i dont understand what to do
Nice work! The game really gave me old browser game vibes and I really liked that. Honelsty I think the only thing missing would be a little more visual clarity as to what was completed and were to go, but theres so much you can do in 72 hours. Great Job!
The narrative text really sets a game like this apart. It makes a simple task feel a bit more fun and alive. Great work!
Its hard to tell what to do and what platforms I have landed on, but very fun too play! And pretty enjoyable drone controls!
I wish I could make the text appear more quickly since it was generally preventing me from playing. I'd spend most of my time waiting for the text to appear, then play for 10 seconds, then wait again. With so many games out here to play, letting the player drive the cadence of the experience (especially in the genre game) is a good choice :D
FYI, I just pushed a fix for a framerate issue that could cause havoc on the controls. It should now play as intended on various browsers. Oh, and there's a secret link to skip story dialog, if you just want to fly! https://jcward.com/fedup/index.html?skip
Thanks for playing!
Well designed platformer, I like the name, and design was cool! Drone actually controlled pretty smoothly and I'm excited to see more levels!
It was good to have the story with the game, it made it feel more depth oriented. The art was good. I loved the fans rotating when you flew as well. So many good things in this game, glad to have played it, great work in a short time.
Dang, super polished, the snow in the level gets blasted by the drone, that's super sweet!
Nice! I had fun with this one. I would have loved to hear some sounds with the project, but overall a great entry!
This was one of the most fun games I've played in the Jam despite how simple it is. And I love the snow? feathers? dust? whatever it is floating in the air XD
The only thing that I would change about it is to have subtle sound effects and some music.
I'm FedUp with how great this little jam game is! (Fed Up as in goes up, not as in irritated). You did a great job keeping the scope small so that you could deliver a nicely polished game.
I think there were a few things you could have improved, other than adding some more content: • Controls are a bit weird, especially when you collide with something. I ended up bouncing between stuff a few times and it would instakill me. • Audio would have been great, even if just made with sfxr • I would have preferred a smaller drone and more wide-open worlds, less super-tight spaces. I had more fun with larger maneuvers than minute positioning. • Going too high off the screen accidentally was a bummer for knowing when I'd come down. Either an indicator of how close I was to being back on screen or simple following the drone with the camera would have helped.
Great feedback @eli-delventhal, thanks! Yeah, I have zero sfx experience, I'll look into that! These are [super janky hand-rolled physics](https://github.com/jcward/ldjam53/blob/main/src/drone/Collisions.hx) on a tight time budget  - I need to try a real physics engine. @lisyarus has [one](https://bitbucket.org/lisyarus/psemek/src/master/) I'd like to play with. And I have a couple ideas to make the drone smaller - 1) I might zoom the camera, and 2) I imagine a button to transform (but can no longer carry packages.)
Thanks again!
Random fun fact - the pixel building is modeled on [these ones on Pearl St, Boulder, CO](https://www.google.com/maps/@40.0174668,-105.2819496,3a,90y,173.76h,103.65t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1skGFfnQy4FAe0D7QkBiOEMQ!2e0!7i16384!8i8192) - I worked across from those for years, had a few reference pictures handy.
@jward Ooh wow! :) Are you talking about the whole engine or just the sound subsystem?
@lisyarus - oh, I'm fascinated by the physics part. But I have nothing for sound either.
@jward The main soft body part is mostly here: https://bitbucket.org/lisyarus/ldjam53/src/7d275fa8cd585a944086b1d0b64bf04a2223c404/main.cpp#lines-509:545
I'm planning on writing a blog post about it, I can ping you somewhere when it's ready if you're interested :)
This is a pretty solid entry, the graphics are pretty good, i noticed the particle effects with the snow - those are really cool. The gameplay is simple but fun, the drone feels good to control, and the levels have a good bit of challenge in there. The biggest flaw really is that there isn't a few more levels.
Cool game, I liked the graphics and the drone physics felt nice to control.
great game! the physics are very smooth and it really feels like I'm piloting a drone. nice work! I also liked the graphics a lot, it has kind of a vintage vibe to it :)
A great idea, a nice game! Just missing some sound effects and music.
