Really moody opening: the stormy window with your friend's lighthouse far across the water, his voice on the radio and "let's try the old way" pulls you in right away, and answering with colored light signals is a lovely Old Tech idea. I only played the opening, the scene is quite dark on a laptop screen and the subtitles are very small, so a brightness option and bigger text would help. Beautiful premise!
Great atmosphere, I think some more explaining the general context would help here. Anyways it real nice and I bet there's a good story to it
This game had a great vibe, as I have come to expect from you :D It was very neat how you were able to tell a story with so little. It took some time to figure out what exactly I had to do and how everything worked, but I was happy to see that the game actually gave me time for this. Only at the end did time actually start to matter. The first time I played I did not realize all the bleeping came from the radio though, so I let my friend die because I didnt see the message on time >_< Second time through I was able to save hime though! I enjoyed this a lot! Really well done! ^^
I am pretty sure I made every possible wrong decision and got every single person killed. I didn't really understand how I was supposed to guide the ships I guess. I had a lot of fun though. The sounds when tuning the radio were great and when your buddy talked to you as well. I found the radio beeps a little intrusive but overall the sound design was well done. The framing of walking around within the lighthouse was a lot of fun. I especially liked how you mad to move from place to place to try to keep track of all the information. This was a really fun entry that I'll have to play again to see if I can do a better job.
Amazing game, one more great game with diegetic interface in this ludum dare, loved the graphics, the mood, the game have zero (till now) sobrenatural/terror elements in it's gameplay yet, it still gave me more chills than openly terror entry.
Now Petrel and crew is dead cause I switch east/west lol
This is definitely one of the most atmospheric/mood(y) games I've encountered in LD.
I see the "Post Jam Update: Better Tutorial Experience" mentioned in the description, so I'm likely playing with the better tutorial and I'm still struggling a fair bit. 😅
This is the first game I've given a perfect score to in the past two days, because it actually feels like a complete, well-made game. It's an excellent simulation game! One thing I'm curious about, though: did you use any AI-generated assets for the 3D models? I noticed that some objects, like the beds and books, seem to have a few characteristics that remind me of AI-generated models. Just curious!
A 3D game with a great atmosphere and relaxing music that contrasts with the stressful situation
👍
Really nice game! Using the radio feels good, it's well tuned. It has a strong mood and the little story of evenements is great. Buddy talks a little bit too often imo.
I couldn't get past the storm, I've figured that I should be telling him to (spoilers) flash his light red (and be doing the same myself) but I couldn't understand how to get him to do that. Mind to share the solution?
Yeah, I let the Petrel down as well, them cursing the guy giving the signal (me) did make me feel pretty bad, but it what gave me the push to get the Juno through it. The Mercy? Huh? Ah don't worry about that one, don't worry about it. As long as my other lighthouse buddy makes it through it's a happy end for all, that's what life as an honest watch is about.
So yeah, very fun game! It has a lot going on, it's super fun slowly getting into the rhythm of the mechanics, get the radio messages, put up the little pins, signal your buddy, save the day. It's very satisfying when it all runs like a well-oiled machine, I liked that a lot. It also really pulls you into it, with the sound and lighting design, you do get very immersed in your lighthouse keeper duties as you focus on getting the frequency right and squinting at the map to see where exactly J6 is supposed to be. And that finale was very unexpected, the sudden turn into fighting off a Kaiju. Thank you for the checkpoint, I took a couple of tries to figure it out, looking back I should have read the wall mural about it more thoroughly, heh, there was probably a hint in there. So yeah that was really cool as well. Wonderful game, great job!
What an awesome story on this! Accidentally sent someone to the eye of a storm and felt bad so I told the buddy that everything was fine :))
[Thanks for submitting your game to stream!](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2909045755?t=01h51m53s)
A nice, moody entry as always! I wish there were a few more scenarios that utilized all of the lighthouse's variations, but the idea at it's core was really fun to figure out.
Great mood and light house interactions work well. Some of the conversation text disappeared too quickly for me to fully read.
Thanks for giving this entry a try and all the input!
For answers to question:
@Daneil123 -> Yes, as you can obviously tell both instruction manuals are created by AI as well haha, I updated a section in the entry description for AI Disclosure as well, hope that help with the clarity better. Opted out the Graphics for the same reason, it helps with the blockout first and I only got time to polish the most important gizmo (the light panel and the radio) lol, but think we have the vibe here
@Yorsh -> (Spoilers) There is one lighthouse signal that you can send to let your buddy know you want them to "repeat" your signal. The combination is written on the manual besides the front signal panel lol. You do have the correct answer for the flashing red, yes!
