics and music are spot on. A really excellent game.

I like the graphical style. The directions of the controls being misaligned by 45 degrees was _really_ confusing. Made it extremely difficult to enjoy the game. A warning that you can only hold one type of thing in your hand at once would also be helpful.

I _loved_ music. Laughed out loud when it started playing on game load. A little spammy as others have said but really rather fun to play and really well put together.

Perhaps a penalty for harvesting crops too early or just remove the action key; if an action is possible then it is triggered.

I'm using a QWERTY layout and WASD worked for me - was only confused for a little by the documentation. It's a fun, quick game to play and a nice twist on the tradition asteroid game. It felt like the rate energy is used speeds up far too rapidly, effectively making the best strategy to _never_ move.

This is a beautiful game. It really reminds me of some of my favourite mood based games: subtle, understated yet powerful. You've made something really beautiful. :blue_heart:

Lamps by qkjosh 2020-05-02T13:33:28Z

The mood of this game is wonderful. I agree with @hgcummings that more variation in the interior would prevent players from feeling like they are going in circles.

The significance of the lamp duration was also lost on me - I _thought_ it was related to how bright my own light was. I think some sort of audio queue to indicate getting warmer (a pleasant, soothing sound) and cooler (a harsher, less pleasant sound) would subtly reinforce the hint.

The overall atmosphere is still really well created. I really enjoyed playing it.

I loved the fall animation. Some feedback during food preparation would have been really helpful. The eyeball looking through the window was a lovely touch. Good job. :-)

Mission Impoppable by Matt Lewis 2020-05-02T13:11:20Z

I love the idea. I love the humour. I love music. I find this _so_ difficult to play.

Thank you everyone for your lovely comments. We really enjoyed making the game and we are really appreciative of your positive comments and constructive advice. Knowing that we've created something that actually

I'm going to comment specifically on a couple of things:

*Performance* If the game is too laggy try "Low" quality mode. It doesn't look as good but it should be more responsive. We know performance is an issue and will try to fix this if we keep enhancing the game.

*Tools & Effects* We had so many ideas for other mechanisms that we just couldn't get into the game in the time available. We had to focus on ensuring what we had was a playable game. If we come to enhancing it we definitely will be adding more features to help make the game a little less spammy.

@arcus I was being a _little_ cheesy reinforcing the theme - putting our finishing touches in place in the middle of the night was not ideal.

@tudvari There was a constant tension between realism and pragmatism as we developed the game. We had to be very pragmatic because of time constraints. I expect if we'd had longer we could have improved realism without compromising playability.

@joule I, personally, take full responsibility for the state of the UI. I am still very glad you enjoyed playing it!

This is a really fun game. It's an innovative concept and nicely executed. Good graphics and simple, intuitive game play. Very much loved the cat level.

Seasons by leekanarchism 2020-04-22T09:56:20Z

This really is a lovely game. I really enjoyed playing it - it really is calming. The pipe placing does take some getting used to; as does not always being able to walk to the next square because of a hidden tree or bush. Really enjoyable though. :blue_heart:

Really simple, rather fun. Well done!

> This is a beautiful example of expressing abstract ideas with game mechanics.

^ I agree with @swanijam's comment - the game is deceptively simple and yet does make a thought provoking point (especially in the middle of the current lock-down). Adding a little music would have really emphasised this.
