makes me feel like im flying rogue one. great game!

lastuck 2023-10-03 15:55

The game is a bit too short, maybe because you didn't have enough time but it was really nice, I had fun!

marti-mayolas 2023-10-03 15:56

Cool!, I realy enjoyed the cylider part of level 1, good controls, probably needs more feedback of the damage of the ship and when you hit the enemies, congratulations!!

Cool game. The music makes the game feel like some kind of space odyssey. Though I was not completely sure what to do at the end of the level 1

captainzo 2023-10-04 11:17

Very cool game ! The music is very cool but I was blocked at the end of the first level xD

elmos-minion 2023-10-04 15:40

Thanks! To beat the first(second?) level, you want to turn the red squares green by shooting them, and enter the bright white wormhole. I've added a note to the description. Would have added more in-game tooltips, but as yall guessed didn't have much time this weekend :)

Just added a linux release, although I can't test since my VM can't use the GPU properly lol

Very cool little game! I was impressed by how well the ship handles

rakthalekk 2023-10-08 03:59

Fun game! The ship felt good to control and the levels were interesting to navigate. If you add more levels I'd love to see how it turns out

maxededo 2023-10-08 04:12

Cool game! took me a minute to adjust to the controls, but they felt nice to use once I got used to them. I would have liked to see a bit more out of the gameplay, but what was there was solid.

The flying controls were really cool. That paired with the audio and cool lights made the game have a very majestic and cool aesthetic. I was very confused on the second level but I see now what I need to do.

Some nice sound effects could really improve the experience, as well as some better guidance on objectives, but great work overall on a fun and nice looking flight game!

The game you made is quite a cool start to something. I think there are a lot of improvements that could be made in this game to improve the overall experience.

I had some trouble getting the controls down. The difference in sensitivity between turning and aiming with the mouse is intense. I am not sure if there was a setting to fix this, since the UI didn't scale with my screen resolution at all. This made the controls quite jarring for me as rolling the ship happens almost instantly but for pitching the ship the same amount I had to move several desk lengths.

I personally am not a fan of the bleed effect which all the light emitting things have. It does not decrease the intensity of the controls since there is bleed everywhere when spinning a bit too fast. I also noticed quite a lot of lava face-fighting each other. This happens when multiple objects are located at the exact same position. The engine then doesn't know which texture it needs to render so it does both, creating a jittery effect. This is fixable, you should probably google how to do it in your engine.

In my opinion the music does not really fit this game. It sounds kinda medial quest like, while this game is more of a sci-fi theme.

But these are all possible improvements. Still pretty good what you have so far! I hope you continue to improve it!

@ayxs Sorry about the UI, it is still buggy and I'm working on fixing my imgui implementation for the future. There is a mouse sensitivity setting in the settings menu (in the UI), which might help address the controls. As for the lava clipping and music, we're aware of the issue but didn't quite have enough time to polish those up and make them more cohesive. Will definitely keep those in mind next time, thanks for the feedback!

Hey! Nice game, ship was good to control, and levels had clear paths to navigate. Music also sounds great, but abundance of post-processing was a mixed bag for me. Overall good job!

uselesswasteofhumanflesh 2023-10-18 16:04

yoo cool game. i love the idea

aweskybear 2023-10-18 17:06

It's an interesting start to something that can go great lengths! Congrats for the visuals!

I love the graphics and the feeling they give! And I like the concept of flying. On the contrary to other people, I think the music intensifies the game and makes it great. I really could feel the need of some SFX though, e.g. boosting your ship speed, bumping into things, shooting, you know ^^ / this would intensify the atmosphere further.

What I would say *I wish* about this game: the space is *really* limited XD - so I guess you filled in the theme well! But... there should probably be a way for the player to not *die* so easily (or a mechanic which helps to reposition). I got restarted several times and could not not feel the need to rage-quit

I was dying at the first enemy fight / to this point - it's hard to control the ship without going into a wall / while trying to evade enemies.. or I just suck at flying xD

To this point my feedback is kind of that of @axys (I *will* try the mouse sensitivity setting though and try the game again : )) )

What I also think would be SUPER cool - the space to not be that tiny so that I could accelerate a lot and just go at super high speed with my super-duper cool ship! :D

Great start, guys, wish to see more! :)))

Nice game. Flying through narrow corridors was fun. Smudgy bloom was little wird for me. Your game couild be a lot more iommersive with sounds.

bliny-lynx 2023-10-19 20:53

Yay, I win!

Cool concept, catches that "Piloting the millenium falcon into the deathstar" feeling and makes me want to go fast.

The bg music is okay, would have liked some sound effects.

The ships and firing effects look nice, but the levels are a bit too simplistic (think cp_orange) in some parts.
