Very aestetical game! i love the atmosphere of that art and souds creating wornderful fairy pixel world!

Great job with the environment very soothing to explore. I somehow managed to escape the trucks zone of influence and could not get back in. At least I got a selfie in the void! bug.png

The mood in this game is amazing.. I was so relaxed 😆 Maybe a minimap would be helpful.. Good job 🙂

I really love the art style for this, good work on keeping it consistent!

It was fun delivering the boxes to different people. And I liked some of the intentional map design choices with some of the roads, with some NPCs being just barely out of sight... but then being lead to directly.

Really cool stuff here.

Cool that you could move with the car and the character. It's a super relaxing experience, with the ambient sounds and visuals. Only critic is that I wish the intro > game was a bit faster!

My favourite moment in the game was the one lady who seemed to be hiding in the bushes, waiting for her package.

My thoughts: I liked the two modes of walking and driving; it adds a bit of variety in the gameplay. Though walking felt a bit too slow for the amount of distance you had to cover. The maximum distance from the truck limit is also a good idea.

I would have liked some kind of challenge or problem to solve. It very quickly devolved into me just walking left, memorising the colours that are there and going all the way back to the truck to get the packages (and all the way back with the packages, and all the way back to the truck [see why I want faster move speed?]), and then the same for the right, drive further down, repeat. Like the others here said, it was a pretty chill atmosphere, so having a timer or something would probably ruin it, but perhaps instead of having all the packages, you get a random coloured one, and have each person able to receive multiple packages, so that you can eventually learn where the different colour destinations are and head there immediately, rather than having to just happen upon them.

Some small things: If you carry a package, it's always on your right; having it be pointing in the direction you last walked would have been convenient. Also, once you deliver a package (which is once-off per person), the arrow remains. I would have like to see some kind of visual feedback that the delivery was successful (e.g. the arrow disappears, or the recipient sprite goes from a waiting pose to holding a package, or whatever). Also, the colliders generally felt too big, especially for a three-quarters view situation like this. Putting the player's collider on only the lower half would have allowed him to overlap with obstacles, but only with his head, creating a feeling of depth and less annoying bumping into stuff that don't seem like you should be bumping into.

pretty buggy, managed to make everything blurry and its kinda annoying that the truck area is so small but its a cute small game and i love the aesthetics of it

The pixel artwork was so adorable, I loved it. I encountered a few bugs where the parcel menu was stuck on screen, the screen was blurry when I tried to resume the game, and I struggled with the boy who wanted the pink parcel. I had to walk around him and approach him from the right hand side before he would accept it. I would also like it if it stopped showing an arrow if you've delivered a package as I delivered the orange one but I came across an orange arrow and I had none left in my truck. The sounds were great. Overall, a very attractive little game.

Good game! Congratz for completing your first game jam! I liked the pixel art and the nice ambient sound. I also liked the idea a lot. :) It played quite well all in all. Good job with the game!

I made a few notes about things you can improve.

Gameplay: Searching for people was a bit too tedious. I didn't find the person for the red package and gave up in the end. Maybe put mailboxes with the respective colors on the road side. So I can grab to correct package and go looking for the person nearby.

Art: Try to keep your pixel sizes consistent (all pixels have the same size) and also try to adhere to the pixel grid. This is not always easy especially for moving sprites. But sprites that are not moving (background, npcs, trees) should respect the pixel grid. This will make your game look much better :)

Bugs: - Menus get stuck, when I press E first, then Q while the first menu is still open. - the truck sound plays when pressing Q, even when I'm not close to the truck - Colliders are a bit weird sometimes.

I really like the sounds in you chose for the game, they are so satisfiying. Also the mood really checks out. In the first run I got stuck because I could not interact with the truck and the inventory. I think it happened because I pressed E while inside the truck, but could not reproduce it. Overall a nice game

japes 2023-05-03 19:51

Graphics/sounds were great, as was the menu/instructions. Though I think the instructions could be displayed for a little longer before disappearing. Perhaps make them stay until the player clicks something.

Great effort for a first entry! The gameplay got a bit tedious though, some puzzles/challenges would've made it more interesting. I was able to give the last package to the wrong person, and they were ok with it?

mreliptik 2023-05-04 07:45

Cool little game fitting the theme nicely! Congrats for your entry

fire-steam-studio 2023-05-04 10:19

Thank you @mlists, @jaco-van-hemert, @tofucat, @aalula, @japes, @stefan-funke and everybody else for the feedback the game is successful in concept , I realize it is a bug nest. When I have free time, I am working hard on fixing all the bugs people are running in to. Though it might not be any time soon fixes are coming. @mlists I am unable to reproduce the out of bounds bug, I will do what I can to fix it.

flying-butter-studio 2023-05-04 20:48

So relaxing haha, very nice game. I would like to have collider on objects like trees or bushes, that would be a plus. But anyway, a very good job, fun to play

andre-sadie 2023-05-06 14:34

Cute game. Well done with the entry. I don't think you should make the instructions disappear on its own or maybe add a button to bring it back. Some characters didn't want to accept the packages. Theres a funny bug where the car sound plays when you press Q even if you aren't near the car.

nsadie 2023-05-06 14:54

Nice little game!

I found a bug where if you press Q while the inventory is open I was unable to close it again. When moving the truck it might make sense to leave a bit of space in front of the track when moving the camera, it feels constantly if I am going to be involved in a hit and run...

waffleworksgames 2023-05-07 16:20

Fun, relaxing gameplay and nice atmosphere! I like the pixel art and you fit the theme nicely. Some of the characters were a bit hard to find but that's a pretty small issue. Nice work!

silvio 2023-05-07 20:45

nice ambient sounds

bloodbane 2023-05-11 05:19

I really love the idea of the game. Too bad I oftenly got stuck when I couldn't get out from box menu or accidentally accessing the truck while in that menu.
