I have some really hard time controlling the character using the mouse (could be a skill issue from me), but aside from that, the idea is good and the lighting effects made the game a bit spooky.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD57 → Depth Diver

@joseph-tan Yes, thank you for your play and give our feedback. Our team hopes that the control of the characters will pose a challenge for players. This is the core idea we have taken into account when designing.
Wow I was surprised when I saw the graphics, it conveys the horror of the deep, I like it
The graphics are pretty nice and also the atmosphere is great. The controls sheme is a bit unusual (would be nice to use left and right on the keyboard or something to control). Overall a nice entry.
@psih Appreciate for play our game and recognition of our efforts in creating an atmosphere of terror!!
This game is truly immersive. Once you master the use of the diver's two legs, it's a real treat in terms of gameplay. The atmosphere is well-crafted and the theme is well-respected. When will level 2 be released? ;-)
@neowhoru Hahaha, thanks man.We hope to adopt a new operation mode, and we also hope to make players feel that it is difficult to control the direction in the deep sea.
@bismark Thank you for your recognition of us. This is the first time our team has collaborated and participated in a game jam. There are still many areas where we need to improve. When we become more capable, we will consider upgrading this project. LOL
The controls was janky and weird and I LOVED them! It really gives the game some uniqueness. The atmosphere was nice and I'm glad you were generous with checkpoints :)
I think it would be nice to have the press f to checkpoint written on the screen at least until first time it is pressed. I also think the controls get a bit confusing when swimming upwards, but I don't really have a good suggestion how to solve that. Maybe when input is given you could check direction of character before deciding what direction to turn. But I think that also could leave to some confusion.
Anyways well done!
edit: I don't see anywhere to leave a score, is that intended? :)
@bjornstenlund Thank you for writing so many comments and likes. Actually, this is our first time participating in Game Jam. So we didn't have a good plan at the beginning. Moreover, on the first day, we were still trying to develop a 3D game, but on the second day, we started to plan and make this 2D game. At first, we intended to add a mechanism for scoring or a leaderboard of time to complete the game, but due to the limited time, we didn't make it. We think your suggestions are very good and hope that they will be improved in the next game.
I love the dim lights and the shadows at the side, I think it looks great. The sounds is also very atmospheric and it makes it feel immersive. The character is a bit difficult to control and it looks like that the player has to literraly press both buttons at the same time to move forward without spinning left or right, which I couldn't do, it alwasy spun in one direction and then moved forward, moving the player not in the direction I wanted. Wish there was also a health bar of sort, so I know if I can take more risk or be careful. I think it fits the theme perfectly and it's def an interesting mechanic, I think it's a solid entry, well done!
Edit, it also appears I cannot rate the game, just wanted to check if that is intentional or a bug or something?
@eddieyang Ah okay well done managing the switch! But I mean giving rating to the game, all I see is this image_2025-04-09_143341474.png
@bjornstenlund Oh!i have no idea..It is already very delightful for us to have players play our game and give feedback. The score is of no significance to us.
@angry-fridge thank you very much for your very useful evaluation!! I have no idea how the rating system works.
@eddieyang no problem! I think we should be able to select a number of stars for each category but that seems to not be available, I am wondering if the voting has stopped or something
@angry-fridge I'm not quite sure what happened, but I saw that the voting time was still running.
The idea works surprisingly well, good idea and execution!
I like the atmosphere of the game. Controls are very fun! Didn't see this type of control in other games :)
Fun. I actually really like the controls. Felt very difficult at first but responsive when I got used to it- seems like a pretty high skill ceiling. However I almost feel like the controls and the vibe are at odds with each other. I have the urge to practice repeatedly in order to become better but the game has an eerie atmosphere rather than a high energy one. Seems to me the controls would be better suited for a faster paced experience.
Very cool concept. I love the mood and vibe. The idea for the controls is unique, but I found it difficult. I honestly think having the player hold LMB and point to where they want to swim would be easier to control and more fun. But this is a great start to a game, and congrats to you all on completing your first game jam. I love that!! Welcome to the community!!
Well done! I like the art style. The gameplay is fun. The only real issue is the directions of the controls kind of feel backwards.
Sorry, for all the players who intended to rate but failed to do so before, due to my oversight and mistake, the option "Not Participating in Rating" was selected. It has been corrected and returned. It was just a blunder on my part.
@mayrakissa Thank u~
@playrea Thank u for play!!!
@chloew I'm very glad that you could offer such valuable suggestions. Yes, I think you're right. This kind of game style that develops through operation and is more in line with bright and vivid colors is just like Mario Kart.
@jordantanner Thank you very much. We will definitely do better next time.
@eddieyang I didn't mean it sound like you didn't do well! The game is a very enjoyable experience! Just trying to provide helpful feedback thats all! :)
Very unique controls, I love games that try something new! Well done :)
@olsonexi Yes, during the testing process, we also encountered many times where we got stuck in the walls and had to backtrack. However, the deadline did not allow us to think of any better solutions.
@cmaks Thank you for your Play. This is exactly the kind of feeling I was aiming for. It gives players a brand-new control experience.
Very cool ! I did not understood at first if the big fish was doing anything to me. But overall, it's good !
@mrantoinest Oh, actually the big fish patrols back and forth between some points. Moreover, there is a detection area in front of it. When the player is within the detection range, the big fish will chase after the player.
Thank you so much for the checkpoints. The controls are intuitive, i got how to play almost instantly. More sound would be nice though.
@scoobysnacks Thanks for experiencing our game and suggest, yes may not be long we will finalize our game with sound really soon (maybe?) but thanks so much for your suggestion!
