Loved the atmosphere on this one, especially the audio on the mice, it felt very unsettling. Maybe would have liked a few more land marks to be able to make it back to the generator a bit easier, but overall i had a good time. Great work.
Great job! 🐭 The atmosphere is just incredible, especially the sounds of the mice - they add tension. I really liked the idea of collecting notes and gradually revealing the story. For a game made in 48 hours, this is an impressive result! 👍 Perhaps adding landmarks would help with navigation, but overall, great immersion and fun gameplay. 👏
Wonderfully creepy writing and amazing atmosphere. I too had some issues with navigation, but when I started being frustrated, I resolved this problem by triggering the same letter multiple times. Maybe I wouldn't assign them a specific order, because I found first one, and then fourth one, so, it's easy to miss the correct order of them. I would also put a gun slightly lower, but otherwise, this is a really amazing atmospherical entry and well done with that, textures, lighting and audio is just wonderful!
Creepy haha, well done!
really liked the mood of the game !
Ohh shit that was deep. Loved to kill some rats. The story on the letters was amazing. I forgot the radar sounds its very creepy and I like it
Really enjoyed the mood of the game and atmosphere
Loved the exploration and notes! But since the world was so large, I want a minimap of some sorts, so I could see what I might have missed. Still, fed 120+ dial-up rats to the infernal machine, nice work on creepy atmosphere!
uh oh -- seems like I just have a black screen?Screenshot 2024-10-08 at 9.32.34 PM.png
has the order of script executiono gotten messed up?
@avi I have no idea how that happened except that you could have clipped out of bounds.
(By the way, sorry everyone for not replying I feel like I haven't replied in so long that I can't anymore but all of you have no idea how helpful you all are!)
Really great mood, I wanted to find all the notes, but couldn't find the last few. Followed the road and eventually hit an invisible wall. But god wants more flesh so, I obeyed
was a fun little game enjoyed it needs a little more direction but very good entry
At the start I thought the shotgun was set of claws and you were playing as a velociraptor or rat or something. Very good sound design. A confusing start, I wasn't sure if you were meant to explore or if it was a defence game. Didn't help that I wandered into the woods. Needs a pause option, especially if I want to take notes while playing. Should color the rats for pickup or something, since they blend in with the ones chasing you. Invisible wall was jarring. Rats start to become less scary and more annoying. Easy to get lost due to fighting. Wasn't sure if I won at the end when I got back to the furnace. Hard to find the notes.
God is hungry, I must... feed...
This is the first game that I've played in this Jam that has genuinely scared me. You've cultivated a perfectly chilling atmosphere and I am so unsettled by the lore.
Well done, excellent job, would get spooked again.
@trogdor-20x6 I'll make sure to change that in my future games and when I do update this game after the jam ends!
Much creepier than I was expecting a game about rats to be. Those eerie sounds as they approach are just so perfectly unsettling. Unfortunately I was only able to kill about eighty rats and find one of the notes, and then I got swarmed by rats and died (which I wasn't sure you could do). They're so small and move so fast, and your gun reloads so slowly - I guess this is intended to make the game harder and thus scarier, but really it just makes killing and collecting each swarm feel really tedious.
Great job, though, I really wish I was able to beat it and fully unravel the plot.
@f1krazy One thing I noticed after publishing the game and playtesting was that people did not know you can run by holding shift. I really should have taught that in one way or another while making my game.
@mmph I can confirm, I had no idea you could run by holding Shift. That definitely should have been documented somewhere. I'll give the game another try with that in mind.
This is scared me a little bit, but you did amazing job 😌
