Nice game! I liked the missions, but I feel like I'd rather have more time in each mission -- the first mission was the perfect length to understand the concept, but after that I feel like each mission was over too quickly.

The foundation to something good is here though - I think if you added more environmental manipulation abilities (e.g. summon demon walls / something that pulls aggro on enemies) that can force the crusaders to move in different directions would allow for longer missions.

I really liked the use of the theme and how I'm the bad guy! Nicely done!

Fun game I really enjoyed the soundtrack. The gameplay was fun and kept me interested.

Man this really gave me some nice diablo 2 vibes :D thanks for the retrocandy!

I'm not great at this type of game, but had fun! I feel like the difficulty curve was more like a gap in level 3. Couldn't beat it unfortunately. But that's probably me being terrible at the game. I liked that we have upgrades. Visuals and sound are great! I'd like to see you keep working on this.

nice music, but I dont understund how to make upgrades and get new skills =(

zklau 2024-04-16 22:11

Nice, I really liked the game. It really has potential to become something even better.

I don't know if this was a me problem, but I had a really hard time with the controls - Having active combat skills that required me to move my fingers off of WASD in order to use them was a struggle. I actually had to stop playing because the constant movement from W to 1 and back started cramping up my hand before the end of the game. The controls would have been a lot friendlier if they had been spaced out with one hand controlling movement, and one hand activating abilities.

Other than that, it was a cool game! I really liked the way that you had implemented leveling up, where you really wanted to do well at each mission so that you could get a large boost every time! :)

Fun game)

nohac 2024-04-16 22:17

@koolruz You could use the arrow keys to move and 1, 2 to use skills. wasd does work but it's not the best way to play imo.

koolruz 2024-04-16 22:20

Well now I feel like a dingus! The instructions totally say arrow keys as well, I just completely skipped over that!

The funny thing is, a few ludum dares ago, I had a similar issue with my game - I had intended folks to use the arrow keys, Z, and X, but accidentally left in WASD controls as well as a holdover from an alternate control scheme. I got a lot of feedback that hitting Z and X was really hard when using WASD đŸ˜…

Thanks for pointing that out!

nohac 2024-04-16 22:24

@koolruz No worries! You could also use a gamepad, but since it's not possible to select upgrades with it, I didn't include it as an option in the description. We should probably have disabled wasd before publishing the game.

After the first few levels I found it almost impossible to keep my cultists alive so it was alot of FAIL, FAIL, FAIL, success (bc its the one with the moat), FAIL, FAIL, ect.

The lightning ability range and damage feel underpowered by the time you get to it

dywanix 2024-04-17 00:09

Interesting idea, but a little bit chaotic for me when sudenly fight is over

chiara-sanviti 2024-04-20 11:45

The idea isn't particularly original, but keeping the concept simple in my opinion paid off the gameplay

lisek-gagatek 2024-04-22 10:26

Very playable, with good mechanics and even a lobby map for upgrades. That's rad. I personally had the feeling that the fights were ending kinda abruptly. And were very repeatable. You probably wanted to go for the theme, but the gameplay would benefit if you were supposed to kill mages summoning knights instead of surviving. Also, you could spawn enemies in bigger waves, but less often, it would feel a bit less stagnant.

ueighti 2024-04-24 20:28

It took some time to realize that I could use arrow keys instead WASD. Interesting game. Adding some SFX could make the experience way better. :) Nice work!

codmen4000 2024-04-28 20:33

It reminds me of dungeon crawlers like Diablo 3. I think the only problem I had was the movement and the fact that all abilities stopped me from moving. But still very good.
