Pleasing retro soundscapes.
I love seeing Pico-8 games!
The controls were definitely "unstable", but I love that very rapid acceleration was also kind of exciting. And it was still controllable even though it was fast.
It took me a few games before I realized that I'm supposed to head towards the blue circle. My heart was racing when I was getting really close because I didn't want to die, so keeping control of my ship was very stressful. I did eventually make it into the black hole - well done!
Wow! At first I really didn't like it, It never really felt like I was in control, but eventually I was able to maintain speed and dodge asteroids by slowing down to almost nothing. The pay off at the end felt really good! Well done!
Absolutely amazing! F*ck casual games :p
Interesting game! Getting heavy retro Asteroids-esque feelings from this one. I like how the sound effect gets faster along with your ship's speed.
I wasn't a big fan of moving a circular control scheme using only left and right, though. I felt it added too much unnecessary clunkiness to the game
@niterich well you know, I was kinda going for Getting Over It vibe, where controls are a challenge by themselves
Nice and so difficult space travel. I felt a very strong sympathy for this game and my first Ludum Dare game "Swing-by".
The graphics are beautiful, I love the way PICO-8 games look. The parallax was cool too. I get that you were trying to make it difficult but because of the small size it was almost impossible to travel faster than the speed from one or two key presses, which is a shame because it felt amazing when you were travelling faster. I'm not sure how you could change that because the viewport is so small though and so asteroids just come out of nowhere. But yeah I really enjoyed it, loved the sounds (except for the kinda ear destroyer when you get to the blue target) and look of the game, great job!
This game feels very eerie, and I like how the tension builds as your velocity increases.
It was very satisfying to win.
So simple, yet the responsive and dynamic controls and well considered audio here make this really tactile. It feels excellent, the scrolling of the moons in the background and the blipping that increases speed as you launch yourself forward. It feels pretty authentically like an Atari classic, like a Missile Command or an Asteroids. It does a lot with a little, and I like that about it. Extremely challenging, it almost feels like a test of my ever-dwindling patience. I was able to make it to the end after many deaths. Would be fun to see speedruns on this, I imagine it can be completed in a second or two with a good amount of luck. Really well done!
Managed to arrive at destination by moving very, very carefully. Not gonna do a speedrun, sorry
