Cool art style and fun gameplay. I was able to keep tree only 2 minutes.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD50 → Delay the inevitable deforestation

Cool art style and fun gameplay. I was able to keep tree only 2 minutes.
Fun gameplay, on my second shot the enemies bugged out a bit and got stuck, and I was able to grow the tree forever. I think I beat the game, long live the trees!
Nice idea for a game here. I have some suggestions and some questions :) 1. The bucket's state should be 10x more obvious. It was hard to know if I had water or not or if I had splashed it on something successfully. The splash/usage of water has to have a juicy animation to convey that it has been spent (and where it was used). 2. Why do I need to pick up the bucket? Can't I just start by holding it? 3. Are the upper platforms relevant? I found myself running around only on the ground.
Great foundations here! Just needs a bit more polish to really hook me.
Liked the concept, as for my thoughts I pretty much agree on what the-neon-shark said, but I would add that you could add more ways that player could interact with hazards. Going left to right with spamming enter and pressing space from time to time gets repetitive pretty fast. The game could use more engaging mechanics to hook players for more :) I am impressed with audio that you made and overall mood, good job :v:
@the-neon-shark @gummibot thanks for the feedback. Yeah I wanted to have some hazards, even started working on an airplane but I wasn't sure how it would fit into the deforestation theme in an easy manner. The additional platforms were supposed to be for dealing with said airplane and avoid the fire instead of running through it.
I was unsure how to unload the bucket of water, but I really enjoyed jumping on the heads of the dudes. I like the art for the tree as it grows, its really nicely done.
I like the concept and game loop. Was wondering if the water does anything to the tree? I also hoped the enemies would die walking into the fire!
WHY DOES ZEUS HATE MY LITTLE TREEEEE! Awesome concept good job. I spent a pit trying to water the tree until i realized the gods wanted the world to burn.
@ani @idunnyx thanks for your comments. I did about 2 minutes of research for scientific accuracy and apparently trees don't need watering because they draw water from the ground  But I definitely wanted some more mechanics to interact with the tree, in order to help it grow
Very nice game  Simple but effective :stuck_out_tongue: The sounds and art were nice and the game felt good to play. I just wish it was more explicit how to use the water. I mean, I didn't know when it would affect the fires and how close I needed to be... Other than that a pretty solid game for this little time
I liked the idea and the art of the characters.
The gamemplay could be improved. For example: - I think the enemies should die on the fire or try to jump. - Having more paths to reach the items and make them temporal - The water should be more effective against the fire.
Nice game, I liked the idea and the art. It does become a bit repetitive with the enemies always coming from the same place, and I didn't really end up using the platforms much apart from getting the bucket. But overall impressive for the limited time! Good job :)
Cool game! I like the pixel art and the sound effects, especially the lighting. Some instruction in the description would be a nice addition: that you do not need to water the tree. Another improvement could have been, changing the side on which player holds the bucket based on the direction of movement and most important. Besides, that fun game, good job!
Nice game, it was clear what I had to do. I wish there was some better feedback on whether I'm actually watering the tree/fire, but otherwise it was good. Once fires started coming, it was clear fate was inevitable.
